Hey Aaron, great tutorial! Thank you!
I just figured out the autocomplete functionality won't work for me without checking "apply default value on update" at the very bottom for both fields. Do you have any idea why this is not necessary for you? And i wanted to use the caption from the 2nd linked field that uses the same key column.. but the value from the key column is displayed.. trying to find a work around and would be grateful for any kind of help ;)

Thanks! What if I wanted to add new data to the same point without deleting past data or creating new points?

Hi Aaron, I'm here again. So I have a layer named Splitter Box and within it Tag ID: CV-SB-R1-00001, it changes to -00002 if a new feature is mapped. How can autogenerate this pls?
I've tried loading the Tag ID from csv where I listed these tags up to CV-SB-R1-00499, but this will be clumsy in "Value Map" function and also when the number gets beyond -00499, my Tag ID ends. Again pls help on how to go about autogenerating this

Hi Aaron, thanks for this great tutorial. I still find that QField is fussy, or maybe it's me.
I converted an XL sheet with Latin and common names to csv, loaded it as a layer in my QFIELD project.
I followed your instructions for linking the common and Latin names so that they update automatically. It worked beautifully in QGIS. I then pushed it to the cloud and downloaded it to my iOS app. The data from the CSV file was all there, but the automatic update did not work. I started fiddling. I think I then decided I needed it to save the CSV to my geopackage, but this made things worse. Now I can't even get the csv to load into my iOS device. I get a variety of error messages including this one: The layer is not configured with neither cable, nor cloud action yet. Default action will be selected only for this time. Please select and save appropriate layer action in "Layer Properties -> QField".
I then have gone into the QFIELD settings as instructed, but don't know which layer action to choose. I tried it with edit offline for both the cable (not sure what this is) and for the cloud. QFIELD will allow me to push to the cloud, but when I download to my device I get message that says:
Some layers have not been packaged correctly on QFieldCloud. These layers might be misconfigured or their data source is not accessible from the QFieldCloud server....Layer "TEST" has an error with code "invalid_dataprovider": File "/Documents/QGIS (Wylie)/Oak Bay Parks Master/Mary Tod/2024 Mary Tod FieldData/TEST.csv" missing. Check the latest "process_projectfile" job logs for more info and reupload the project files with the required changes.
And the csv table isn't there.

Can you check if you are using PostGIS? If so, you also need to check if your account is set up for community which doesn't support PostGIS now.

THANKS!!!, great tutorial, I have a question:, How can I autocomplete the rest of the fields?

Hi Andrés. Thanks for the kind words! That's a loaded question. It largely depends on what fields you want to autocomplete and their relationship to the source data. You can add in as many source data tables and relationships to fields as you'd like. I would just need to know more about the context of what you want to autocomplete and from what data sources.

Hi. Your tutorials are great, you explain everything very clearly and in an accessible way. Great work! I did everything just like you and everything works perfectly. I have one question about autocomplete and labeling. How to do it, so that when labeling objects "common_name" the common name is displayed and not the scientific name? When I turn on common name labeling, the scientific name is displayed, probably because the default value is entered as "scientific_name" in the attributes form. Is it possible to get the common name to display correctly as a label in this case, using the value relationships you presented?
