- A new portal introduced in the country a month ago and piloted in Telangana is proving to be extremely useful and efficient in tracing lost or stolen mobile phones. Out of 5.6 lakh phones blocked in the country, 2.6 lakh have been traced.

@@trimbakvengurlekar5445 When it was stolen I filed a report at my near by police station. They told me to deactivate the sim card of the stolen phone and get a new one with the same number and fill up the CEIR form. The Form gives you an ID through message and I showed that ID to the tracking department. Using that ID and IMEI number (Provided on box or bill) they traced my phone and found the person who stole it. Also the phone can only be traced if it's not switched off or someone changes the sim card and uses it.

@@garimasahu3534 The sim owner(whom name is registered in sim company) should go to their nearest sim provider store and ask for the sim replacement and they will charge very nominal fee of like 50 rupee and they will give you the same number with your previous ongoing recharge
Note: sometime they ask you for FIR and sometime they dont ask (generally they dont)
Saying on my own experience just lost my phone on 19/08/2024

Still phone can be tracked if switched on by triangulation or GPS method. But inserting a sim would show the exact position.
