It’s kind of interesting how the 90s/00s had quite a few series about being in the Internet/Cyberspace and nowadays the closest equivalent we have to that kind of premise is either Digimon or “trapped/reborn in a video game” isekai light novels.

I don't think it ever really went away. There's _Assassin's Creed_ , Sword Art, _.hack_ , _Ready Player One_ , and the new _Jumanji_ stuff. Not to mention all the Isekai subgenre stuff you were mentioning.

This show wanted to do so many things, but was met with budget cuts everywhere. Give it some more budget and time in the oven and I feel it'd be fondly remembered. I also just find it endearing how people in the 90's were far more enthusiastic about the idea of VR than they are nowadays.

Obviously the cat's very definitively out of the bag now, but at the time the number of people who didn't realise the ilovelucy thing was a bit was... very funny but also a little concerning. I'm almost relieved the chat is covered for most of this vod, because so many people were losing their MINDS over it. I thought it was a very funny bit, but the resulting chaos in the chat was unfortunately kind of distracting from Cyberkidz. Speaking of which: this show whips ass (y'know, aside from all the racism). Thanks so much to the RTVS crew for sharing this masterpiece. I can't wait for part 2 :)

this show reminds me somewhat of the swedish show Vintergatan (it aired in 2001 i wanna say???) with the low-budget yet charming special effects and weird sci-fi storytelling, except that show is like, actually pretty good. I would say i reccomend chehcking it out but i dont know if theres any english subtitles anywhere
Gotta be honest, this show gives me real "Mortal Kombat for kids" vibes, with a bit of Reboot, Star Wars and Power Rangers mixed in. A multidimensional emperor that looks like Shang Tsung attempts to conqeur Earth, with a mix of magic and sci-fi. Hell, even the credits are in the Mortal Kombat font, and the music is that same style of 90s dance music used for the Mortal Kombat theme tune.
for anyone looking for a fun Robert Z'Dar movie, i highly recommend the Soultaker episode of MST3K. it's not good but it has some crazy concepts and it's very fun

Weird mishmash greco-roman/futuristic/??? setting, underground resistance fighting reigning dictator and his robot army, mix of anthropomorphic animals and unidentifiable creatures, main civilian contact is a flimsy ineffectual fop (love interest of member of rightful royal family), have to do shit like rescue ambassadors for peace conferences and destroy robot factories, etc But like, somehow even worse. But also somehow infinitely better.
