I'd like make a correction for people who did play the game but didn't really enjoy the combat system. I got this comment a few times so I thought I'd address this. In Royal Edition you now have the option to play as each of the characters in Noctis' party. So if you don't like Noctis' play style, switching to another character may be more to your liking. Prompto Uses guns, so the game switches to an over the shoulder style shooting system. Gladio uses a pure melee fighting style, where you can deflect attacks, and combos can be input with button presses rather than just holding down the attack button like how Noctis plays. Ignis has the most varied and difficult playstyle, using three different ranges of attacks, up close attacks, long range attacks, and AOE attacks. I can't believe I forgot to mention this in my video, I hope this clarification was helpful. BTW Thanks for all the support on this video guys, I really appreciate it!

I know, but people were wondering why I didn't bring it up. I thought I'd mention it here because it is a new feature that wasn't available at launch, and may be of interest to someone who found Noctis' play style lacking.
Nice video by the way. The Royal Edition still has some bugs in it that need to be patched. I put up a video about Omega glitching into a pillar and Noctis being stuck in mid-air. But anyways, do you plan on doing a video about Hajime Tabata and Luminous Studio? Would love to hear your thoughts on that.

QUEENDOM, because you want to play the game now, not one year later. I do agree that the game after one year should get cheaper but including all dlc's in a new version of the game without "rewarding" day one purchase is kinda dumb.
I will even say more, if I could get a refund for my dlc content if I bought the new royal edition I would not be complaining.

Final fantasy always has a big part of my life my mom introduced me to ff7 in 1997 during the block buster days eventually buying ff7 ,8,9,10 was the last one she bought me, she passed in 2010 I'm always happy playing ff titles but here and there I get a bit sad I like your channel very much thank you.

My condolences. My brother (Rip) first showed me ff7 and I've been hooked since. Even though he didn't like the games he always asked what new summons I had and spells. The last one I showed him was ff12 before he passed, but now I instantly buy any ff games best franchise imo

I remember seeing the cinematic trailer of this game back when I was in high school and it's called versus XIII..damn I feel old.

This game disappointed people? This being my first FF game I thought it was incredible to play through. I'm still playing it despite there being not much to do besides find recipes
I agree, I'm a first timer and this game is nothing like I've played before. I enjoy Final Fantasy Online though I don't really consider that a standalone game. I do know the disappointment of having played older games and the newer games not living up to expectations (*cough* Halo 5 *cough*) but honestly, this game is awesome!
Prior to my purchasing it--from watching gameplays--I felt like it was such a letdown. When I finally did buy it, I did like the graphics and interactions between characters (nothing new to the FF franchise) but the story lacked a LOT. There was absolutely no closure whatsoever and you're basic objective is to go to Altessia to get him freaking married--which is kind of disappointing...to have an objective to basically get a man hitched for a game. (at least that is what you think for the first 2 chapters--I say this because I grinded to lvl up to lvl30 on ch.1 for a week). Honestly, the original storyline was much more better. It was still a Romeo and Juliette kind of story but at least Juliette (Stella) would have kicked ass in that version alongside Noct...eventually within the game. Once you get to the ending...You. Are. Confused. As. Shit. It took my getting the dossier to understand who the hell all these new characters (Niff's) popping up were! I finished the game at lvl 79 and eventually got bored with it. I don't even want to bother going back to do the rest of the quests. Kind of like FF7 Remake now that I think about it...it also had to do with the fact that it's only part of the fucking story! $60 for half of a game...I. Was. Fucking. Pissed.
FF10 below can only be considered complete. Above is just a good graphics but incomplete narative and character development
Its because previous Final fantasies are very thorough, very strategical, with a catching story and very long.
This final fantasy they tried to make it more action oriented and failed miserably, theres absolutely no action on holding a single button to auto attack, and spamming infite potions.
No strategy here, just hold the autoattack till enemy goes bluagh.
No story either, very empty, very rushed, Vendors had more dialogue than the bride that appears in the first screen and its supposed to take a big role in the game.
Lots of people, including me, had to play the game with permanent stutters that drop your FPS to 2fps during battles, and common crashes
And at the end, i finished the game in a single night.

The party member interactions were some of the best I have seen in gaming..I honestly, felt like I was really on a road trip, and at times when I am on a road trip even with family I am still reminded of this game...that said, The story needed a sense of urgency..and the moments that were supposed to be dramatic really only work if you have seen required media related to XV..Things felt disjointed..people can bash 13 but at least that had a more focused narrative..same with ff7 remake
I absolutely love when someone actually takes the time to talk about the deeper aspects of a game. With so many nuances to explore it is such a bummer when they are skipped over in favor of covering the surface aspects of a game. THANK YOU!

