Hi I'm Lynn and I'm using my Hubby's phone mines playing up 😏, I'm really enjoying your videos , it's such a shame shipping to the UK is so expensive 😏, still we can still enjoy your vids , Thank You x

That's really nice to hear 🌺🌸😘 *(I only ever thought the person I was preparing the "fabric auditions" for was going to be watching them... so it's really nice to hear that others are enjoying them too)... and if ever I can help you out with an order, don't hesitate to let me know 😊 (I do try and 'squeeze' every little bit of lovely fabric etc in- to get the very best value out of the shipping cost allowed 😊🤗🌸😘🌺👌 ... I'm really thrilled to hear you are enjoying the videos... thank you...(and you're welcome to come see what we are up to over on INSTAGRAM @everythingcountry___ (3 underscores)... thanks for writing Lynn... Happy Stitching... Regards, Debbie D
Your definitely doing right doing in straight lines. I tried making a quilt , starting of with grandmas flower garden , but there was a lot of infills, so I build up on what I had already put together not an easy job, my quilt is 108 x 108 inches. I am trying to straighten edges along the way. A little challenge to say the least. Well keeping me busy with such a big size, plus it’s very heavy on my knee while sewing together. You right about seeing stitches, I can see some in mine, but I have used same cotton throughout lots of different colours, a very pale grey has been used. Live and learn. The joy will soon come when , I have to quilt the finished product. May try doing on the machine, rather than my hand, which was my plain. Thank you for all your tips very enjoyable.
@@richardfinney5081 thank you so so much Debbie for your help and support . I use a no. 10 milliners needle and my thread is always gutterman . Not sure if there is a better thread ?? Your help is very much appreciated , as I enjoy doing EPP work , and want to be able to be as best as I can .Hence why I watch people like you to learn as much as I can . You always explain things clearly , and make it easy to understand . So I thank you for that . Maybe I should think about choosing several colour threads , I do try my best to keep working across my work in straight lines , but always room For improvement . So once again a. If thank you keep your vloggs coming .take care
Thank you so much for this beautiful reply. I absolutely love being able to 'teach' and pass on my skills so that others can enjoy their work too. (It's really satisfying for both the maker - and for myself- when we can see a definite improvement in the quality of beautiful EPP work being done.) And yes, I love the Gutermann Silk Thread... and love all the beautiful Daruma Silk Threads too... (if you are wanting to give yourself a little treat, you might like to look at some of the Daruma Silk colours I sell... and have a test of how beautiful they are to use in person)...they glide through your fabric like butter, so smooth and strong. Thank you so much for your really lovely reply. I'm so glad you enjoyed all my tips given in this video. Thank you. Unfortunately, my very first video ended up being filmed in the midst of a storm, and had lots of noise interference etc through heavy rain, hail and power and trees coming down. I know I had lots of trouble with it being able to load... and took me hours and multiple attempts when I originally made it. *(it is still there in the 'background' and I hope one day to be able to try and re-listen to it all... to see how bad the interference is...) 🫣😊 My videos were initially made to support and back up all the information I taught during my classes...Never did I think they would be so appreciated by others around the world... thank you so much for your lovely words. 🤗 Happy Stitching to you. Just found you. My stitches were showing on my work. I had discovered a darker thread was better. As you said in the tutorial making sure my stitches were straight across was definitely key to not have my stitches show. Thanks for a great tutorial

Hi Debbie, Ági here from South Africa. I would like to give honour where honour is due. You are an excellent teacher. Born to teach indeed! It is so wonderful to see someone living out the very gift God has blessed them with. I accidentally stumbled onto this lesson on u-tube & within 10 mins I learnt so much. You are so thorough & explain every detail exceptionally well. I would love, in the near future, learn to do some patchwork including English Paper Piecing & will definitely keep in touch with you. The work you display in the background is also stunning. You have a very good eye for colour. I look forward to connecting with you in the future as well. I will download these lessons & one day I will show you what I have achieved through your incredibly good teachings. I love the beautiful fabrics you use as well😍
Thank you Agi for your very kind comments indeed. You have written so eloquently... and made me feel very humble indeed. I am so pleased you enjoyed the lesson and all the tips... and I wish you much happiness as you go on to practice your EPP... it is a beautiful thing to do. 💖 Thank you so much for your beautiful words... and know that i really appreciate all that you have said. 💕 Happy Stitching... @caspinall6296 Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I'm so glad you enjoyed all the tips on the video. Unfortunately when I taped the very first one, it was in the midst of a bad storm season here, and there was lots of power outages, heavy hail and rain noises etc that all interfered with the tapings etc. I have been asked for it numerous times, but I'm unsure how bad the interference is. Perhaps at end of year, when I get a bit of time... I'll have a relook at it. Thank you for your lovely comments, and I hope you continue to enjoy your EPP journey. (I'm actually going to be hosting a free online Christmas project for my Insta followers if you'd like to follow along & join in there 🤗) @everythingcountry___ (3 underscores).
Just caught up with this video. It's great. I have learnt so much and I'm really excited to make something good. I have made a water bottle cover and am half way through sewing small hexies together to make a pouch with a zip to keep my EEP things in. Armed with my new information I know my next project will be great. Thank you so much.

