Honestly he's perfectly fine as is, and Hilbert is super solid too, especially after getting ex role striker, now he can AOE high damage bug on opponents. This has even helped Hilbert be a decent off type unit, not amazing but he can hold his own with the right allies. Alder frankly just needs that too, his 4/5 grid is really good, and either tech or support to give him more damage output, while support giving defense buffs too helping him survive a bit, is all he needs. Bug is far from suffering like it used to be. I mean maybe it's still one of the types hurting the most... but it's no normal type lol where their only value is off typing. I'd honestly say flying is probably in a rougher spot... to which ehhh Blueot is probably going to happen in the future, that or Bluestoise the squeakuel.
If you wanted a good bug unit Hilbert, Variety Noland, and SC Barry more then fill in that role, still we are missing a Master Fair level unit for the type.

Cynthario was the ultimate wall, on or off type, but Bellelba certainly gives her a run for her money. I'd argue if not ran together Diantha Diancie is a bit better than Neo Silver, but they certainly thrive together. I forgot about Barry and Selene, and no idea how good they are.

Especially if these are exclusive alts to champions... that could work for Ash lol whether we're considering his Alola champion status or Champion among Champions status. I feel like it's just like last years where just because they're so busted yes they can work together, but doesn't mean they should be together lol. I have Steven and Cynthia and can attest to this, and don't think Lance would really provide much else, not being AOE like them, his TM is selfish and greedy only helping himself, he is purely brute strength single targets. Steven can help the whole team and AOE's a few times, while Cynthia is completely AOE, honestly her biggest flaw (haven't checked sync grid) is unlike Silver she doesn't protect the team from sandstorm. I mean I still run Kanto Neo Trio, but easily they work better with respective teams lol. Leaf with Redzard and Morty-Ohs, Bluedos with Redchu and (insert electric terrain unit here (note 1)). They dominate together, but steal the show with respective typings. To which their aging process will determine how they hold up. Reduno has the best chances of last years, while Cynthia does of this year's. meanwhile anni 3's units do work perfectly in sync, true Cynthia works better on a fighting team, but she's an all-around perfect wall for any team, even in the presence of fire type opponents her weakness. Meanwhile anni 2... ssss I don't know about that, especially only ever getting Lily, me thinks... NOPE lol. I still think last years will still continue to be a better team than this year's though if ran together going forward, while anni 3's was the best. ((note 1) personally I like Volkner and Elesa so swap between Luxray and Emolga, Emolga is arguably better despite the 1 time only dynamax e-terrain, because of Redchu's extensions it'll last till Bluedos syncs and over, Blue sync moves, 2 elec rebuffs, Redchu goes giga, there's terrain 2 and speeds up sync, Emolga also uses TM to speed up sync, use her to sync especially if you've ex roled her being a sprinter, then boom 3rd sync and E-Terrain 2 still in play, ex rolled Redchu then activates 3rd E-Terrain)
I really enjoy running SS Piers with NC Blue and SST Red. He sets Electric Terrain first attack and extends it. Then has another Electric Terrain first Sync and extends that.