But a part of me feels somewhere something is a little lacking. Still like it though. Got the Royal Ed.
The empty boring world with side quests that are just go here fetch this. You run around as the teenage mutant ninja turtles on an endless road trip. Floaty teleporting combat with no skill or strategy its not really engaging at all. A story that jumps around and makes no sense Im in chapter 8 and it doesn't make any sense so i quit paying attention. DLC that tries to patch the game when the game should have been complete with it to begin with. For a video game and especially a final fantasy it has a lot of problems.

I havent played a lot of final fantasy games since the classics.I did have to watch the movie, the anime, and read online to get the full story ( especially Promto's ) All of this extra work ma have made it a better experience as it did fill in the blanks in the story.

@J-Dog The Beast enjoy your "unique" taste game. Don't forget to first watch the fucking movie and anime to get the whole story. When you reach the end enjoy watching that whiny prince kiss a girl he never talks to during the entire game in person. He kisses her in the afterlife and after that shitty ending spend some more money to buy a fucking book to get a little more of the incomplete story. Also enjoy that one button pressing combat.

I did find the game not enjoyable. Like the plot was way too rushed some extra feature were more interesting than the plot to the point I passed like several days fishing and camping rather than following the plot. But, in the end although I didn't like it, I still think it is worth trying. Especially since it is really cheap so I think it is fair.

@Vural Coskunoglu some people play for the graphic...you cant just deny how detailed and good FF15 graphic...you can just go to town and wandering around and pay attention to detailed..they really put up alot with the detailed...story wise yeah maybe they are lacking a bit unlike ff7 and 8...but what u can expect from today game..most dev usually release unfinished game...just imagine if they release full finish game will all episode but not separate character...like you control different character on the same story line but on different timeline...this would be great...but yeah how can they do that, if they do that i bet FF15 still not release yet...i really love the open world of ff15 but their open world is restricted on act..that what make dislike one part of the game..just imagine if you can roam around all you like before the final last fight..
Vural Coskunoglu I could hardly bear to play FF7, and I tried as hard as I could. It gave me a headache. I get that they game is really good and all but just because you like one game more than another doesn’t make it a horrible game

I like this game. I have been a huge rpg lover since playing Phantasy Star back in 88. I love the Final Fantasy series but some can be a bit hit or miss. I liked FF13's story but i'm not a big fan of level capping and it felt like you had to read a manual for every random encounter not just boss fights. FF 15 for me was a great relaxing FF. And i was always hungry when selecting the food to eat. They should come out with a FF15 cookbook. Great job on the vid
somebody actually did make a cookbook based on this game, but I don't have any more info than that. How were the first 5? I've played 6 (my fave), 7, 8, 10, 12, and 13. I agree with you about 13, I actually enjoy it more than 15. yeah it's flawed and a lot of the time doesn't really feel like an FF game, but at least they told each character's story from beginning to end.
@@KeithJawahir Late reply, but if you like old-school games, final fantasy 1 is actually really Charming, and since it's kind of simple, it's not hard to pick up and play. 2 is probably the one who aged worse, and the only one I think it's rough to play. There's a remake of 3 for DS and mobile that is pretty cool and definitely worth it. 4 and 5 are spectacular no matter what version you play, and since 6 is your favorite, I have no doubt you'll love those two too.

I myself haven't played Final Fantasy yet, and I'm looking where to start. Just for reference, I only have a 3DS, WiiU, Switch, and Android Tablet.
This game was one of the most flawed, felt rushed, game I ever played and yet I loved it because of the open world aspect and the bond of the four friends which made the game feel so much more wholesome. It was loaded with flaws and yet I absolutely loved it and it's just such a shame of how much more it could have been had it not been rushed and was instead polished further. It feels like it could have been a real gem in the FF universe but sadly it didn't.

I never buy games when they come out i always wait for the new shit to be added later than buy it. I got this game with the royal edition with all 26 add ons for only $25 on xbox live it pays to wait and hold off a while to buy a game.

XV Royal addition was well worth the $20 I spent on it. I got a ton of stuff and hours of gameplay for such a little price. But I had to wait like two years.
I know I’m late to this - but this is easily the best review of this version of the game I’ve seen on TH-cam by far. You mentioned some things I didn’t even know were included, and I’ve put 100 hours into Royal Edition by now!
I guarantee you all they will do a "Complete Edition" in 2019 100%. It will include every DLC including upcoming ones and all updates to finally finished.. (to how it should have been since day 1)

Considering what they announced a couple of days ago (4 new episodes in 2019), you're 100% right. Before I play this game again, I'm waiting till the compete edition is released.
@Heart of Chaos i highly doubt it. At this point, you should just get the Royal Edition then buy the Ardyn DLC :) That's what I'm going to do.
Went to GameStop today expecting a day one edition, the guy gave me a royal edition for the price of the day one edition ($10 w/ tax), feels good.

