    I have a 2004 Lexus Es300 and when I bought it the car would lag for like 1 - 2 seconds when put in Drive during a cold start. If you sat in the car you would think it had a bad transmission, after doing tuneups and cleaning the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner (dont use anything else) IT WAS FIXED!! Literally feels like I changed the transmission. Guys if you have any lag or delay in acceleration try cleaning that MAF sensor first

      My car had new fluid in box and as I was in the workshop I changed air filter I can't remember plugging the sensor back .drove out of the shop it lags like hell thought it's the clutch's gone. Left it in the workshop for a month now. Will go back this weekend and check if it was the MAF not box

    My 2001 LS430 have the same issue, it only started this winter season.. temp is around 30ish Fahrenheit, it won’t engage into drive until the car is a little bit warm. It took about 1-2minutes of warming up before it engages. We’ll try to change fluids soon, thanks for sharing your experience

    • @petescarport
      @petescarport 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check fluid levels when fully up to temp and on very level surface. Even if it's a hair low it will do that when weather changes. After doing my second fluid change (which was needed on my car) the mechanic slightly overfilled by maybe a few ounces. After I siphoned that out it ran perfect

    This happened to me when we started getting cold weather this year. Called a very reliable honest mechanic. Before I could finish my sentence he said the seals were getting hard. Just let it warm up for a few minutes the fluid will soften them up and it will hold pressure no problems. 2002 ls 430 175000

      Did he say which seals? Can they be replaced? My Nissan Versa does this too; only below 40 degrees or so. I can put it into 1 and get rolling, then 2, then D once it's up to speed. Below 30, no go until she warms up.

    I had the same problem with my Lexus IS 250 AWD 2006. If you don’t do the service properly. You can have the incorrect fluid amount in your transmission. This problem was simple. I was about a quart low on tranny fluid. When I went to do the trans fluid check. Also, change out the little washers on the drain bolts and drain check bolts because my check bolt washer was leaking.
    Also, follow the steps to ensure your tranny is up to temp and shift through the gears when warm. Make sure your car is level.
    Hope this helps.

    I've got the exact same year, UL edition LS430 (also white) I bought 2.5 yrs ago with 103k miles w 1 previous owner who kept it maintained well. Its driven wonderfully. Until I had they ATF flushed replaced a couple weeks ago. Exact same problem. Won't engage into drive and actually "Drive" or move until cars been warmed up for several minutes. I'm taking it back to the shop Friday 10/1 and having them drop some Lucas Oil Tranny Fix in with the ATF to see if this will work. Many of the Lexus forums I've read ppl swear by this. Apparently its a common prob w these older Lexus vehicles. I've only put 42k miles on myself so the car has 145k. I know I can get it to 300k as my dad got his 2003 LS430 to 360k after he retired before he sold it in 2018. Crossing my fingers.

    • @petescarport
      @petescarport 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I have to say they most likely overfilled it. I eventually found just pulling a small amount out of tranny fluid made the car drive perfect. Your issue sounds identical. If your car is only a tad over it won’t work till it gets warm and settles. These transmissions are very delicate to even slight over or under of fluid. Good luck and let me know how it goes

    • @cwseacrest6159

      So update. I had the shop drain 24oz of TF and add a 24oz bottle of Lucas Oil Tranny Fix Fri 10/1. However since I had been driving a bit that morning taking kids to school etc and had random errands to do Fri, I figured it would be Sat morning (yesterday 10/2) after the car sat overnite b4 Id know if this worked. Yesterday Sat morning I start up cold, back out of garage, put into drive and there was a big improvement. It only had to warm up a minute instead of 5 minutes before it would engage in Drive and move. However pulling dn my driveway barely pushing on gas, RPMs seemed a little hivh and tranny seemed to be laboring a bit but when I turned onto my street from driveway it was all good. This morning Sunday, about 2 hrs ago, I start up cold, back out of garage, put into drive and it immediately engages and actually drives w/o any hesitation and no laboring. I figured it will take 4-5 days for the Lucas Oil Tranny fix to get completely blended onto my tranny and tranny fluid. Thanks for the video. It was very helpful.

    Since you're in FL. The term "cold start" is odd. But what is even more of an issue to me; which likely causes these issues. Is that folks literally just get in a cold car... start it, place it in gear, then drive off. Giving no time for any of the fluids to even warm. Lifters still dry, exhaust cold, PS fluid cold. I attribute these issues to user errors. Its an Aisin trans of all things.