I just found this video and hoping you’ll see my comment since the video was made two years ago. I do English paper piecing, but by watching this video, I have learned so much. Especially choosing with the color thread. I am very interested in watching part one, but I cannot find it. Can you tell me how I can watch part one. I have also scanned some of your newer videos and although I have not ever done appliqué, I am very interested in so I will watch some of those also and I am also subscribing. I hope you enjoy your journey back into hand piecing and epp again, and thank you for your really lovely comment. You have made my day 🥰🤗
Thanks so much for your video. I’ve learned new things from here. I’ve tried doing the other stitch as I saw someone doing it elsewhere but find it really hard to do, it started aggravating an old shoulder injury. I’ve learned to embrace being able to see the stitches especially after seeing some antique quilts. In a world of fast paced perfection I’ve loved slowing down and thinking that I stitched every single one of those tiny stitches. It makes me feel proud of myself. Im going to try silk thread at your recommendation. I’ve been using Aurifl 80 weight and have a Sue Daley pack of Wonderfil 80 weight but found it frustrating with the needle becoming unthreaded all of the time. Would be awesome if you could do a tutorial on needle turn appliqué. That sounds a bit above my level but would love to learn it.
Thanks for the straight stitch technique. Been doing EPP for many years and only did whipstitch. The straight stitch so much more tidy. Great technique. Thanks very much. 🇦🇺

I think you like blues don’t you hehe I can see a definite blue in your materials hehe we all have a favourite colour I think if we are honest l enjoyed today thank you l very interesting your cotton choice . What would you do if you were doing hexagons in a multi coloured . I have just made a 7x 7 ft quilt with maybe 30 -40 different colours . Winders what you may go for then , I used a mid grey , but stitches in places were still visible, I can see you have answered why I can see the stitches, very helpful tip.
@karentoynton8948 Hi Karen, thank you for your comments, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. (I actually love reds and creams, etc, the most)...I think it was because I was sitting near a blue section of fabrics whilst filming this for my girls in classes with me... never did I think it would be so popular and go out to tens of thousands of people!!😊🤗) 👏👏 ... but I do love that everybody picks up some different tips that may help them. I think that's great! And yes, when you are doing projects with multiple colours you will still find that usually within about 3 thread colours, you've still covered what you need. 😊 And for those who do want to stitch with just the one color, you tend to find that a mid Grey or mid tan will cover almost everything well 🤗 And really, when you get really good at doing the "straight across" Part of the stitch "in the folds of the 2 fabrics"... the thread WILL ALWAYS HIDE WELL... and be unseen, which is terrific. 👏👏 so yes, your choice of color would be perfect on a multi color quilt... especially IF YOU CAN KEEP YOUR STITCHES STRAIGHT ACROSS, and NOT on any angle /// 👏👏👏 I hope that all makes sense. A nice fine needle, an equally nice fine thread that just glides through... but is still strong, but most importantly of all keeping the stitches straight across ... and going in and out 'through the folds'. Happy Stitching to you... and enjoy creating your EPP. Kind Regards, Debbie
Thank you so much for your lovely reply . I would love to try the threads you mention , however living in the Uk , the taxes you have to pay are silly. I will have a look here, but I have never seen the make threads you mention sadly. But I will be going to the sewing shop I use to buy a material on Monday so I will ask , as they sell several different makes in there, it’s is very unfortunate about shipping costs or I would be placing an order with you. I will however continue to watch your very valued sewing vloggs and keep on learning . So a bi big thank you for that.
@karentoynton8948 No worries at all Karen, I understand fully. I would highly recommend specifically checking for the "Daruma" brand of Silk Thread if you have a chance to access it. You will love it!! The silk just glides through. (You don't happen to live near Devon in the UK do you??? I have a lovely customer over there...🤗). Enjoy your EPP. 👌

@karentoynton8948 I'm not sure of the particular area, I would have to find that bit out... but I do know she is coming over here about Mar/April of next year... so if really interested , it may be something we could look at organizing closer to then...(She's literally just had some recent purchases as a family member is going over to her... so it was a great opportunity to get a few of the lovely EPP things I use and highly recommend. The thread, needles, sandpaper Board, mirror etc... so that was great). 👏👏👏 ) where there's a will, there's usually a way... with us (addicted to) patchwork girls 😅😂 ha ha 😂 happy Stitching.

