How beautiful is this... I remember myself crying in the cinema while watching them hugging each other in the ending scene... so much emotion and beauty in it!
In March 2018 soon after this had won the best picture Oscar, I went to a matinee screening. Imagine my surprise when I was the only person in the cinema. It was the first time I'd ever been the only one at a cinema screening of anything and therefore a surreal experience as the title sequence got underway with this magical and haunting music and from then onwards I loved the whole film!
If I spoke about it - if I did - what would I tell you? I wonder. Would I tell you about the time? It happened a long time ago, it seems. In the last days of a fair prince's reign. Or would I tell you about the place? A small city near the coast, but far from everything else. Or, I don't know... Would I tell you about her? The princess without voice. Or perhaps I would just warn you, about the truth of these facts. And the tale of love and loss. And the monster, who tried to destroy it all.
I thought at first that the monster was that creature, but after watching the whole movie I realised that the monster was the man who tried to kill it. A human.
Not many theatres show this movie and it is kinda sad. I know this won't attract much people, but this is such a feast to the eyes for someone who loves movies and not many of them can experience this fantastic film.
This film is truly beautiful many people thought of it very weirdly here where I live,they only had it for less than a week and I'm glad I went to see it fast. People in the back wouldn't shut up about why she would love the creature and made fun of him. It sucks that where I live people are so close minded.
Close minded? Wow. That sounds harsh. This movie as whole is not pretentious at all. I do think this is like the (almost) perfect combination between fantasy, thriller, and romance. Sadly, I do think the last 10 minutes of the movie are oddly cheesy.

I just finally watched this movie on demand as a free movie. I'm going out, NO RUNNING out to buy it. It's fantastic. A love story like this deserves a part two...but I know it won't happen. So romantically magical and beautiful.

Yo igual lo pensé así, no fui al cine verla pero la encontré por ahí en un local y dije: "bueno, lo siento maestro del toro pero la han quitado de cartelera y necesito verla." Tenía de compañía a mi novio y durante toda la película sentí algo hermoso y extraño a la vez que me hacía suspirar al voltear a verlo o darle un tierno beso en la mejilla, quiero imaginar que la película tiene ese fin de que cada quien interprete lo que piensa y darle cierto sentido a la historia por medio de la creatividad o ciertos sentimientos personales, quizá por eso la criatura no tiene una forma definida o una historia en concreto para que el espectador pueda experimentar todos los sentimientos que pueda y disfrutarla al máximo.

I love Mr Desplat's soundtracks they sound so gentle, mysterious, they always seem to captivate me, they just express the feeling of romanticism and fantasy perfectly, what makes it perfect for this tale. I knew it was him when I watched the movie because the ost reminded me of The Grand Budapest Hotel. There is also a sort of nostalgia emanating from his work and ahhh i dearly love it !

Yo igual lo pensé así, no fui al cine verla pero la encontré por ahí en un local y dije: "bueno, lo siento maestro del toro pero la han quitado de cartelera y necesito verla." Tenía de compañía a mi novio y durante toda la película sentí algo hermoso y extraño a la vez que me hacía suspirar al voltear a verlo o darle un tierno beso en la mejilla, quiero imaginar que la película tiene ese fin de que cada quien interprete lo que piensa y darle cierto sentido a la historia por medio de la creatividad o ciertos sentimientos personales, quizá por eso la criatura no tiene una forma definida o una historia en concreto para que el espectador pueda experimentar todos los sentimientos que pueda y disfrutarla al máximo.

Desember 2018, kita memutuskan untuk berpisah setelah berkomitmen selama 5 tahun. Kecewa, sedih, marah, sakit sampe gila udah aku lalui. Berhari-hari aku bawa luka batin kemanapun aku pergi.
Hingga Januari 2019, aku ditugaskan pergi ke Batam. Aku teringat suatu malam aku keluar dari kamar hotel, berjalan kaki menuju alun alun kota Batam. Langit begitu indah dipenuhi bintang, orang orang berkeliaran bebas di sekitar, sementara aku berjalan sendiri sambil mendengarkan lagu ini. Aku merasa tak nyaman: layaknya diterjang badai kesedihan, disambar petir kekecewaan, dan ditampar ombak kepedihan. Lantas aku menangis sejadi-jadinya. Di tengah tengah alun alun, sendirian, menatap langit seolah memohon petunjuk dari Yang Di Atas sekaligus menahan air mata ini untuk berhenti jatuh. Aku tetap menangis diiringi lagu ini, sampe detik terakhir. Kemudian semuanya sunyi, hening dan terasa damai. Air mataku berhenti pula. Aku terdiam, lama.
Aku tekan tombol reply, dan kudengarkan sekali lagi instrumen ini. Kali ini hatiku terasa sejuk, damai dan sekeliling terlihat begitu surgawi. Aku tersenyum dan sadar, lalu berkata pada diri sendiri. Ah cuma ditinggal perempuan aja kok, hancurnya kayak kiamat. Kalimat itu aku ulang ulang, untuk membangkitkan semangat diri ini.
Fast forward ke hari ini, 6 Januari 2020. Aku sudah sembuh, udah bener bener membuka lembaran baru. Bulan depan akan segera menghalalkan perempuan pilihanku. Aku datang ke video ini hanya untuk sekedar mengenang rasa campur aduk saat duduk di keramaian alun alun kota Batam setahun lalu, mengingat betapa dahsyatnya lagu ini hingga bisa mengangkat luka batinku dan menyembuhkannya dengan cepat. Bravo, Mr. Desplat! Bravo!

I love Mr Desplat's soundtracks they sound so gentle, mysterious, they always seem to captivate me, they just express the feeling of romanticism and fantasy perfectly, what makes it perfect for this tale. I knew it was him when I watched the movie because the ost reminded me of The Grand Budapest Hotel.
There is also a sort of nostalgia emanating from his work and ahhh i dearly love it !
Alexandre won the golden globe, he won the critic choice award for this film. Guaranteed to him to win the Oscar.