Its cool that you found enjoyment from the royal edition but for me personally I refuse to pay an additional $15 for a game I payed $60 for DAY 1 that released half assed in 2016, payed another $15 for the 1 hour DLC episodes even with its major flaws (didn't buy the season pass) in 2017, and wont even come with the new season pass for 2018. Also I don't like the idea Square Enix charging $15 for standard end game content that normally comes included with the majority of other games released today and in past 30 years.
Trust me, I know how you feel. Old FF games didn't make you pay to find out what your party members were up to when they aren't with the main protagonist, but the season pass is definitely something you want to experience if you liked the bros. They also include 1v1 fights against characters that can be fun challenges (Ignis vs Noctis is shit but the other two are well contextualised and actually well done) not to mention the fact that Conrads was included, which has a good final boss and a challenging version of that same fight (until they updated it and made the final boss Ifrit just because?). Tldr; the season pass is worth it but I'd agree with you in not buying the Royal Edition.
Actually, I would say that *most* games today don't have any noteworthy end-game content. But FF games typically have had robust end-game content *included in the base game*, and that's why this stings.
QUEENDOM in all seriousness that's a horrible attempt at nullifying OP points, alot of people had faith in this game finally releasing and paid 60+ usd just to find out the game still wasnt finished and now had to wait over a year now to get the complete games and there's still more content not covered under season pass or royal edition in the works
KingOfBlades I mean the vid even said there was more to it than just “end game content”. They added things to the whole experience including the beginning of the game. You’re essentially getting a new game with added features which is probably what they took into account. Kind of like getting a special edition movie when you already have the standard edition. It’s obvious this edition was geared more towards people who didn’t buy the game, because it was going to benefit them the most regardless of it being priced or not. The way I see it, 15 bucks is not much to complain about, people would’ve complained if it was 5 bucks. Not everything has to be free for it to be redeemable. If youre going to critique the content they give, then judge it for its actual quality and what it does to improve the game.
I'm cool with Royal Edition adding Regalia stuff and Armiger Unlimited but I'm pissed that it added more story to the BASE GAME the side stories of the characters are their own things but adding dialogue options and expanding on the final boss is cheating players of the experience they deserve especially for those who bought the game and season pass day one like me.
This cleared up some confusion on my end, as I bought the Grand Collector's Edition which came with the steel case, signed booklet, additional clothes for character, additional paintjobs for the Regalia, and the Kingsglaive movie. I was worried the stuff added in Royal Edition was impossible for me to obtain, but knowing it's all in the DLC makes up for it. Thanks. :)

justa guy In all seriousness. Yoko Taro is a capable director. Sure he’s had a few um... Slips, but other than that, when he’s given a chance, Taro can make a Nier perfect game. (Yes puns.) A great example is Nier Automata. The FF series, is slowly losing the interest of many. Most of it because of its story and its convoluted-ness. If Yoko does direct FFXVI, it could eventually mean the salvation of the Series. Having a story that not only could be downright fantastic, but to also include philosophy into the game. Or maybe I’m just pulling stuff out of my ass.

They shouldn't have taken Nomura off the XV development. We could have gotten his next VII phenomenon. Instead, Hajime took over and was given an incomplete game and a tight deadline, being forced by the higher ups falling to the fans DEMANDING its release. Which is why we got what we got.
Luna was originally suppose to have a story line that deals with her being abused. However, due to fans outraged, it was cut.
Final Fantasy XV (versus XIII) was first revealed at E3 2006. Since then, the game has gone through tons of changes such as name, director and console generation.
The all-male playable cast of Final Fantasy XV was influenced by Tetsuya Nomura's desire for the game to have a "road movie vibe" as well as personal experiences from when Nomura was young.
This is the first Final Fantasy game to be composed by Yoko Shimomura.
Robbie Daymond (Prompto) and Ray Chase (Noctis) Are both good friends in real life and are constantly vlogging together
In some trailer of versus 13, u can see that young Lunafreya got abused by Caligo.
Obv, people doesnt like that, so Square cant do it by the public, so they obscure Lunafreya character in many way, and also by short time for the game, like tenebrae cut in development.
A theory that I have, is that Ravus kill Caligo in Ignis episode for revenge Lunafreya abuses, in a possibility that is canon.
Lunafreya was suppose to be my white mage, I'll never forgive Square for what they did to her! 😡

When this version was announced for the PS+ Collection I knew I had to comeback to this video
I didn't hate FFXV, its heart was in the right place it just had some gameplay flaws, underdeveloped characters, and plot holes that kept it from reaching its full potential. Might be worth another playthrough with this version.

