You have to give it to Andy. One of the most gracious loser ever. He's also the funniest loser ever. And he won a slam title. He's also one of the best tennis analyst out there. That makes him a big winner in my mind. Big time!

That press conference is just hilarious. That 2007 AO SF is my favourite. I'm sorry for Roddick, but Roger Federer played on an insane level that night. And hey, Andy's wife watched that presser when she learned that Andy was interested in her and thought he had a great sense of humour and agreed to meet him, so hey, something good came out of it!
That "I love to hate him, but he's just really nice", I remember he said that when he was being interviewed back then when I was little and I found that funny when he said it, that quote really stayed with me for all those years and I remembered Andy Roddick through that. Personally, aside from Federer being my fav, I also like Andy Roddick as well. He's a funny guy.
He lost one of the slam finals to Roger and he cried in the locker room. I think it was Wimbledon. When Roger came in later, he asked his team not to celebrate when Andy was there. That was what stuck with Andy for so many years.
I love Federer playing style, talent, shotmaking but I have always been a big fan of Andy Roddick also.. great competitor, exciting player, very charismatic, funny, honest and genuine, never made sorry excuses after losing. Roddick had the fastest serve and could still hardly ever beat the top players he knows he has to accept they deserved to beat him when he lost.
Roddick just didn't have that *complete* game that was able to push him over against the Top 4 when they arrived, but Andy was DAMN good. I was so proud of him when he won the US Open in '03. I remember he was getting an absolute tennis lesson from Andy Murray at Queen's, I mean battered and he just shouted across to Murray, "hey, keep it social". For an American, he's a very likeable guy.
Andy was a great player, but he struggled with Federer’s short, low chip shot, especially when Federer was returning his serve. Novak and Rafa were able to neutralize that shot from Federer, but Andy always seemed exposed when Federer hit the chip shot.
even tho he lost to federer many times, don't forget he lost in the finals. He is a winner. Has an amazing wife, amazing life, good player and human that's all you need.
