    Great video with some very helpful tips for keeping our batteries healthy. In terms of safety, you may want to consider getting two timers instead of the one. Most of the timers I looked at on Amazon have a maximum wattage of 1875 W. Given that each charger can pull 1500 W, you can overload a single timer by drawing 3000 W with both chargers running. I would hate for your timer to be the source of a fire. Love the videos, keep 'em coming!!!

      Yes I notice that for sure...I have a adapterwith the timer that keeps on switching off due to the power...I figure that out now...thank you for the tips bud

    I'm a little confused and concerned. Doesn't the battery charger put out up to 25amps @ 58.8 volts (max)? Thats 1,470 watts. A typical circuit as a 15A breaker (~1,650 watts) -- in America. Are you in Europe with (220v @ 16amps) ~3520 watts) per circuit? I hope the power strip and timer can handle the current in either location. In America, the circuit breaker would probably trip when initiating charging on two empty batteries.

      LOL...you are way more technical that I'm...And yes...it was too much for my circuit ... I does not happens all the time but sometimes it brakes to circuit and I have to reset...so now I have them separated with their own power supply and I got another mechanical timer ,,thank you for your feed back

    Keep an eye on both your batteries and chargers when the washer and dryer are running. The vibration could cause them to take a tumble onto the floor.....or maybe not.

      Hell yah bud...I take them off once Im using the dryer and washer...Luckly I only do laundry once a week lol

    Hola, Rolando! Really excellent battery maintenance tips!!! Was wondering, though: Unless you live solo, are there any quarrels over who would be able to use the washer/dryer at any given time? Do you now have to wear your T-shirts 4 times between washes instead of 3? Ha! Ha! Just wondering. Nonetheless, an excellent video, esp. emphasizing the fire safety measures & reducing wear/tear on the delicate terminal pins by minimizing connect/disconnect procedures. The timer & power strip arrangement is simple, inexpensive, yet brilliant! As an alternative to the washer/dryer arrangement, fireproof cinder blocks stacked securely to a desired height away from flammable materials (drapes, painted walls) also works wonderfully. I noticed you have 2 batteries. Should Fliteboarders think of investing in ar least 1 additional battery as a general practice, as you’ve done? I suppose this would depend on how much riding a flyer does on a regular basis. In your case, it makes great sense to have more than one, & in different sizes to allow many hours of riding style flexibility. Do you store your batteries at any point in a fireproof storage box or fireproof bag? (I reviewed a video recently of the Fliteboard CEO & Team briefly showing this precaution.) Gracias, Rolando, for helping us be more thoroughly educated & therefore more skillful, safer Fliteboarders! You are a scholar & a handsome gentleman to whom many of us aspire! Last note: Continue to be more careful of those super tankers in Boston Harbor! :-). Robby

      Holla Robby...thank you for the reply...yes there are better precautions I could take with it for sure...there are "batterie" boxes out in the market ...but for that size they are anything from $800 to $1200...witch I think is a crazy price in my opinion....Yes the concrete bricks are great idea too...but honestly my basement is packed so the only space I had was the dryer and washer...now after a while the terminal I used was getting overheated ... so I recommend to use a diff outlet for each battery ...that is what I do now. I wish the batteries were cheaper but is great to have 2 of them...and my ride style is to go fast and long distance...now if I was a surfer I maybe would got the sports one or even the "nano" that they make now...but I dont surf as much.

      Thank you for the reply; always great to hear from my interesting TH-camrs! Forgot to ask: I noticed how you effortlessly slow your Fliteboard & skillfully step off of it right onto the dock without letting the board crash into the dock. Very, very cool move, Amigo! I will look for your Series 3 evaluation. If you are able, I would love to know your opinion comparing its performance w/ both the propeller vs. the jet, maybe perhaps also comparing different flights using the Cruiser vs. the Flow vs. the Race wings. (Again, be extra careful of the super tanker!) On an unrelated note, I admire your profile photo, very reminiscent of my mentors, John Grimek & Frank Zane. I try my hand time to time w/ pencil illustrations of models, so I tend to notice these things. And, yes, those battery box prices are absolutely INSANE! The least expensive brand I could find within a practical distance from me is over $700!!! Might as well invest in a NASA space capsule! Be well, keep safe & flying! :-) Robby

      @@robbysebala5389 Frank Zane was my dad....LOL...Joking...Im a big fan of him...he was never a big guy but implacable symmetry, conditioning and posing...thats how I looked was when I competed ...after 20 years competing on natural bodybuilding I retired and start with the fliteoiard...iFliteboard it was a God send to me for sure to keep me busy...The jumping off the board was with the big board...much more stable so you can do tricks like that...I have also the pro and the ultra boards....for sure once I get my hands on the 3 ill try to do the best to show its performance with the jet and the prop and it differences ...Im planing all now in my head and I appreciate the suggestion.