I'm so glad I waited for the PC version of the game to be released before I played it. It's in my top 5 FF games at least, possibly top 3.
Only downside I can think of is the story toward the end seemed to fall apart, as though it was rushed.
The characters are good, made even better by the Episode DLC (Ignis' gave me a huge amount of respect for him, even making him my favourite character)
The battle system is great; If i can't get turn based combat, I'll take what FF15 gave us with no argurments.
I got 64 hours of gameplay out of it (I want to play more but I've finished the story so I want to start other games), which is great value for the £27 I paid for it
It's £20 right now. Should I get it? I've never actually played a FF game (sorry) but I was looking at open world games with badass fighting system and mechanics with a story. This peaked my Interest... So as a first timer is this worth it?
Ma Baws I’m really late, but I think you should absolutely buy it if you haven’t already! It’s still $20 in most stores, and this game is absolutely breathtaking. This was my first Final fantasy game and it does not disappoint. I’m close to finishing it, but so far the story is amazing. I found myself getting attached to the characters and wanting to play more and more of the game that it made me glued to the screen for many hours at a time. This led me buying other FF games like the X/X-2 remaster, but XV is still my favorite. Give it a try! It’s absolutely worth it.

As you said the story is truly breathtaking and I really did get attached to the characters. The ending is beautiful in its own way so if you haven't finished yet I truly recommend you do. Then play again lol

That feeling when you bought the collector's edition and you still have to buy the royal edition + episode ardyn in order to get the full story..
Same with KH3. You buy the deluxe edition, but you don't get Remind.
After only recently discovering your channel, I just finished watching and liking all your videos. And I gotta say between the great detail and content focused on some of my favorite games of all time, oh and the fact you got one of those voices like markiplier that is just soothing and powerful at the same time, all has made you probably one of my favorite content creators at the moment, really looking forward to seeing what more you do with this channel!
That final campfire scene was great. I can't help but feel that it gets ruined by having another long ass dungeon to crawl with breaks in between.
In the original release, the last campfire scene was after the credits, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes it is definitely worth it! I got the royal edition on offer and it has 100+ hours of content. A great game, i love it.

I'm glad I came back to this video, no matter how anyones feeling on the game this "review" or whatever would best describe it is genuine and honest. It isn't filled with overblown hyper cynicism to appease those who where upset over 15 nor is it dismissive of its problems. sadly many many like to use games and other media to try and boost their internet clout with disingenuous "hot takes" that are made to take advantage of peoples emotions and further their vanity as pseudo intellectual armchair critics. Sphere is a shining example of a good content creator in the community
When you said that the Royal Edition would cost about $50 US, I actually smiled because thanks to GameStop and their ever declining prices, I was able to get Royal Edition for $2 as it was preowned for $7 and I had $5 off through membership rewards. I mean, I know it’s an old game, but it’s not THAT old to cost $7 pre-owned.
I’ve been buying up a lot of “old” games the same way. I got Jedi Fallen Order for 39 cents at my local game shop.

Just got into the Windows Edition myself a few weeks ago and WOW.... it completely blew me away. Yes the game has its flaws that make it a love it or hate it experience- some story pacing, some places where it felt like the game needed more stuff to it, THE CANCELLED DLC- but what was good about it impressed me all the more: the cast, the soundtrack, the visual presentation, the combat, DAT ENDING and so on.
It was just great time that'd I'd definitely recommend to anyone, and I feel like your review of Royal really highlights what's awesome about this title. Great work here ;)

I really liked this Final Fantasy and actually is my favorite Final Fantasy (because of the combat system and somehow the story), but I do felt it was kinda unfinished (and you can noticed that with all the content that is coming out), and I understand that because of the development problems it had and even with all of that it ended up being pretty decent, but no more. I don't know if this is good or bad, I like it, but my opinion is not a fact.

I'm considering picking it up again, I enjoyed the base game when I got it. The combat was a bit weird to figure out to a degree since it kinda attacks for you also... but I do want to try all the new stuff even after all this time. Also holy shit wasn't expecting the voice of noctis at the end!

I have bought the game two times now. The basic game on PS4, and later the windows edition. With everything included, windows edition was just cheaper(25eur) than buying all the DLC on the PS4. And I was pleasantly surprised about the changes they made, compared to the base game. There are still a lot of wonky story elements, but better than before. Combat Camera is still drunk most of the time, which makes curtain battles more frustrating than it needs to be. Anyways, I am happy to have stumbled upon your channel. You have a good, clear voice, nice recording and excellent production. You have earned yourself a new subscriber today. I am looking forward to more FF or RPG related videos in the future. We all know how much you love FFXV, Cindy-I mean Sue-I mean Suzi.
People must have backed out before the end. Man Chases voice is so damn smooth its my favorite part of FFXV... actually I like all of the VO talent of the main characters. Gladius and Nok are definitely the best though.

Up until recently i didn't even know people were disappointed with the game, i played it on day one and it was one of my favourite games of all time.
The problem is that the game wasn't complete. Some quests were obviously rushed and the royal edition is what the game was missing basically

I honestly laughed and nearly cried when one of them were beat boxing the end battle theme.
