    I get to hear the Wilsons and the Sonus Faber speakers at my local dealers all the time. They're both great sounding speakers. There's so many great sounding speakers out there in todays market, by so very many different brands, it's just a matter of personal taste, and that's the bottom line, as is all things in high end audio. But, for my money, I'll still take my beloved Revel Salon 2 speakers.

    Really interesting Adrian enjoyed listening to your thoughts about the new Alexia V's. I have original Alexia's and quite like them in my room. I personally think they're a wonderful sweet spot in the Wilson range. I've owned them for a year now and when an opportunity arises I'll be looking to move up the Alexia range when I can.

    3 pairs of Wilson’s! I would love to see your home listening (space or spaces) and how you decide what and on what you listen to when you are just “listening”. My biggest choices are between cd station, my system and my headphones THEN music sources streaming (anything any time), cd rips (better quality) or physical media (one album through). It’s all done in the dark so i have to commit and once i do it’s a pain to change - ruins the experience. I mix it up by DAC and source input HDMI, optical, LDAC or RCA.

    I heard them at a dealer in NYC they put them to close to the wall to “demonstrate” a NYC apartment set up! So they were some base boomyness. But I knew they were special. The tweeter goes down to like 1.6 khtz really low. Every seat in the room sounded great! The midrange was perfect. Highs were there and natural. They had it on a DCS Rossini Apex plugged into a Strom tank and the best Dagastino monoblocks with 25k a pop transparent cables. The speakers were magical and a wall of sound and if they were pulled out more from the wall would have been perfect.
    I like them more than the Alexx V. They have a wider sweet spot and easier to place in a room.

    While I haven’t heard the Alexia V, I did hear the Alexia II’s I think or perhaps the Alexia. Not sure but it was about a 1.5 years ago. It was driven by dcs Vivaldi gear and a Boulder amp at a local SF Bay Area store. Big mistake on my part because my limited experience is with gear that produces more of a wall of sound. I felt immersed in a bubble of sound. I had to deprogram myself after that experience so that I could listen to my system again. What impressed me the most was I was only there to order the Node 130 and he invited me into a listening room. If the “V” is better in reproducing sound, my hat is off to Wilson Audio. Unfortunately the Alexia V’s will physically fit into my listening room but not financially. Thank you Adrian for your take on these fantastic speakers.

    Adrian you are a superb, honest communicator. Can we recruit you into politics or political commentary? Just kidding. Given the current state of affairs, most rational people would run from that. Thank you for this channel. Audio Excellence equates to Adrian Excellence. I'm a fan of your humanistic, intelligent approach to life. At the end of the day. we all want people to remember us first and foremost as a good person; and clearly you believe that as well.

    Hi there,
    I like the way you describe the Wilson Audio Alexia V. It's a lovely speaker to behold. The problem is at that price range there's a lot of competition. Rockport Technologies Cygnus, Bowers and Wilkins 801 d4, Magico M3. So the question is whether the sound characteristics has changed due to the fact that Darryl is now in charge.
    Also, whether the listener prefers the sharp lines and irregular shapes of the Wilson 🤔 ?

    • @ALBEVA
      @ALBEVA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I heard both Rockport Technologies Cygnus, Bowers and Wilkins 801 d4 and they have very STRONG bass.
      However, Wilson Audio has better feeling about Speed in bass.
      Magico is very average...
      So it is purely your taste.....for me, both Alexia V and Cygnus are highly recommended and nothing to complain about.
      If I have 2 friends, one have Cygnus and another own Alexia V, I will enjoy to visit anyone of them....nothing feel short.

    • @venus263
      @venus263 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Albert Chen its all about taste and preference of the listener's. I prefer bass and looks to everything else. That's me.
      All are great speakers to own. Thanks again for the unbiased opinion. 👍 👌

    Great review and recommendation. I am planning to purchase new Wilson Speakers. I am between Alexia V vs Alexx V. Currently I am using Martin Logan, Montis. I am using Tube Power Amp by Audio Research and Mac C53 Preamp. Do you think both speakers by Wilson suitable for Tube Amp? I listen mostly of Jazz, classic Rock, 80s R&B and occasion classical. Thanks

    I could say that I don't like Korean food but then I can also say that I have never eaten it before. Everything I've heard or read about it says it's kind of spicy so I probably won't like it. Some speakers can be too spicy and some are quite mild. Popeyes vs. KFC.

    Lol - ok you like Wilson speakers - but are you saying that every other brand that uses different materials for tweeters and midrange / bass drivers can’t achieve a coherent sound (in a way a Wilson can do) ? If you haven’t heard of the brand before do yourself a favor and have a listen to TAD speakers just to name one company that proves you wrong.

    • @adrianlow2114
      @adrianlow2114 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My point is that it is very difficult to achieve coherence when the materials are so very different from each other. I don't think I said it is impossible. And yes I have heard TAD, in fact I was a dealer ...

    Playing the cynic: the McIntosh gear cloudies up the sound to make their identifiable "warm" sound, and the Sonus Faber has euphonic resonances.