    Wouldn't the slow charger be better most of the time if batterie isn't needed quickly ?

      Yes… but the chargers only charge at one speed or rate… so again…in case you will not be riding again in the same day or just a few days later… the best thing to do is. 1 wait to the battery to cool off with the magnet on do the cells can even out.
      2 charge up to only 25 to 30% and leave the key in to even the cells … once is charged wait until the day you will ride again.
      3 on the day you will ride top off the charge to 100%, once is charged leave the key in until you go riding.
      Finally once you done riding make sure you will never run the battery to 0%… try to stop at 20 to 15% left.
      This way your battery will last much longer.
      I have my first 2.0 battery for 3 years now and apparently I only lost 10%.

    Is there a way to discharge the battery to 50% without riding the board if it’s too cold to ride when you want to put the battery in storage for the season?

      As far as I know the only way you can discharge it is by riding it. I’m in Boston ma and is getting cold here too. I got to do the same. I’ve gone out on a 15 degree day out just for fun… I’ll deff not do that again but is around 50s now… im sure you can do a shot ride bud.

    Oi Rolando, tudo bem? I have a question about these best practices. I know some of these advice is for the older version of the battery. Do you recommend leaving the magnet and battery on on the new titanium 2.2 flitecell ? or you don't think this is necessary with the new BMS. Also, don't you think that using the slow charger might benefit the life of the battery? doesn't fast charging stress and heat up the cells out a bit more? You mention in another comment that both slow and fast chargers have the same rate of charging, how is that possible if the fast one does it at 1/3 the time compared to the slow, it has to be charging at a faster rate, no?
    I know that on the slow chargers you can set a maximum target charge of 50%, 90% or 100%, I really like that feature so I am considering getting a slow charger for when I am not in a rush to recharge. What's your take on it? Do you think the benefits of slow charging and maximum target charge is worth the extra cost of the slow charger?

      @@RafaelGarcia-uz1we Back then there was not the slow charger available for us… that is why I said “they all charge in the same rate”… referring to the fast charger… also all these “protocols” are generally good for all “lithium” batteries. From the 2.0 to the 3.0 to current. I’m deff not an expert of “lithium battery” charging… but that protocol was the general suggestion I got from most “Fliteboard dealers”, technicians inside of Flite, friends from MIT who gave me advices in how to charge… so is a collection of opinions. Now if Flite is suggesting the slow charge being better for the longevity of the battery I would not ignore that at all. They are deff the ones who better know about the cycle life if the battery. Sorry if I was not able to answer your question perfectly but I hope this helps. I also suggest you to can Flite HQ in Cali… they would be more helpful. Cheers

    One more question, I have seen other articles diving not to charge lithium batteries to 100%. Do you think there may be additional benefits to not fully charge the battery before riding, for example just top it off to 90% before your session? OR is this feature already built-in the battery, for example the battery displays 100% but in reality the cells are only charged to 80% internally?
    I would not mind going out at 90% as I mostly always end up around 35% in my explorer battery. I don't mind limiting the range a little on those days I don't really need it. If I know it's a day where I need more range in the session then I could do 100%. Please let me know your thoughts in this topic.

      @@RafaelGarcia-uz1we I’m not sure about the 90% charge up with lithium… I guess if that was a problem Tesla would automatically now allow their cars fully charge up. And they go to much more charge cycles then we do. Do I could not give a good answer about they… now for sure the discharging no less than 20 or 15 and not charging up right after a run is kind the best things you can do. Sorry for not being able to help as much as

    Great videos. I probably have 1-2 more rides before I call it quits for the season. Air/water temps way to cold even with wet suit. Do you leave your batteries 30-50% for winter storage? Do you store battery indoors or is a garage ok? Do you keep the key plugged in so the battery is balancing the entire off season? Just curious what you do so i can help avoid off season battery issues? Thank you!

