A great conversation. I am not a westerner, so I don't actually know if Andrew's accent is what they call 'posh' but to me, he sounds so posh and eloquent. I especially like how he addresses The Queen every time as Her Majesty The Queen.

Andrew Roberts is an interesting historian. It's a pity that history doesn't seem to interest much the interviewer who hasn't read this thick book I guess because he has nothing to say about it or ask any pertinent question. A reign of 60 years summed up in 10 minutes before asking a question about Meghan Markle ! I watched this video to learn about George III. Thank you to the audience at the end for asking a couple of good questions about this topic.

I don't understand. I thought this was to be a discussion of Prof. Roberts new book and King George III and the American revolution, not a conservative conversation about current US and UK politics. Talk about bait and switch. I am thouroughly disappointed. I'll have to find conversations about the book elsewhere.

Interviewer ran this discussion right off the rails. Dr. Roberts looked frustrated as well.

"The British government is really fighting back against cancel culture..." tap tap tap, hold on, let me test my earphones, maybe they're clogged with dust or something, let me replay that brilliant observation by Nile at 23:52. Yup, that's what he said. Aah yes, now I know what he meant. Nile was obviously referring to the British colony on Mars that is actually conservative minded and wants to conserve Western institutions and is willing to FIGHT LIKE HELL against any interstellar invader trying to rip down those institutions. What other possible explanation is there, because BACK HERE ON EARTH, a place very foreign to Nile, the g*d damned British government IS THE PROBLEM. Has he never read The Long March Through the Institutions??? WTF, for someone supposedly associated with the Heritage Foundation, that is one of the most ignorantly thoughtless statements I've ever heard on the alphabet police, aka, Tories, Labor, British institutions. The woke political contagion has so badly toxified every last British institution that to use the Titanic analogy, the political ship of state has already hit and been sliced open by the iceberg of multicultural wokism, the ship has been split asunder, and now we're not rearranging the deck chairs on the aft deck as the band plays valiantly on, we're all in the deathly cold waters fighting over lifeboats.

As a New Zealander we have a monarchy but I think it’s difficult for Americans to appreciate its benefits because they’ve never really experienced them first hand. One of the main advantages of being a subject of King Charles the 3rd is the peace it produces. It’s peaceful because we know that no matter how great we might become, we can never be as great as the reigning king or queen. And this knowledge produces a calming affect upon us. Whereas with Americans there is potentially no one greater than them because maybe they could become president or super rich and actually become top dog. Whereas for us in New Zealand the king and queen will always be uno number one. We are more subdued than Americans. More sober minded or conservative. More settled. We know our place. It’s peaceful. But this doesn’t appeal to all people although it should. There are those who so desperately don’t want even God to reign over them that they buy into the preposterous nonsense of atheism. It’s a pity America doesn’t have a royal family. They would be better off albeit 350 million Americans would undoubtedly disagree.

I used to wonder why America revolted. I know that the reasons are complex and beyond taxation, involve the after effects of the 7 Years War and British restrictions on westward expansion, et al. (Geoff Shaara gives some clues in his two books on the revolution.) But, more to the point, why did the Brits fight this unwinable war on the other side of the Atlantic, with a mainly hostile population? The logistics for a start, were horrendous at that distance with technology of the day, across a vast geography with little local support. It was as Shaara said, a civil war and to me, totally unnecessary. Parting as friends was infinitely better. I suppose it's just the way things were done then. With the exception of the South African Boer War, which was about gold and to a lesser extent, the Boer policies against the black population, they never did so again with the other dominions. Niall Ferguson, in Empire, said that a post war Royal Commission resulted in a perceptible 'oh s***t' moment as Britain's mistakes were laid bare.

Gardiner is a total loss in this interview. Wastes a lot of time, rambles on, can't stick to a topic. George III gets short shrift despite the supposed topic being George III. He should watch the Peter Robinson (Hoover Institution) interview with Dr. Roberts and take notes on how to conduct an interview. If you must go ahead with this exercise in frustration, skip the tedious introduction and start here. 4:09

polling on the monarchy: what a ridiculous poll and to compare it to the active president's polling is even more ridiculous. its even less relevant than how boris johnson polls, as she has no power. easy to like a celebrity essentially.

Why ? Because you like it ? What is so good about it ? . Take time to have a unbiased look at fhem ! Let's start with the youngest shall we, Edward, told to join the marines( not his choice ). Didn't like the training and being shouted at, so he picked up and driven back home to mum and dad . NO REPERCUSSIONS!. What are they going to do with me? Throw me in the tower? Had it been anyone else , they would seen jail time and unceremoniously dumped out of the Army. I'm not even going to touch on phedo Andy . The enormously bad WORLD press takes care of that .( won't visit the States any time soon). Next up .Anne, she wouldn't seem amiss in a monty python sketch..Once coming out of church she was handed a beatiful bueqae of flowers .Being informed , this old made them for you, to which she replied, what a ridiculous thing to do . The future King Charles, (maybe!) NO there is no respite, has-been an utter idiot since he was cosseted. I'm no prophet, but when the news came on the TV and I saw that shy jung Diana clinging on to his arm , my first thought was RUN !!the rest is of course history. Are you still against a poll ? Or are you going to stand to attention and wave your wee butchers apron when they drive past? .