Sorry forgot add please could you advise for EPP what thread you would use. I think getting this right is really very important. Hehe thank you again. Look forward to seeing your next video.
Thanks very much for your comments. I showcased the threads through out the video including the 2 brands of it that I really recommend... and personally use myself too. We use a beautifully fine SILK THREAD, both in the Daruma and Guiterman brand. When used with the Milliners Needles size 11, they both just glide through your EPP. I also use them for all my Needleturn Appliqué and sewing of the binding on by hand. Regards, Debbie
Hi Veronica, thank you for your lovely comments. I'm glad you found the information helpful 👏👏 And in relation to the silk thread... single strand only. (The whole point of choosing a lovely fine needle, and a lovely fine, strong thread - is that they will both glide through your EPP... and 'disappear' into your work. Doubling up the thread would make it quite 'thick' again... and therefore harder to pull through... and not 'glide'. I hope this helps. Happy Stitching to you 🌷

Hi there I live in QLD Australia and jst came across ur video I taught myself EPP by watching youtube as theres no sewing classes around near me to learn EPP can you use invisible thread fo this ?
Hi Gina, welcome to the wonderful world of EPP. (It can be very addictive!!😊) Whilst it's not something I would personally recommend, it doesn't mean you couldn't try if you wanted to...). My thoughts behind not using it... is that it is a plastic/ synthetic thread... that I do know can 'melt' under excessive heat). .. from the iron etc...and with EPP there is no actual fabric 'seam' that crosses over one another when joining your Hexies together... so you are relying solely on the strength of a 'plastic' thread to not deteriorate...🙉🙊🫠. This is not something, I'd be personally comfortable with. When we are choosing our thread... our aim is to have/ use a Fine strong thread that will "glide" through your fabric, ... hence the very fine needle... and the very FINE thread. I feel that you would be better off to do the flat backstitch that I recommend... and use a Fine straw Milliners needle too... preferably size 11. I wish you well, and hope that you enjoy your EPP journey... Best wishes and happy Stitching to you. 😊🤗 Kind Regards, Debbie 🌷
@debbiedonegan7335 Thanx for that information which is very helpful jst need to order the Milliners needles then I've got everything I am thinking of getting some Sewtites as I do get abit of cramp holding the hexies together ☺️
@ginaashby6782 If you try to loosen your hold a little bit whilst you are stitching your EPP ... You'll find you won't get as much pain through your fingers. (Is the 'tight grip' that tends to cause a bit of pain... until your muscle memory kicks in too). Practice does make it much easier, and your muscles remember the motions... so my biggest tip is to be conscious of dropping your shoulders and not hold things so tightly... enjoy your Stitching 🌷
@RoseWaddell-jj7oe Hi Rose, can you take a screenshot/ photo of the fabric you are referring to please... and then I'll be able to advise you further (once I know which particular fabric you are after). Ta Regards, Debbie
Loved your video and found that back and forth stitch very interesting. I’m not quite sure how you would knot the thread, would it be underneath the fabric?
Hi Diane, yes you simply do your knot so that the needle goes between the fabric layer and the paper layer... holding your "shapes" flat... that way the knot... and all your stitches sit very neatly in the two folds.... NOT A STITCH IN SIGHT!! 🤗🥰😘 Is a really good method, and all you have to ensure is that your glue is dry before starting...🥰😘 ( I've just been featured on a very quick little video on craftalivehawkesbury facebook... showing me stitching this method again - if you'd like to have a quick look). It really works well. Cheers, Debbie 🌺
Thank you Debbie…I watched your video on craftalive and it was great info. My question is how to knot at the end of the row. I understand the knot when you start, just not when you end. I didn’t see that on either video…thank you for replying 🙂

