You are not supposed to open it all in one motion. You are supposed to open 2 or 3 feet and let the shocks relax and then full open. This is the reason you will see slack in awnings every once in a while with the wind. Shocks are damaged forcing them straight open
I seen a video where the RV mechanic said to go out half way with your awning a stop, wait about 15 seconds and then continue going out or you can mess up the hydraulic cylinder that connects to the Dometic awning. He also said Rv Dealers dont tell people this because some of them want you to come back to their dealership for maintenance and to buy more parts.

Do you think you may need to use a dry lubricant so dirt won’t attract to the places that you are spraying. I use CRC dry PTFE lube. Just asking never used the silicon before on those joints thanks for the information.
When one of both are seized up or offer little to no resistance...... if the awning arm is sagging on one or both sides, if a light gust of wind slams the awning arms against the trailer. The struts keep the awning tight and allows the arms to absorb wind gusts.

Did the same thing to mine earlier today and included the slide and what a difference that made

When you first take your awning out only open it 18 in let it rest open the rest of the same way going in if not you will lose seals on your hydraulic

Don't lubricate the tilt adjustment (the knob). This is a friction clamp. Lubricating this affect the clamps ability to hold tight.

That's probably a good idea. I was using what I had on hand but I think dry lube could be a bit better long term. Thanks!
