They argued, bickered and disagreed but they had a lot of fun. I LOVE this series. Probably the best television cooking series EVER! They're not fake or scripted. Julia says what's on her mind at all times

I like how she found the English cheddar strange, its like she didn't know they invented Cheddar and the others are not really Cheddar at all.

I've always liked how Julia called Jacques "Jack". She was such a treasure.

      Regarding the English cheddar cheese.
      Jacques: Do you like it?
      Julia: No. (Instantly)
And I can't be sure she means it, or whether she just is playing media games, at which she was very skilled.

I love how they throw low key shade at each other while cooking. But all in good fun. They’re a fun duo. Love this series.

Jacques Pépin est hélas peu connu en France. Et pourtant sa carrière aux USA est exceptionnelle, et sa cuisine est parfaite. Chapeau, Monsieur.

It's hilarious to watch two masters at work, having minor disagreements about things. Who's right when they're both so great?! Lol

I had the opportunity to take lessons from Jacque Pepin. It's amazing that he had the respect for her when she questioned his technique. He had a fiery temper when he was questioned. He had so much respect for her. Julia was great when she was asked questions. Does anyone know her favorite food? I do!

They both sound under the weather in this one. Maybe that's why they're a little cattier. Fun episode.

The cheese might have been Red Leicester, named after the city of Leicester.

Jacques: "There's no way you could go as fast as a machine."
    Julia: (trying not to laugh)
    [...]
Jacques: "I never put a collar on my souffles."
Julia: "Well, yours don't rise high enough."
Jacques: "This is an English cheddar. Do you like it?"
    Julia: "No."
Julia: "This is typical of chefs. They never clean up --"
Jacques: "No, I always clean up; I'm going to serve that next to the ..."
My favorite parts are always when they playfully disagree :)

Soufflé sounds interesting. My mother studied French cooking back in the early 1950’s in college in upstate New York , close to Canada. Again, interesting how the food that you both cook is equally fresh and lovely as I imagine that the recipes are quite complex. Bravo et Brava to both !

Jacques knows much - but he is wrong. Back in the 1800's, after Careme's days when they thickened things via reduction and liaisons with yolks and cream, they toasted the flour. Not long but they did toast it. An ancient tip - try toasting flour before adding to pastry cream and do cook flour for a solid 60sec before the addition of liquid
