I think some may think this but I also think this is not the case for obvious reasons. The "problem" with that for them is, as trained self defenders or just regular armed citizens we have the right to see a threat and respond accordingly because we can't read the future or know what they will do so we will assume you will kill us and it's bye bye to you even if that's not your intent. Additionally they believe only they are tough or you will be unarmed.
Most purple heart recipients recall being completely confused and delirious after being hit badly. The squadmates who rescued them recall them saying really weird things. Its probably severe shock, which is typically why you hit the ground like a sack of rocks.

Security guard is a father of 3 kids, one newly born. He did his job, and came home to his family. Hoping his emotional burden from the shooting is minimal.
Security personnel never get enough respect from the public think they are mall cops but they do amazing things everyday thank a security guard yes thank them you never know when they may save your life :)

Missing to the left is not an issue of sights/red dot but about how you pull the trigger. If you slam it (which is understandable in a stressful situation like this) right handed shooters will miss low to the left and left hand shooters will miss low to the right.

I was glad to hear what you said about right handed shooters missing to the left. The last time I took my pistol to the range I was fairly consistently missing to the left. It had been a long time since I'd taken the pistol out. This showed me I need to do it more often.
A little test you can perform is to stretch out both of your arms at full length infront of you, make a small circle with your hands and look through the circle at a object about 15ft or more away from you. Then you close one eye and see if the object is still inside the circle, then close the other eye and check the same. One eye closed will make the object disappear from the circle, the other eye won't. The eye where the object is still in view is your dominant eye. If you draw your pistol with your dominant hand but the opposite eye is the dominant eye then it can throw your shots off slightly, even if you are aiming with both eyes open looking down the sights. It's a good test and arwareness of your dominant eye will inprove your accurancy.

Missing to the left is not an issue of sights/red dot but about how you pull the trigger. If you slam it (which is understandable in a stressful situation like this) right handed shooters will miss low to the left and left hand shooters will miss low to the right.

This actually happened in Philly and there are a few gas stations in bad neighborhoods that have armed security with long guns. I really don’t understand why someone would draw on someone armed with multiple firearms and then be surprised when they use them. Great analysis John.

I was glad to hear what you said about right handed shooters missing to the left. The last time I took my pistol to the range I was fairly consistently missing to the left. It had been a long time since I'd taken the pistol out. This showed me I need to do it more often.
Is your trigger finger in the correct position?
A little test you can perform is to stretch out both of your arms at full length infront of you, make a small circle with your hands and look through the circle at a object about 15ft or more away from you. Then you close one eye and see if the object is still inside the circle, then close the other eye and check the same. One eye closed will make the object disappear from the circle, the other eye won't. The eye where the object is still in view is your dominant eye. If you draw your pistol with your dominant hand but the opposite eye is the dominant eye then it can throw your shots off slightly, even if you are aiming with both eyes open looking down the sights. It's a good test and arwareness of your dominant eye will inprove your accurancy.
@stevegrifftx back when I was shooting it more, I was "good enough for me", meaning keeping the vast majority in the 10 ring. But it's been a long time since I've shot it much. Nowadays most of my shooting is 22.

I think the guard thought the pistol was quicker to bring into play than the shotgun. The shotgun looked to be on a sling and the guard figured it would take too long to bring it into play
