Hurricane Beryl churned toward the Cayman Islands and Mexico on Thursday after leaving a trail of destruction in southern Jamaica, killing at least two people on the island nation, bringing down power lines, and leaving hundreds homeless and in shelters.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force told NBC News that one man and one woman had died as a result of the storm in the last 24 hours. The man, age 26, was swept away by floodwaters in the capital, Kingston, on Wednesday evening.

What a tragedy. I love this part of Jamaica and I was there last year August. I also have relatives that live in the Saint. Elizabeth parish so this area is special to me.
I hope folks can rebound quickly and get the help they need to do so.
My heart is breaking for the South Coast communities. I love Jake's and all along Treasure Beach. My prayers are with you all. God will provide your restoration .

Your relatives and friends can't say you are not telling them the truth about what took place especially those persons who invest in Treasure Beach and leave someone to manage the property or business because Videos don't tell lies
I blame the business district they could form a group for the purpose of cutting overgrown bushes maintenance for gutters water table inlet and outlet always check on the roofs to see if any of the zinc need replacement there was an advertisement that always remind us to check on our rooves but decking take over and they stop advertising we can't wait or depends on no one to maintain our environment and our rooves

Jakes and Jack spratt mashup was planning to come relax at those places for my vacation now I have to put it off

Watching from Orlando, Florida. My heart is breaking, my family and I were just there in Treasure Beach last Friday and Saturday, we stayed at the first villa on the right as you enter Treasure Beach from Black River, just before the bridge, it had a blue gate. We went to Jakes to see it, it was absolutely beautiful, and we ate at Jack Sprat! We sat on a bench where the boat is bow laying, I took pictures of the kids on those beautiful steps😢. The Treausure Beach community is beautiful not only architecturally but its people as well. Praying for everyone there 🙏🏽, and so grateful to see neighbors helping neighbors❤. If you get a chance, please drive down to the end of the road just before the small bridge. There is a villa on your left that takes up an entire bay. I would love to see it😢

These are some of the most enchanting places on the Southcoast of Jamaica. I told Jason 1 week before the storm I was at my favorite getaway. I guess the devil was listening

I really want to see if Lacovia is really bad. That’s where my family is.
It looks like Jakes/Jack Sprat/Just Next Door (same owner) is mostly clean-up work, and he probably has insurance to cover damage to the businesses and sponsors for funds. What about the local people? How are they managing, and where is the help for them? They likely do not have insurance to replace their homes and things. Without roofs, many are either sleeping outside or displaced. The businesses there will recover.
Give thanks. We really dodged a bullet. Things could have been much much worse.
