I've listened to this many times, I'm a longstanding lamb and am quite familiar with her voice -- this is completely SEAMLESS, I could not tell the difference in the audio when first hearing the song until the whistles, since this was not really featured during the "Music Box" era. I know it's a very small part, but I am so impressed how well it blends. I had no idea the extent of what she added this year. It was a completely successful execution, in my opinion. One of the best tracks on the album!
It seems like the song was not done. The fades out at the end. And we know mariah is known for having 4mins in a track. Maybe after the label rejected it they didn't continue it. That's why she needs to add the ending vocals
@@thiagoferreira5210 i dont think that he or she was tryin to say thats the only thing she is know four and frankly she does usually make a lot of 4 min tracks or close to....
How can you tell it was def from 2020? I didn't notice at all. What I DID notice was that the track seemed like a demo, because her voice sounded a bit congested - like it wasn't meant to be the final vocals. This may be my fave song from the Rarities album. I can't believe it didn't make the final cut. It would've fit perfectly...so 90s and so reminiscent of the George Michael spirit that so clearly inspired the Music Box album!
you can tell because in the 90s is when she had the teenage girl tone, she sounds mature in the later part, real mariah carey fans can tell from what year it was from just by listening without even looking to see what album the song is from, you could play any song from mariah and we can tell by what year it was from based on the vocals
You can definitely hear that the tone is different; more brittle in 2020 and she's lost the power in her voice that she had in 1993. Quite sad actually.
Ummm she’s 50 years old now.. not 23. There’s a huge difference. When you are young everything is fresh and full of stamina and power. Mariah has used her voice endlessly for over 30 years just to give great music. Her voice has hit every vocal scale there is and has went thru lots of transitions thru the years with her singing her heart out. Whose voice would be the same as it was in their youth? Celine Dion’s voice isn’t the same as it was 20 something years ago
Omg clean your damn ears!!! It’s obvious that it’s two different tones on the damn song… the first half was young Mariah’s voice and the second was older/current Mariah’s vocals. And y’all are lambs and can’t identify the difference in her tones ?
I swear this is how these rumors get stared. There aren't any 2020 vocals added to this song. Why would she do that? That defeats the purpose of the project.
Probably the song wasn't finished or was too short if you notice both 1993 parts are the same, so she needed to add something to make it more dynamic and interesting
I didn't even realize the part right before the whistle was 2020...her voice melts right in wow.
The whistle was recorderd in 1991
It's not. This song was recorded for Music Box and discarded because it was too similar to Now That I Know.
@@charles9493 nope, the texture of her whistle is clearly from 2019-2020
@@Liamresume doubtful
@@mariahwhitneycelinejanetmadona it's not🤦🏻♂️ her whistle sounds like this now (like head voice)
I recognized it instantly, those whistles and that run definitely wasn’t types Mariah used pre 2005
The “ever” in forever gave it away for me instantly
I think the “everything that i adore” in all the choruses are her recent voice too
No

Brandy, I am a longstanding lamb too and was thinking as you are how seamless this is!! It's one of my favorites also 😁

Is she really known for having 4 minutes In a track?
Mariah is known for her whistle not for having max 4 minutes in a track wtf
@@thiagoferreira5210 i dont think that he or she was tryin to say thats the only thing she is know four and frankly she does usually make a lot of 4 min tracks or close to....
The fade out does seem quite abrupt, I do think if it were out in 93 the song would have gone on, so she added some vocals to tie it up.
Extended version is out now!
They say that Mariah already lost her voice but I hadn't noticed the difference until I saw this video wow😻the whistle sounds like 93
My fav song wtfff I still can't believe she exists
2020 Mimi: Girl lemme help you finish this song. MB Mariah thanks gurl! 2020 Mimi: 🎉 for the raraties!!!
Best song on rarities for a reason
I definitely noticed. I had assumed the song might not have been finished. Then the extended version came out a few years later lol
I seriously didn’t hear it at first listen. Its so seamless
I think 0:05 'o ooh' that part is already her 2020 vocal.
🤔🤔🤔 this is a tough one
Yesssss definetly
I don't what to choose 'cuz in 1993 her voice has still those dark voices. While 2020 has the same one.
Thats what im thinking also.and they just copied the first part to the last part with fade.
I think what mainly changed are the placement and how she sang her open vowels
0:06 I thought 'forever' was still 1993
Na
There is a slight nasal sound, so I would say 2020
@@maurogentile7669 wow yeah, that was definitely 2020, amazing
Me 2
If it was 1993 she would say "forevah" because that's how you sing r's at the end of words when you sing
Probably after listening after 4 or 5 times . The ending part is that 2020 Mimi!!!!
That dress!
I particularly love the adlib at 0:17

It's my fav from the album!!! Talking about the vocals, you can definitely hear the tone change and she sounds exactly like 2020
@@bzl9194 Interesting. I also love Slipping Away and Do You Think of Me but I knew those already. This one was a total, blissful surprise.

She could rock that song in current shows.
She was right when she said her voice is still the same
stacatto whistles
You know!
Omg so I’m not going crazy! I thought the last part of the song sounded like her recent vocals!!!!
I still think it sounds the same haha
Am I the only person who loved this when they noticed it. It put such a smile on my face
OMG I KNEW I WASNT CRAZY THERE WAS A CURRENT TONE
I said this to.my friends and they didn't believe me. I mean it was so obvious that the whistle part was 2020
Awesome!!!
Wow😍😍
so i wasn't the only one who didn't know she slipped her 2020 vocals in until the 2nd listen 😭
2020 vocals sound like RAINBOW vocals TBH
Sempre ❤️ linda
❤my angle
Didn't get it.. she added 2020 vocals on that?
Yes! It seems the song wasn’t finished
You can also hear her voice joining the background vocals I think this was a unfinished song
A year later you were right since the full is out now
whats funny is that i said that on instagram... i said why does the part at the end sound like 2020 mariah
Crazy that nowadays they could easily use IA to fill the rest haha

I love that song so much that i made a clip for this, i didn't know that it was made on 2020.

You're right. Sad to admit that there is difference in terms of her vocal prowess from then to now. But we know its part of growing up.

1993 Mariah could do it all these are 1993 vocals you all need to stop trying.
I'm shocked so many ppl think it's 2020, not implying she couldn't sing it now but I just don't see where the big shift in tone is
Although the extended version of this song doesn't have these runs so maybeee
