Sadly bulldogs are so overbred that they struggle throughout their lives. A Staffie (Staffordshire Bull Terrier) or even a Pitbull would be more appropriate. (Pitbulls are not vicious given the correct upbringing and training.) Great story, though, and most people think bulldogs are like they were in the 1950s.
First of all, I really love your work. I hope that putting your stories here is a precursor to publishing. Second, I sort of have an idea for you. S ee I am disabled, both physically and mentally. I would love to see a story about an alien family whose young daughter has either an accident that puts her in a wheelchair or blinds her or, like me, as something along the line of autism. In all the stories I have read or heard I never found an alien species that has anything like a service dog. Sure they have droids that can help but with no emotional connection. I would love to have them meet an earth dog whose owner shows how much they can help. I am not very verbal but I'm better than I was. At least I can write this letter now, although it took almost 50 years. A service dog, well they should be all over all the galaxies. Talk about a cultural attache ! I am sorry if I am making you mad. Your work is good enough all on its own. I would just like to see something that speaks to my life experience. See when you are disabled the way I am you are so very alone in your head. A dog is not just a helper, it is a friend. The only friend I could cope with then. It mattered, it probably saved my life. If I could share that with an alien species it would be awesome. Anyway I will listen to anything you choose to share. Thank you.
You are a survivor and an achiever. I think anything that promotes service dogs is a great idea. They grant affection as well as assistance and that can be critical.
