There is no pixel shift on the Nikon Z5, you will need to check your facts again.
It should have been focus shift, which is not even the same thing 😅

I have to agree. Looking at the DPReview comparison, the Nikon has far better skin tones straight out of the camera on both RAW and jpeg, although the Nikon JPEG is a little heavy handed.

Really stuck here. Just wanna get into photography, as a personal hobby, but I'm too much of a tech enthusiast to let myself buy anything less than a full frame sensor camera.
I don't know if I should go with a used Sony a7iii or the Nikon Z5. Really, primarily, wanna stick with all outdoor stills, but the BIS feels important to have for that dark detail. Feels a bit contradictory to buy full frame but handicap it without good dynamic range.
Also, I read lenses for the Nikon are much more expensive than the Sony, so maybe I'm better off Sony?
Any tips or suggestions? Trying to spend as little as possible but get as much as possible here.
I own a7iii and for me is my go to camera (and most popular photographers own sony). You have alot of options if you want cheap lens(sigma, samyang, tamron), because sony lens are pretty expensive.
For example i own samyang 85 f1.4 and its amazing for street and portrait photography. And way more cheaper than sigma 85mm f1.4
Also i own sigma 100 400 and is a good choice compared to sony 100 400.
I wanted to get sony 70 200 f2.8 but is way to expensive for me, but i found out that tamron have a similar lens 70 180 f2.8 and is more than 50% cheaper.
So you will find cheap and good lenses for sony.
Totally understandable! Both are really good and it really comes down to personal preference. But budget wise, the Nikon might be a bit cheaper if you'd buy dslr lenses and an adapter for it.
I think for many outdoor sessions with bad weather conditions the Nikon is slightly better build as well. I think I would push you more towards Nikon

Hoi,im kinda struggling between the Z5 and A7 III the lenses from the z mount are pretty expensive and Sony is a bit cheaper.i have a d3300 and a kit lens plus Sigma 70-300mm should i buy like a Nikon FX lenses and adapter and a second hand Z5 or everything new
Hoi, thank you for the question. That is totally up to you. You can use the adapter and stay in the Nikon ecosystem. But there is no wrong choice because in the end it’s all your own preference.
Why sony doesn't blinking when doing burst shoot like nikon? Is it have stacked sensor or maybe it use electronic shutter?

Both are great, but I think I would go with Sony because of the huge lens options

Well if you like the Nikon Z5 then you can get a converter mount and still use the old lenses ;)
if you have DX lenses, then go Z50 , Z5 sensor will be cropped to sub 10MP to adapt DX lenses. So basically you even lose quality with Z5 , rather than have with Z50. I bought Z5 , sold my DX lenses , kept FX lenses and bought Z 40mm F2. I insanely love the Z mount tbh. i even rarely use my FX f mount lenses. The quality is just better on Z lenses period

I have a lot of f-mount lens and do more photos vs video, for me the z5 checks more boxes compares to the a7iii, maybe if someone haven't invested heavily in the Nikon eco system, the Sony will be a better option.

A good video but few facts aren't correct. The dynamic range, cost of native lenses. Adopting other lenses can be adopted from Nikon F mount to their Z mount but Sony is in a different league by itself as I also can adopt Nikon F mount lenses too while adopting alot of other lenses mount too why the Nikon can't.

Thank you!!!! I been a Nikon shooter for years and I’m finally sick of the autofocus lol. I get the job done it’s just much much slower. This is a nice switch over. Plus Sony always gets the lenses I want first.

Is auto focus performance in good for Z5 in burst mode (4.5 fps) ?
Yeah with the newest firmware update it is better than during my testing. This applies for all other modes as well.
The autofocus is almost similar now between these two cameras

So 1000 bucks is a good starting point and you have many options to choose from.

Here’s a couple of options and a couple of tips. Find the lens that you want and the get the best camera with your remaining budget. Buy used from KEH or eBay seller with a lot of good reviews.
Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 for Fuji and a Fuji x-t20
Canon RF 50 mm f/1.8 and canon Eos RP
Sigma 23mm f/1.4 and Sony a6300
Nikon z50 with kit lens

Nikon z5 had better dynamic range from my experience. do a side by side comparison with same lighting, same lens, and base iso.
Difference is really minor so to me not worth making such a comparison

From a European 2022 pov: Nikon is sold out. You cannot get lenses and only some cameras with beginner kit lenses. Also the few lenses you can get are pricier than the equivalent Sony lenses (but better quality). From what I've seen stock will be updated sometime in February. Wanted to buy the Z5 first but with all the equipment the Sony is actually less expensive. Basically, the Z5 is a money trap, yes it looks cheap at first but because there is no third party support costs will accumulate quickly if you buy anything but the kit lens.
The 50mm f/1.8 S lens is amazing though. Even available on a discount.
I own both Sony has better video feature (slow mo 120fps 1080p, slight crop in 4k and better AF). I got Z5 bec it was posted used less than 500 shutter count for sub 800

I know that z5 can go until 1/8000..then my second reason is video.. Im gonna learn to make video.. Because i was 2 years shoot wedding.. Sorry for my bad English... Im from malaysia.. 🙏❤️

But I see yeah if you want to do video then the Z5 is really a solid option. Sometimes for outdoor portraits I use a ND filter. Some cameras cannot sync high flash

It really depends on your personal needs. Maybe the following questions can help you out:
- Do you want full frame camera and just focus on photography? If yes, then go with Nikon
- Do you want a hybrid camera that is good for both photo and video and good looking straight out of camera JPEGs? If yes, then go with Fujifilm
just go with z5 :D
For stills - only Z5. I've had Z5 for a couple of months and it's really very good. Believe me, got a Olympus dslr for 10 years and I'll never ever come back to crop sensor again. You can correct many parameters in post-production, but not a sensor size : ) Pity it's not BSI, but it's still superb. And the quality od manufaturing of Z5 per price is outstanding. U can buy it now new for 1100 USD.

Z5 has low grade budget level sensor but xt3 has superior advance BSI sensor.
The autofocusing and low light performence Of xt3/xt4 are ultimate.
they captured sharp image even at 8000iso.
Z5 can never go beyond 800iso.heavy noise.
Very bad low light camera.
If you need video as well choose z6ii, if you need only foto and save 1000$ choose z5

Maybe not the best example indeed. But with the latest firmware update the face tracking is much better.

Low light preformence,autofocusing speed are too bad than an entry level apsc dslr.
Even entry level d3400 has a better low light capabilities and fast autofocusing.