(Just confirming you are referring to our beautiful EPP Snowflake Runner...( it has the cream as the background... and the blue fussy cut designs on top...😊) Yes, I do sell a packet containing both the EPP Paper shapes and the Template needed to create this lovely Table Runner. *( it also comes in 2 separate sizes , so you can choose to use it on either small reproduction style prints... or The 2 1/2" size which is what we used here...i recommend on larger scale floral prints). I would also highly recommend our viewers mirrors for help 'finding' all the gorgeous designs... from within the one print. If you are interested in the papers etc I can make a personal listing for you to look at on my website... Regards, Debbie
@@debbiedonegan7335 , I'm referring to the one that has the look of a Jane Austen diamond quilt. If that's what you answered about, then yes I would be interested in the papers etc. Thanks for replying!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed Epp video no.2, ... that is great. I filmed number 1 in the midst of what turned out to be a huge storm, with torrential rain, power up/ down etc... so had it up for my girls doing classes.. and then took it down again, not thinking anyone else would want to be viewing them... I can't believe the positive comments, thank you. I shall have a look later next week ( see what it's like... and see if I can pop it back up for you again 🥰😘 thank you so much for all the lovely comments and support). Hi Susan, My recommendation is to always have the thread with a 10cm 'hang'... and then to the length of your own elbow. ( Not longer... as This saves any 'twisting' of the Threads, unneccessary knots etc). * This length is the same as recommended for hand embroidery etc too. Hope this helps. Happy Stitching REGARDS, Debbie
@laurienorton7422 I'm sorry you can't see the replies (I've never heard that before from anyone... and I've not done anything from my end, so I really don't know why that's happening sorry. It's a shame though as there are LOTS of helpful things written in the replies too... and lots of lovely comments on how much 'customers' have improved their stitching (and understanding of what they are doing) with all the tips given. So that's great. 🤗 The original No.1 was filmed (over many tries) during a really bad storm period here... and was made for my 6 to 8 customers to help back up what they had learnt in class with me). Never did I think it would be appreciated by tens of thousands of people over the internet!!! So that's great if anyone else benefits from all the tips given, and is then kind enough to leave a nice comment about it... Unfortunately with No.1 being filmed during the extremely bad storms there is a lot of power outages (we had no power for 5 days that time), there was noise interference from the hail and very heavy rain on the roof etc so I withdrew it from being seen after my class girls had seen it, because it had so much interference and I had spent many long weeks on trying to get it to tape well enough for them. ) ... but I hope you atleast enjoy all the free tips givento you in this video. Happy Stitching to you. Regards, Debbie
Good Morning Betty. I'm glad you have enjoyed Part 2 of my EPP Video. (Part 1 was my very first video filmed for the girls doing my classes. It ended up being during the middle of a torrential storm, with very heavy rain, thunder etc. ) I am in the middle of a bout of pneumonia at the moment,... but will look back and review how much interference etc it had in it... to see if it is suitable for viewing... thank you.

Unfortunately, my very first video ended up being filmed in the midst of a storm, and had lots of noise interference etc through heavy rain, hail and power and trees coming down.
Thank you so much for your beautiful words... and know that i really appreciate all that you have said. 💕 Happy Stitching...

I have been asked for it numerous times, but I'm unsure how bad the interference is. Perhaps at end of year, when I get a bit of time... I'll have a relook at it.
Thank you for your lovely comments, and I hope you continue to enjoy your EPP journey. (I'm actually going to be hosting a free online Christmas project for my Insta followers if you'd like to follow along & join in there 🤗)

Thank you for the tutorial it has made me feel like doing handpiecing again. I never liked the stitches showing and i had a class with a well known tutor. Thanks again
Thank you for such a lovely review and comment. I am sooo pleased to hear it has given you the confidence to pick up needle and thread again, that is EXCELLENT!! 🤗👏👏 Woo hoo!!

And for those who do want to stitch with just the one color, you tend to find that a mid Grey or mid tan will cover almost everything well 🤗
And really, when you get really good at doing the "straight across" Part of the stitch "in the folds of the 2 fabrics"... the thread WILL ALWAYS HIDE WELL... and be unseen, which is terrific.

In relation to my first video, it was filmed during a period of big storms here on our property in Australia... and I was making it for my little class of 8 girls... never did I think my tips would go out to 27,000 people know!!! ...That's crazy!!! )
But yes, I withdrew the first video after it had a lot of noise disturbance and continual power problems during the filming, etc. So at some stage, when I get a bit of spare time up my sleeve, I will sit down and realists to it... and see how bad the storm interference is... and perhaps be able to resurrect it if it's not too bad.
Thank you again for your lovely comments, I really appreciate it... and Happy Stitching to you. Kind Regards, Debbie Donegan

Found this video to be extremely helpful. Looked for the first one.
Question for you. Is your silk thread double?
Hi Veronica, thank you for your lovely comments. I'm glad you found the information helpful 👏👏
And in relation to the silk thread... single strand only.
Happy Stitching to you 🌷
Hello lovely video but can’t find video 1
Would love to find your 1st video?
Thank you so much for your lovely comment... if you'd like to see the comment I pinned up top/ above, I am looking at putting it back up later next week...😘 if I can. So glad you enjoyed watching EPP no.2

