    Great video..
I just wanted to add something as an egyptian myself.
Upper and lower Egypt are not separated by the Nile.. In fact, they're united by it.
The river Nile runs through all egyptian land longitudinally, connecting all areas of civilization.

I heard a story when I was young. In the story, when the whole river of beer thing happened, Sekhmet got so drunk that she forgot who she was and became Bastet. As Bastet, she wondered to parts of the kingdoms she had never been to before. When she sobered up, she became herself again and returned home. This continued whenever she would drink beer or wine from that day on, leading to the Egyptians worshiping both Sekhmet and Bastet as different Gods in different places where she had went as only one of her personalities and Sekhmet and Bastet being worshiped as the same god in places where she had either gotten drunk or sobered up and the locals saw her in both of her personalities.

Parle de Spirit kind of like Kali from Hindu mythology. When I was young and didn’t know a lot she kind of scared me, but as I realized later on she wasn’t just a bloodthirsty killer, she is more than that. She helps me be strong and fight my inner demons. I’ve always liked dualities in gods, also like Persephone goddess of spring and queen of the underworld!

    THANK YOU SEKHMET
Xmas day 25 December 2018 I made offerings & prayed to Sekhmet for my retired mom’s arthritis to be healed because she was in such agonising pain almost continuously despite panadol.
I had never previously prayed to this Goddess.
Today 8 February 2019 my mom told me she’d been virtually Pain Free since Xmas and hadn’t taken any panadol or painkillers.
She showed me her hands and one is nearly back to normal with barely any swelling.
Prior to this she tried green lipped muscles, collegen, glucosamine and other things to no avail. They made no difference at all. Waste of money.
    PRAISES BE TO SEKHMET

2 days ago a stray kitten came to me and basically adopted itself to our family. And since I can't come up with a name my brothers have been calling her Sekhmet. I told them I wanted to name her something strong, but didn't want to name her Bastet and didn't want them to name her after an anime character. She also has a very strong, playful, stubborn, but smart personality. But everyone has trouble with her name so everyone still call her Kitty. I need to give her a nickname so it could be easier to call her like I did with a dog I named Anubis. Everyone called him Nunu, except if he did something he wasn't supposed to. I would use his whole name and he would listen. It might be Sek, but I'm not sure yet.

I like the dynamic of Sekmet and Bastet as the two types of protection. One protecting the whole outer of Egypt from foreigner invades and their warrior Goddess (Sekmet) and the other protecting the inner part of Egypt to keep the homes and the families inside safe from disease, and ensuring the children of Egypt were safe.

It's interesting how similar the Sekmet myth is to the Durga myth. Durga was also summoned by the male Gods because demons (the egoic self serving nature of mankind) had taken over the world and was destroying it. Durga couldn't kill them with her sword so she transformed into Kali who slurped them up and digested/ integrated the darkness thus transforming it into light. it is said that Kali without Shiva (consciousness) is out of control. Perhaps Sekmet also represents the integration of our human active and creative shakti force with the peace of unconditional consciousness. This is an evolutionary journey taking place within each one of us that eventually uncovers our enlightened nature.

Never understood the logistics as to why, but after acquiring a beautiful hand-painted card depicting Sekhmet, I began worshiping her, not knowing fully her story, but regarding her as the Goddess of Recalcitrance, and feeling eminent trust between us. Our relationship was born of love and it gave me strength, in rather telling times, so that I was able to retain providing light, while my life was concertedly threatened. Again, thank you, and to this great deity. DV :)

One of my favourite unmentioned attributes of Sekhmet is sun related.
She personifies the negitive effects of the burning sun. One would praise a god for the positive effects. She expresses something very present in the life of a desert dweller. The miserable and unhealthy effects of the sun. Plead for her mercy? Curse her in suffering?
Mythology is such great fun. Both learning and creating.

Let us all remember that during their prime the Egyptians held the standard for what a large empire looked like and operated. As a result of their expanded territory cults of the same or different deities exchanged roles and traits many times over as the culture progressed or regressed. Very few things about these entertaining figures of lore are set in stone. I mean that metaphorically of course. Plus, sources in the modern age have and will interpret some things differently. For example: I read that Bastet’s or Sekhmet’s son Maahes’ name meant “Wielder of the Knife”, setting him up as a war god for sure. Especially, perhaps depending on the historical period, since the first half of his name in hieroglyphs “maa” is a blade type shape. Love this stuff. It’s so much fun!

I know of some myths where her duel side is Hathor and when she drank the blood and beer mix she became Hathor. One goddess that gives life the other takes.

Hi, i would like to add a perspective. For those of us who are full of dichotomies (me, i'm a gemini), this explains why you have an affinity for Our Lady Sekhmet. She is full of dichotomies = dual qualities that make sense at the same time. dual characteristics that ... at the surface, seem to be opposed ... but, in a dichotomous Goddess can indeed exist within and harmonize within.

I only knew who Sekhmet was from SkullGirls where a fighter named Eliza would turn into this cat like skeleton, also Eliza herself shows a lot of symbolism to the Egyptian Gods and Goddess

Egyptian mythology is my favorite ^^ if sekhmet drank blood, would that technically mean vampirism started in egypt?

No. Vampires drink blood to survive. She drank blood, because of her animal instinct and battle rage.

Hellhound382 In The Lost Book of King Og, also called the War of 100,000 Giants, or the War of the Circumcised & Uncircumcised Giants, you learn that in pre-Diluvian times dark magic was said to have been practiced that involved drinking of blood along with human sacrifice. Thoth also mentions in his Emerald Tablets that Atlantis was similarly plagued by dark, blood magic that ultimately led to its downfall, bringing forth devious inter-dimensional demons. Both stories pre-date the formation of Egypt, along traditional timelines as well as more controversial ones.

She's a lioness goddess and lions drink blood. I've always associated vampires as feline wereanimals since they both drink blood. Also, in the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice vampires originated in Egypt.

But the river was also turn to .. beer !
Honestly, you start with a multigrain oatmeal/ bread flavor with beets and age for a few months. Later mixed the beer with a vinegar blood soup.
