My 42129 just arrived. Thanks for explaining the issue & your solution. I am new to Lego and know nothing about moc. Your videos taught me a great deal bout it! Can’t wait to see how it compares & competes with my Liebherr & Volvo! Keep up the great work!
Oh great have fun with it! It’s a nice build and thank you again! Just please don’t do any tug of wars with it haha! I’ve just snapped the teeth on the rear diff cog even after the fixes but I put it through a lot of stress!
Hey Jared I totally agree! I almost feel it shouldn’t be in production until it’s fixed! It’s ok for me with so many spare parts but people will have this as a one off set. It certainly has some torque though! And thank you as always😀
The big bulldozer: Why inviting me without talking about me a single word Gazr: For you the test isn't required for the results. The big bulldozer: I see.
The 42129 did better than I expected, I thought the 6x6 42099 mod would win easily... heck, I didn't even expect it to win against the 9398 becuz of the crazy torque difference
it has so much torque and there’s a lot of weight over the front wheels so it grips on all 4 tyres really well. It’s not quite as strong as the 6x6 when pulling when the weight is pulled down like on the pull test but it’s so strong for a Lego model!
I don't think so! gotta add up to more than 11kg first. That's just to equal it. Then tractive force, so grip and power. Anything less than say 10kg will need way more grip just to shift it when parked ... those cross beams are like ground anchors. Even my model RC cars would be nervous! 👍🍺🇬🇧
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines The problem is you built an ultimate, and that's hard to beat. I love the optimism of the OP though, and sorry if I sounded critical in my reply - just I know how good the dozer is (was) and thwt even as a dead weight it wouldn't be shifted easy! 👍😀
Hey Carl that’s cool! it really is those beams on the tracks! Even on the carpet they dig in! When I went on holiday I left it in bedroom and you can still see the indentations on the carpet 3 weeks after lol I’m intrigued to see how much the next vehicle can pull given it will use tyres and not so short gearing! There could be a few motors though😮😀
Wow, many people didn't think the Zetros was great considering its supposed to be a trial truck, but this proves its true capabilities! Although I think it has to be said: I don't think it even has a chance against the Bulldozer. We've all seen what that monster is capable of!
Haha I used it as a background prop here 😂 It’s a nice build and the drivetrain is super torquey! I just wish it was built to the scale of the bigger tyres as it’s not a cheap set!😮
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines yeah, I agree on that one. I believe the first leaked image of the set showed it on the same tires as 42099 in a 6x6 configuration. I personally think that would have been better, but as proven, the final model is pretty good at what it does!
Yeah that would have been a beast! It’s a nice build and the locking diffs are cool! As I only ever usually buy second hand lego this did seem really expensive to me but when you compare it to the new price of the 42099 originally it’s not too bad
Hey Nick it has crazy torque the problem is lego haven’t made the drivetrain strong enough and they’ll be a lot of broken diff gears lol. It shouldn’t even be in production in my opinion!
Hey there thank you 😀 It certainly has a lot of torque! Well it was my first new Lego set I’ve built out of the box so it was nice having the parts all in numbered bags!! I did enjoy most of it but I made a silly mistake which was to bypass the clutches and later realising they were for the locking diff and not the drivetrain lol. So squeezing them back in was a challenge but other than that it’s a nice set(a little expensive though!)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines lol. looks like you had a-lot of fun trying to get that maximum torque. and it is way to expensive, maybe 240 euro would be better than 300. lego has made the PU motors way to expensive and over priced. thanks for getting back to me
hay, where do you get your lego sets do you get them new or used and for how much? its just i would love to get the Liebherr set but its so expensive for me. so if you get your sets cheaper some where i would like to know. but if you would like to keep it to your self that's ok to i guess. thanks
Hey there! I buy all my sets second hand off EBay other than this latest truck(only for the channel and future videos) I bought my last Liebherr set for £175 but you have to be patient and wait for the odd one to pop up! There was one last week for £160 but it was snapped up before I had chance to press buy lol. I know they’re not cheap but in the Liebherrs case the 7 motors and hubs are worth more than the cost I’m paying for the whole set! You’re effectively buying money if you wanted to sell parts back! I did a quick estimate and Liebherr sets in parts are worth over 500 if you were to sell items back individually. You can also get the 42099 for £90 The 4 tyres,4 reduction hubs,3 motors and hub are worth £120 and then you have all the other bits😀
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines thank you for getting back to me. when you buy the sets off EBAY is everything in good condition. are the motors in good condition and do they work well? or are you taking a chance buying them second hand off ebay that they wont be damaged or broken. and thanks again for getting back to me. it is really help full.
Hey no problem at all! So far everything has been perfect! I think I’ve bought 13 sets now as well, not one issue! Luckily most people who buy these seem to be enthusiasts, maybe just check the wording of adverts to be sure though! I’ve found the powered up hubs motors are so durable there’s little worry there! I’d worry if you were buying off me though as I’ve given them torture!! Lol 😀
A great competition! Doesn't this 42099 one come with the new motors and "control+" thing? I saw it struggling with e.g. offroading, Have you by chance compared the new XL motor to old one?
Hey there thank you! I’ve not had chance to compare the older ones and yes this users the control+ motors hubs! Weirdly the new L motors are slightly stronger than the new XL(it’s weird) When you do both gear swaps the 42099 is pretty great off roading! I’ve had it crawling over the worst soil possible and it does really well! The problem is it’s a bit rear weight heavy so can tip backwards when climbing 😀
Doh! Hey there I swapped the batteries after it beat the Volvo as I did a few runs to film that one! These models do last a really long time though with the batteries I use (2300mah) Also you’ve given me a fun idea! I may do a poll or question… to see how long these can drive on a treadmill! 😀
Yeah also the weight distribution is great as the front and rears have a lot of weight on them. It’s not as strong as the 6x6 when it pulls the bricks as the weight pulls down on its wheels giving the 6x6 chance to use all its power but for a Lego model it’s very strong! Too strong!
Indeed Chris! If they don’t modify the app and lower the torque this set will destroy many differentials! I like the build but there’s a big weakness in the drivetrain!
One thing to say is that the vehicles with seperated drivetrain like 9398 or 42099 do not work well as the rear wheels are suffering and the front wheels slip. If you connect the drivetrain like the trail truck then the motors will spend their power on all wheels and not slip front wheels.
Yeah personally I think it should have been built to the scale of the bigger wheels as it’s quite an expensive set! There’s so much torque with this model I think the bigger tyres would naturally make it almost twice as fast whilst still having plenty of torque! 😀
Hey there! Yeah it has insane torque for a Lego model but that drivetrain will break so many differentials! They could probably programme the app to reduce torque when it’s under heavy load to not break the diff!
A few parts would help! The problem here though is the design, when I built the rear unit I knew full well it wouldn’t handle the power as I built a similar cog set up in that weird 4x4 crawler with swerve steer and you have to strengthen a lot. The surprising thing is lego built a model with so much torque by pairing those L motors up like I do in my models! Usually they have one motor on the front wheels and one on the back which effectively half’s torque when only 2 wheels need it at times.
Another error from my previous question: the original drivetrain is 12.6:1. in my example rotating 1 time says 1, 2, 3... and the output turns 1. In this original drivetrain is 24t -> center diff is 1:1 to 12t -> New differentials is 2.333:1 to the planetary hubs from my previous comments is 5.4:1 reduction, total gear reduction is 12.6:1 reduction. If I add 2 c+ l motors and will get more then 15 ungeared pf xls (the torque is 111.006 N.cm [recorded by Philo] ) . Thanks for your error and stay home.
I’ve seen that but at the end it slips lol. I’ve done 3 fixes for this, I’ve put it in the description! The one I’ve seen(racing bricks) does not cure it! You have to do that aswell as keeping the differential gear from moving about otherwise when it does slip it will shatter your diff gears teeth(I know because mine did! Which is why I did the other fixes) It can’t slip now though😀
wow, I love the dozer but this to me was more exciting to view. Maybe the dozer has got so good that nothing can beat it. What mods did you do to the new truck? - seems pretty powerful and grippy 👍🍺 ps I worked out that if I add a spring loaded swing arm with spikes to back of the Humvee, it won't be pulled backwards by anyone. Dunno if this is in the spirit of the competition! I think I'd prefer to compete against your wheeled creations. What would you put up against a 6.5kg RC car?! 😎
Haha that sounds fair… The poor Dozers in bits now and you’ll see what I have planned for your RC car in a week hopefully! I’m intrigued to see how much torture the drivetrain will handle! The new truck shouldn’t be in production if I’m honest! It has too much torque for the drivetrain design and will shred diff gears! I did one common known fix but that doesn’t cure it, in-fact it just makes it more likely to destroy the diff unless you do the next fix. I had to add some beams to keep the differential stable and then make my own 3.2 axles as they pop out the diff as well. They’ve done a 90 degree 12 tooth to diff gear join which has to be super strong but due to the locking diff setup it can’t be enclosed in the usual 7x5 rectangle beam piece. With those little tyres and 12:1 ratio with two L motors it has serious torque
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines you need to do the diff closer to the motors, and then gear down the outputs like a mega portal.... 😎. Am intrigued by the idea of a wheeled monster. I ran out of strength in the axles, needs smaller diameter tyres bit more of them. Kind of makes tracks the Ultimate choice realty.

