    Interesting to see a bit of the mechanics of the pipes in action. The "Voom Voom Voom" I would call "Phasing" 😎

    Excellent tips for me as an absolute beginner. Had no idea you could mute the drones the way you do. I've been using small patches of masking tape. Thanks a lot!

    Chris, if you haven’t already, could you make a video on tuning your chanter? I’m a highland piper, soon to be a beginner Uilleann pipers and I’m assuming it’s different

    This really excites me to receive my Fred Morison full set. I’m a Highland piper of almost 8 years and have had a set of bellows blown smallpipes for a bit over a year. I’m really looking forward to playing the Uilleann pipes. Yours sound absolutely amazing by the way.

    Whish I had this when I first started 😁 I know it's a way more difficult topic, but any plan on a chanter tuning tutorial?

    Nice job explaining the tuning Chris. Unfortunately I do not have a stop key so I use the A note to tune. Also on a side note, I will be contacting you early October to get a lesson on regulators. They should be arriving this month.

    Chris, the easy way to remember is “shorter sharper, longer lower”. So if you need to sharpen the drone, the air column needs to be shorter.

    Thanks Chris. This was very clear. Is there a possibility you'll be doing reg tuning in the future?

    What kind of reeds do you have in the drones? Cane?
    Definitely lots of value in the video!

    Cheers Bro,
    I just got my set of drones attached to my practice set on Saturday. I'm 62 and just started playing.
    Any tips or advice I can get from you ???

    Chris, your videos are awesome and thank you for your lessons. I can’t seem to find the explanation, but can you tell me what the difference is between 1/2 Uillean and 3/4 pipes? Seems like there are so many variants it’s hard to figure out.

    • @ChrisMcMullan
      @ChrisMcMullan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi James, A practice set is bag, bellows and chanter. Half set is the drones added on. Three quarter set is two regulators plus the drones and a full set is three regulators and drones.

    Chris, who made the sets of pipes you play? Do you play multiple sets from different players?

    • @ChrisMcMullan
      @ChrisMcMullan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, I have two sets. A Cillian O Briain set and an Andreas Rogge set. One in D and one in B

  • @5w1ss5

    Pardon my ignorance, all three drones are tuned to G? Is this for a set in the key of D set?

    • @clintsutherland8102
      @clintsutherland8102 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m obviously not Chris, but I’m a Uilleann piper. He’s playing a concert-pitch set in D. So, the drones are tuned to D.

    • @clintsutherland8102
      @clintsutherland8102 ปีที่แล้ว

      A better explanation from me would have been: his drones are tuned to D as he is playing a D set. He is using the harmonics of the G on his chanter to tune his drones. So, assuming that his chanter is in tune and his G is in fact a G, the harmonics of that G will help his tune his drones to a spot-on D.