Hi there I live in QLD Australia and jst came across ur video I taught myself EPP by watching youtube as theres no sewing classes around near me to learn EPP can you use invisible thread fo this ?
Hi Gina, welcome to the wonderful world of EPP. (It can be very addictive!!😊)
Whilst it's not something I would personally recommend, it doesn't mean you couldn't try if you wanted to...).
Kind Regards,
Debbie 🌷
Where can I get a couple of yards of the dragonfly fabric that you have in this video?
@RoseWaddell-jj7oe Hi Rose, can you take a screenshot/ photo of the fabric you are referring to please... and then I'll be able to advise you further (once I know which particular fabric you are after). Ta

The darker color thread lays into the shadow of the seam of 2 pieces and it disappears. Light thread is like a beam of light and really stands out.
It's very true, the darker thread always recedes into the background 👏👏👏 I hope you enjoyed some of the tips in the video 🤗
Hello Debbie ! Found you through the jardin poche quilt. I would enjoy Part I if you can upload it please. Also, Can I buy the pattern as a pdf download please? Many thanks. From USA So California. 💐☀️
Hi Keri-OnThe Porch, thank you for your enquiry, and glad you liked Part 2 of my EPP Video. Yes, I hope to have a much needed week off in the not too distant future and will be looking to retape Part 1 for all those who would like to look at it then... thank you.
In relation to the beautiful Jardin de Poche Embroidery and Applique Quilt, there is no pdf available for this pattern as the designer has included an acrylic template as part of the original Pattern... and produced the pattern in a beautiful A5 Pattern Booklet form.
Unfortunately because of needing the template for this design, she has not made a pdf option available at all for these gorgeous patterns.
*as a little side note, I do sell both versions of this gorgeous Pattern, complete with full gorgeous Linen and Liberty KITs ... via the pages on my instagram (and website).
@everythingcountry___
*(I have many versions of the kits showcased on my Insta feed...🥰,
And will be running a new program for it (with Zoom classes etc) starting again around mid year.
A number of beautiful girls are joining me (from the US, Canada and Australia for our Zoom Embroidery and Applique classes this year... 🥰 )
(Sorry that there are no pdf options available for this beautiful pattern). Don't hesitate to get back in touch if I can help you out in any other way. ... and we always aim to fill parcels to make the most economical use of the postage cost... thank you. ) 🌷
Happy Stitching

Are there epp paper templates for the diamond shape over your left shoulder? Absolutely love that pattern!
Hi Linda thank you for your enquiry.
(Just confirming you are referring to our beautiful EPP Snowflake Runner...( it has the cream as the background... and the blue fussy cut designs on top...😊)
Yes, I do sell a packet containing both the EPP Paper shapes and the Template needed to create this lovely Table Runner.
Yes to papers, template & mirror. See further details below 🤗
@@debbiedonegan7335 , I'm referring to the one that has the look of a Jane Austen diamond quilt. If that's what you answered about, then yes I would be interested in the papers etc. Thanks for replying!
Thank you. Where can I find video no. 1?
Me too! Video #2 is excellent.

Happy Stitching Everyone 😘🌺
How long should the thread be when starting to stitch?
Hi Susan, My recommendation is to always have the thread with a 10cm 'hang'... and then to the length of your own elbow. ( Not longer... as This saves any 'twisting' of the Threads, unneccessary knots etc).
* This length is the same as recommended for hand embroidery etc too.
Hope this helps.
Happy Stitching
REGARDS, Debbie
First time I've ever seen the replys to comments arent shown but the original comment is there. Still dont know where part 1 is.
The original No.1 was filmed (over many tries) during a really bad storm period here... and was made for my 6 to 8 customers to help back up what they had learnt in class with me).
I can't find the video for part one.
hey love youre video but i cant fint part one
Please repost part 1 or possibly remake it for us
Trying to find part 1?

Thank you for your comment, all of my contact details could be found at the end... thank you. Happy Stitching. 😊
Where can I find Part 1 of EPP?
11:15
Good Morning Betty. I'm glad you have enjoyed Part 2 of my EPP Video. (Part 1 was my very first video filmed for the girls doing my classes. It ended up being during the middle of a torrential storm, with very heavy rain, thunder etc. ) I am in the middle of a bout of pneumonia at the moment,... but will look back and review how much interference etc it had in it... to see if it is suitable for viewing... thank you.
I hope you enjoyed all the tips...And if you'd like to follow along on our journey, you are welcome to follow along on my Socials... thank you.
