You guys just saved my bacon, you are awesome! My Takagi TK4 had a code 99 (991) to other tankless folks. I totally disassembled my unit, cleaned and checked EVERYTHING. Nothing amiss and would not relight. Found you guys explaining your 991 code hard reset and tried it on my TK4 Takagi, but I used the two LEFT buttons on my unit. It lit right up and I now have hot water again after cold showers for a week. Thank you.
I was so relieved to find your video. We had a 991 code and I identified the problem. While we were gone on vacation wasps had been busy. They built an extensive nest in the exhaust on the side of our home. We got it cleaned out but couldn’t figure out how to get rid of the code. All the videos said to shut it off or cut the power, yours was the first to explain about pressing the two buttons. Fixed it the first time! My husband is a contractor with a plumbing license and I’m a Medical Technologist who troubleshoots analyzers for the Laboratory frequently. We installed this several years ago and it was our second one so we knew it wasn’t the installation. I wish I could include a picture of the wasp nest. It completely covered the entire exhaust pipe.
Thank you very much. Holding down buttons 3 and 4 cleared my 101 error as well. I called AOSmith Support -- my unit was under warranty -- and the person that they told me to call wanted $350 an hour with a 2 hour minimum to come out -- since the warranty is parts only. This is nuts. Buttons 3 and 4 cleared the error.
I have the t-k4-110 outdoor. Resetting the panels almost the same steps but you use the left 2 buttons instead of the right. Hold them down till the red led just to the right of all 4 buttons goes out, turn the device off and wait a minute or two, then Turn it back on. Cleared the error