That's insane probably the worst lego technic set ever for the normal people dominates in a test against your stuff that's modified as hell but what do you think abaut the zetros is it worth buying
It’s hard to say as I’ve only ever bought second hand off eBay so to me buying this new seems extremely overpriced for what it is! I guess if you compare against other new models you could justify it but I bought a 42100 Liebherr for £175 the other day whilst this cost me £265! Which is hard to justify! Lol It’s a very strong model torque wise! Ridiculous for a Lego model but the standard drivetrain cannot handle it which is poor from Lego. The 6x6 is still stronger in pure strength but this had a little bit more weight 😀
Actually I thought it was because of the center of gravity that the zetros won it is so low with these micro tires that it can get the power down much better so would be nice to switch some tires so that it is at least in that regard fair
Yeah definitely that as well! Also the front has a lot of weight over those tyres as well! Usually the front loses traction on the others! Especially the 42099s which are rear heavy! It will be interesting on lower grip surfaces! I think those tyres will help as more weight on a smaller area? 😀
Exactly that would make it also fairisch but it still would be interesting how these things would perform on same tires so would be nice to at least run some of them that way just as a proof of concept

Hey nice going! This new Mercedes truck is pretty good uphill for a standard model with the weight being at the front and fairly low! 60 is steep!

@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines woah, Woah WOAH
That's insane probably the worst lego technic set ever for the normal people dominates in a test against your stuff that's modified as hell but what do you think abaut the zetros is it worth buying
It’s hard to say as I’ve only ever bought second hand off eBay so to me buying this new seems extremely overpriced for what it is! I guess if you compare against other new models you could justify it but I bought a 42100 Liebherr for £175 the other day whilst this cost me £265! Which is hard to justify! Lol
It’s a very strong model torque wise!
Woah
hey teddy! 😀
Later vs the boss
very good
we are all dumb people loving lego?
Definitely not we just know how to have fun 😀
Mercedes is stronger then 6x6 it’s that yo ur not good at it
