I listened to her songs almost everyday while I was in Afghanistan. Laid outside on a bench on clear Afghan nights watching the million stars and counting satellites race in different directions across the beautiful clear desert sky.Her songs and amazing voice kept me going. Never really knew who she was until then, 2009. She is an angel.

This is absolutely gorgeous, as you are, and your voice is from heaven above.
I absolutely love this track. The whole album is terrific and my favourite so far, of all Kate's albums (I've bought every one). It was a big part of me buying new speakers so I could listen to it properly! 😀 I love the new sound and use of 'new' instruments , but for me, somehow Kate and the band still capture the beauty of folk music - the stories and words. Thank you Kate.

Funny the way she explained where "hunter moon" came from reminds me of a movie titled "lady Hawk" two lovers that has a spell put upon them. He was a wolf by night and she was human. By day she was a Hawk and he was a human. Never to be Human together.
I'm something of a musicologist and music theorist. How did not know about this incredible voice before now at age 50? Thank's to Sinead O'Connor for recording "I Am Stretched On Your Grave," which brought me to the version by lady Kate Rusby.
I don't know if you will see this, Kate, but if you do, I just want you to know that I love this song so much. You have a brilliant imagination, and a beautiful voice. Keep it up!

Just heard this on Radio 2, while watching the just-waning hunter's moon rise, saffron and half muffled in gold-black rags of cloud, over the misty waters of an Orkney loch. Great timing, Jo Whiley!
Can never avoid tearing up when Kate sings. Her lyrics are so poignant for every subject she writes about.

When she speaks her voice sounds quite mature, if I may say so. But when she sings, it sounds so young, somewhat like a twenty-year-old. But both is beautiful to me :-)
Some years ago I wrote of her 'little girl's voice' in some songs.

I have simply loved this song since Kate performed it in Leamington in May, as a taster for the new album. It really struck a chord with me then & I waited with bated breath all summer for release day, when I bought the album at Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry. Every time I see the moon this song comes into my head. Simply magic.

I quite fancy Kate's bras section too, they add body and fullness and rounds out her delightfully earthy vocals although the electronic reverb or something seemed a tad suffocating on this set.
