These music composers for these games are very talented. Half Life has got some of the best industrial beats. I also just played a random freeware doom mod game called Ashes 2063 and was blown away by the soundtrack on that. Cyberpunk 2077 has an excellent soundtrack also.

On my end it was the party setting up defenses for an incoming swarm of huge monstrosities (that happen to be HL2 striders). They had 4 days before they arrived, and I like to believe the music boosted their creativity because jfc the swarm got played hard by the traps, fortifications and positionings they had set up until they had evacuated all the injured soldiers and proceeded to escape narrowly the strider onslaught.
Probably for the indusrtial synth sounds and it's repetitive nature, representing the mass and strength of industries, not to mention Gordon and Alyx kickin' ass during a chopper chase.

But he stands up and rolls to lying RPG/AR2 on the ground, and fires rocket/alt back - strider/helicopter explodes* Freeman. And he's just a physicist-theoretic. Who f**ked up Nihilanth, freed vorts, ,inspired people for Resistance, destroyed the dark energy teleporter, helped citizens to escape from the city. And now he's Free. To Man things that no one can.
Imagine this music plays if Gordon Freeman was in Smash Bros. as a New Character and His Final Smash can be when He gets into the car and Alyx is in It firing at The Other Characters with a Rocket Launcher.
i played this during one of our DND campaigns. it had nothing to do with halflife, it was just a more futuristic setting instead of medieval style. my group loved it.
