When Mr. Isaacson is interviewing someone I stop and listen and I'm always thankful for it. And now I'm thankful for Mr. McBride, who's books I will soon be reading. This was a moving interview that I shared with some friends. Thank you to everyone involved....especially PBS!

Philadelphia and the Variety Club Camp for Handicapped Children…my man. Sy worked hard to create the same kind of community for us at camp. I was there summers 1965, 66, and 67. It changed my life too.

Mr. McBride is a godsend. Just listening to him, he emanates such love and positivity. Reading his novel during a very tough time was a like a saving, life-altering experience I can't describe. It was amazing to hear how Chona was inspired by his grandma, and about how the research took 15 yrs, and his experience with the camp. Bless him and this interview.

The first few sentences of any book really matters to me and determines if I will finish the book. I have to say, I absolutely love that colourful picture and matching vases.😊

    I just finished this book
    I 😢… loved the characters …
    I kept re- reading sections
    Became emotional at the end

Does anyone know what part of NC his dad, Andrew McBride was from? My mom grew up with a lot of “McBride’s” in her small town here in nc.