      Here is MA too...Ill try to ride as long as I can...but to answer your question.
      1- I charge it up to about 30/40%.
      2- After they are up to 40% I leave the key on for 24 hours (enough time to stabilize)
      3- Unplug the key for the winter (2 to 3 months) and I keep it in my garage where is not too cold or bellow freezing

    Hello, always enjoy your videos. I have a question for you not related to this video but wasn’t sure how else to contact you. My Fliteboard is coming up on its initial 6 month maintenance service. The authorized dealer I purchased from in Michigan wants $505 for the service. Seems kinda high compared to what I’ve seen online in other states and countries. Do you have any input on this? Thanks

      Like you I think is a bit pricy...I paid $350 for my service...so I advice you to find a diff dealer. closer by..I wish this was a regulated base price for every dealer...Not sure what to tell you bud...I wish you good luck

    Not fine that Fliteboard doesn't advise how to take the best care of the batteries. This should be fully documented in a procedure by Fliteboard

      They do give minor details on the manual but I went beyond to what they recommend...I looked at it as a big investment so is the same effort and care as if you had an electric car in my view lol ...I hope it was helpful.

      Well is not bad...but is not the ideal to prolong the longevity of the battery, if you are doing a double session you will not have time to go thought this protocol ...
      However lets say if yours "Sunday" final session and you will not use it again... You should wait till the battery is colder...then charge it only about 45 mins or 30 to 50%...take out off the outlet and leave the magnet key on it so the cells can stabilize....you can leave it like that fir a while...8 to 24 hours...then you can unplug the magnet...(your baterry now is safe and stable until you decide to ride it again (especially on the winter time...your battery is ready to be stored at that level"...than whenever you are going to ride again you can top off the battery and go for your ride.
      Again so you can understand...the battery are designed to be used as often as you would like...you can recharge it right the way...however that will make your battery life time shorter. that protocol is just so you can prolong the life of your battery...but don't be scared of damaging it. But is normal for any lithium battery loose its potency from 3 to 7% every year...and the more "recharge cycles" you do the worse is...so that protocol helps to prolong its life.     So I’ve just finished a session with 2 batteries… I stopped at 15% so I just come home and put the magnets on? Then Charge again when I’m ready to go?

      You can charge them right after to go back for another run...it will not destroy or damage your battery...however it is not the best way to "prolong" the longevity of your battery...you don't have to be afraid of doing a double session right after another...they are design for any type of used...However if you want to proliong the life your battery ... the protocol that I mention is the best. The battery needs a rest beteern charges.
      For instance...I have 2 batteries as well. when I do a double session I try to give time between charges..
      my first session is about 11 am.
      Im done about 1...charge the batteries for only 45 mins and let it rest. so by 2 is resting with the magnets on at around 45 to 50% charge.
      At 4 I charge it to top it off for about 45 mis.
      Hit the water at 5 and I'm done for the day. that is how I do my double session.
      now you could do right after without "resting" the battery...is all up to you..ut the way I do it is better for the battery.
      Now if you are not going to use the battery for a double session and intend on storing the battery for more then 1, 2 3 days...then you should deff leave the battery charged at only 30 t0 50% for sure...them top it off before you go riding...specyally if you are taking your "winter brake"...I hope this helps...if not try to call me so I can give you more details

      @@Coach_Rolando When I bought my board six months ago second hand the battery was replaced under warranty and he also threw in the defective battery which stopped at 20% (that’s why it was replaced under warranty) I never used it till yesterday plugged it in and it went straight away been sitting all that time still fully charged👍

      @@kippywylie ...yes....once you top it off...leve the key in as you drive to the beach....always "stablise" the cells after you charge...you can leave it on it up to 24 hours....so is is 1 hour up to 24 hours you can leave the key on it.       The newer batteries (2024) don’t need to be balanced according to Flite. They have a more advanced BMS. Also, if you buy their slow charger, you can set it to 100%, 90%, or 50% charge level. This is a great feature for optimal battery storage. I’ve heard 50% is the ideal charge level for storage, and you could leave the battery on the slow charger for an extended time on the slow charger set to 50% when you are storing it in the off season. That’s what I’m going to do!
