Lioness Leads Tiny Cubs to Pride: Virtual Safari # 202

- En route to the Ntsevu Pride and their cubs, I unexpectedly encountered a lone lioness striding purposefully away from the group. Swiftly discerning the weight of her milk pouch and the prominence of her teats, I couldn't shake the inkling that she was on a mission to retrieve her cubs and guide them back to the pride.
In a matter of minutes, she emitted a gentle contact call, and from the nearby vegetation sprang forth three adorable cubs. The mother warmly greeted them, then pivoted, leading the trio back the way she had come, their tiny paws following in perfect sync.
Anticipating that the lioness would likely reunite her cubs with the rest of the pride, I took a calculated detour, positioning myself ahead to patiently await their arrival instead of navigating the challenging thickets alongside them.
As expected, the entourage emerged from the bushes, proceeding directly toward the awaiting pride. What ensued was a delightful spectacle of the entire pride lounging in the dappled shade, interspersed with playful bouts, before we respectfully continued on our way, leaving the lions to relish their familial bonds undisturbed.
Magical thanks so much
0:49 precious cargo coming through! Move it move it😂😊
LGR - That was quite a interesting but short video clip. It was also up several hours early as well. The big cats are always fascinating to see in a clip. Do you possibly have any news or updates on any of the other lions and leopards even if they weren't in the clip at all?
Although they haven't been seen in a video like that for quite a while now, but do you know how the 4 big adult Kambula males, their sister/cousin and the Tsalala lioness are all faring and doing there by any chance if possible? I'd love a update on them please.
Those 3 tiny cubs were all looking very well and healthy. With the protection of the rest of the pride and lots of older young playmates to mess about with plus 2 powerful and mighty fathers, I think they'll have a good fighting chance of survival altogether. Don't they? If all continues to go well for them, then I expect you'll soon be able to see how many boy cubs and girl cubs there are.
I don't know what you think, but as the Tsalala lioness is only distantly related to the big Kambula pride, and as she is probably feeling quite lonely, do you think there could be a rather strong possibility of her joining up with the 1 young and cubless female that's still with her brothers and cousins at all? That'll be interesting to see how they both react to each other there eventually.
If you've got any news or updates on the other lions and leopards for me, then do let me know a.s.a.p please.
Hope to hear from you shortly.

The cubs are so cute, and OMG, the way that lioness turned around and then jumped up to "hug" the other one was so darn adorable.

Hi,
Great video and love the bird sounds.
I want to put out a challenge to you, that is to film the bird that was making the sound when the lioness was walking the cubs to the rest of the pride (at about 2:00 into video). It would be great to see when this bird is calling. I think it is a little dove but never saw it calling and I am always wondering what it is. Will be good to know.
I think you have bird spotting competition this year, if I am correct.
Frans
Hi Frans, There were a few birds calling at that moment. There was a Cape Turtle Dove, there was also a Emerald-spotted Wood Dove. But challenge accepted, I will try get some footage of them at some point.
Nothing like it, wonderful!
Glad you enjoy it!
Looks great Sergeant!
U rock harder than Animal Planet👍
These lionesses look to be in great shape! ❤
so cute
Esperamos que os leonzinhos tenham segurança com sua mãe leoa 🆗️🇧🇷❤️🦁🦁🦁
People don't know, do they? that this pride has straddled the Londolozi-Mala Mala border for some years now. Here, there are 5 adults, 13 cubs. Okay, fine, rangers/guides can only report what they actually see in their own reserves. These guys usually have some, but not complete knowledge of the prides and dominant males. Reserves do communicate things about the animals with each other, but ... The viewer out here has to put things together from different sources.
The Kambulas have had about 30 cubs with the Ndzengas since 2022. People don't remember, right? And this happened between both Londolozi AND Mala Mala. There should be maybe 9-10 adult Kambulas left alive, one of those is with her brothers in the northeast quadrant. Time to check Mala Mala game reports again, though they don't always count right.
What is your favorite coalition of all time and who is the most strongest coalition of all time in the sabi sand
That is a difficult one to answer, I would say the strongest coalition was probably the Majingilane Males because they held on to the territory for so long.
Sean, Any sign of the Tsalala lioness and possible cubs? Thank you
Hi Linda. Yes, she has been seen on the odd occasion in the north. I will try find her in the next little while and put a story out on her.
Thanks, Sean!
Where is the Tsalalala female?
She has been around but spending a lot of time in the river.
