Love the randomness of TH-cam that this just popped up. Reminds me of my days working in the Drum from 1993 - 2003 & 2006 - 2009. So many of the houses swept away within a few years.
My wife is from the Drum and always talks about growing up in the 90s there. Being from America it’s hard to imagine with her stories and only seeing the new build Drumchapel. Thanks for the video. 👍
Amazing! I grew up on Kinfauns Drive across from the community centre. You don't happen to have any more videos of those blocks? Watching this has brought back so many memories, the good ol days
The original recording had an extra 15mins or so until my mother recorded Coronation Street over it !! If I remember correctly, it showed the shopping centre, Drumchapel hospital, Glenkirk and more. Lost in the mists of time now i'm afraid.
A housing scheme that failed and let the people of Drumchapel down badly!! with a knock on effect of crime , poverty, caused by poor infrastructure, poor architecture design, poor quality of materials, dampness ,poor services ,all this caused problems with ill health in the people causing stress anxiety and poor hygiene , graffiti everywhere, in the area authorities turned a blind eye on the problems that they were fully aware off, slums ,low employment, some teachers wrote you off and were unfit to teach, family breakdowns,, drugs, alcohol, pubs were making a fortune due to nothing for people to do no crafts , pictures , friendship and support groups ,gangs, knife 🗡️ crime was the only thing,,houses getting broken in to find out more from Billy connolly's guide ,low life expectancy over bearsden a shot distance away , it's not all doom and gloom I was one of the grateful ones who got out and I thank God
Lovely cover music. Tugged at my heart strings and I am not from Drumchapel but went there a lot in its later years before and during its transformation. What do you think of it now Stephen?
AMAZING ( THE DRUM THAT WE WILL NEVER SEE AGAIN BUT ONLY IN OUR MEMORIES)
