I've decided to try using Facebook to promote a brand new Facebook page I've created for my product in order to build a community and push that traffic to my opt-in page.
Here's my question: should I simply use Facebook ads to advertise my landing page directly? Or use the ads to try and build a Facebook community first?

What about when you're selling a specific item? This is my first time advertising. I refinish furniture and linked my ad to my post selling the table, with info about the table and price. I targeted locally and set my demographic. I am just not sure if it's ok to link the ad right to a sales post?

Awesome Tip Mr. Matthew Loop. Do you feel that timing might also be an important factor in determining ad placement? For example do you find there are particular times of the day for which you place ads that generate more leads? I particularly like the idea of directing persons to some value added item on your website in your ad as opposed to directing them to a store.

Matthew, I'm an affiliate for United Games and need to get people to register to play a free Interactive mobile sports app. I have tried a few ads on Facebook but had no success. What would you recommend?
I usually have a CPC of $0.01-$0.06, but I have horrible conversion to sales. I recently successfully sent 60,000 people to my page for $250 or so total, but barely any of them made a sale. I don't know if it was a bad ad (i tried that multipicture scroll setting) or I'm having the wrong approach?

We in Iraq. All our online sells are directly via FB. So boosting posts is the best options. Mostly because they don't like to go to other websites to buy things. i spend about $40k in about a year. I hope you can help me with this - Lookalike Audiences that are made based on my customer e-mail list and Conversion Pixel were doing wonders for me, but there is always that period at the end of the reach where it all thins down. So I always wonder how this lookalike audence method works, because I have a feeling that when It comes to an end, that It just recicles people that have already seen my ad. First of all thanks for this info. And who am I to question your expertise and success...but I do have a question. Would you say that landing pages will never be successful? Or just not nearly as successful? My strategy is to use Facebook ads to get business. To do online marketing for businesses so they can get back to what they do best.....their business. I am looking in the right audiences, think I am doing things pretty good with compelling picture strategies, and with the writing of the ads. But if I change from going away from a landing page...I am just questioning how I need to try and start that sales funnel differently now. I appreciate any insights you or anyone else can give.

In your first tip, when you talk about building an email list, how would you personally go about getting people to provide their email? I have a public blog on my business website but since its public viewers would not have to enter an email therefore my email list is not growing.

Greg Prasker Facebook can get you consistent new client referrals if worked right. Advertising on the social network is just one of the ways. It's not about the dark post, but how it's used. The ad copy and image + where you're directing the traffic to on your website.

Katy McDermott Thank you... Drive FB ad traffic to a page that collects a name and email so you can build a list. Then, you can convert them into a customer that way. People aren't on FB to buy stuff, they're on the social network to hang-out with friends. So, normally we have to soften them up and build a relationship first. An email list is something you control. We don't control what FB may do with pages and groups tomorrow. So, I'm not big on driving ads traffic to groups.

I'm still a bit confused, though - I'm in the process of setting up a website to sell a kids' book I wrote, as well as promote local animal shelters and offer relevant information to the dog-loving community. So, should I do a FB page or a FB group in addition to my website? And again, where should I direct click traffic on the FB ad? Also, what do you charge for a consult? I want to put an effective marketing strategy in place before I get going!
Katy McDermott You're welcome, Katy. Yes, you'll want to have a Facebook fan page and a group. Unless you have a big budget to play with, I wouldn't drive Facebook ads traffic solely to your fan page, though. Go to your ads manager and create a "boost post ad." But, you'll need to first post the status update on your FB fan page linking it to a landing page on your website. Please review MatthewLoop (dot) com for consulting info.

There is certainly value in both. Google is search traffic so you'll pay more per click. That's not a bad thing necessarily if your website does a great job at converting that traffic into paying customers. Facebook traffic has to be approached differently. I talk about this in depth in my book, "Social Media Made Me Rich." You'll definitely want to reach that chapter on Facebook.

+matt toronto Don't try to 'sell' - build relationships with your market, create a narrative that is relevant to your target audience, every real estate agent is doing the same thing-differentiate yourself from the herd. Promotional videos that are ranked in search can be a great ice breaker, from their you can build your presence using a Facebook 'fan page'.
Facebook was charging me $2.50 for my specific buyers in my city. Sounds like I need to make the ad itself targeted rather than just the people it's shown to in order to save money.
