    0:40 - (Skip Intro)
6/21/16 - HO61 eases under the State St bridge and past the Amtrak Station as it heads for the Steelton Industrial Track on the east side of town. Normally a nocturnal move following a strict schedule, the hot ingot cars carry hot molten steel from Lehigh Heavy Forge in Bethlehem, PA, for the steel mills in Steelton, but are running a little later today because of a derailment that happened earlier on the branch. Later in the video, we will see the train that delivers these cars to Harrisburg.
    0:40 - HO61 - Harrisburg, PA - Steelton, PA
    NS GP38-2 5125
Not far behind, the Enola edition of 33A departs Harrisburg Terminal with an older set of 4-axle EMD's with loads of steel piling pipes and piles from Steelton on the head-end.
    1:55 - 33A - Baltimore, MD - Enola, PA - Allentown, PA
    NS GP59 4616
    NS GP38-2 5305
6/28/16 - A trio of standard cab 6-axle EMD's, including a bright pair of CN SD60's, lead 15T through Richland at sunset.
    3:30 - 15T - Allentown, PA - Birmingham, AL
    CN SD60 5428
    CN SD60 5423
    NS SD70 2536
6/29/16 - The following morning, the Reading Local crew 94M with a pair of SD40-2's send some coal west, passing young corn stalks at a farm just outside of Newmanstown. These coal loads are another unusual move-one made about once a month or so, depending on the demand of the Pennsy supply quarry in Annville. The coal is ultimately used in their furnaces in material production.
    4:30 - 94M - Reading, PA - Annville, PA
    NS SD40-2 3335
    NS SD40-2 3346
7/02/16 - The sun has just crested the horizon on a clear summer morning at Milepost 81, blinding the crew of 212 as the hard light shines straight into the train. An old bridge abutment can be seen to the right of frame as the end of the train passes the camera.
    6:00 - 212 - Atlanta, GA - Croxton, NJ
    NS SD70 2512
    NS D9-44CW 9554
    NS D9-44CW 9937
15 minutes later, the Central Railroad of New Jersey heritage unit leads mixed freight 16N around the curve at Milepost 81.
    7:45 - 16N - Conway, PA - Allentown, PA
    NS SD70ACe 1071 (CNJ)
    NS D9-44CW 9802
    NS D9-44CW 9129
It is unusual to see 25R around mid-day, this normally nocturnal/early morning train collects intermodal cars from North Jersey and Bethlehem en route to the Rutherford Intermodal terminal just east of Harrisburg. A special treat seeing this train includes the hot ingot cars which are picked up from Bethlehem, as explained and seen on HO61 earlier in the video. One of a few remaining yellow SD90MAC's on NS roster leads, soon to be rebuilt into an SD70ACU.
    9:50 - 25R - E-Rail, NJ - Rutherford, PA
    NS SD9043MAC 7238
    NS D9-40C 8824
Later that afternoon, another solid set of 4-axles powers 33A toward Allentown, crossing over 2-1 at PRESCOTT amid a 25 MPH speed restriction.
    11:35 - 33A - Baltimore, MD - Enola, PA - Allentown, PA
    NS GP40-2 3038
    NS GP59E 4661
    NS RP-4MC 619
7/19/16 - A fairly new Tier 4 GEVO leads hot shot intermodal 20K across Railroad Street under dynamics slowing down for a train still occupying the next block.
    13:05 - 20K - Chicago, IL - Croxton, NJ
    NS ET44AC 3602
    NS SD70M-2 2760
    NS ES44DC 7519
That afternoon, a classic GP38-2 high hood just days before retirement leads a pair of mother/slug 4-axle rebuilds and a heavy limestone train from the Annville quarry, cresting the hill at Newmanstown.
    15:05 - 94M - Annville, PA - Girard Point, PA
    NS GP38-2 5064
    NS GP59E 4661
    NS RP-M4C 619
7/22/16 - An absolutely ridiculous assortment of shop engines for Enola trail on 34A behind two online Dash-9's, including NS 4000, a cabless switcher, a Dash-8 rebuilt, and the Veterans unit.
    16:35 - 34A - Allentown, PA- Enola, PA - Baltimore, MD
    NS D9-44CW 9082
    NS D9-44CW 9667
    NS AC44C6M 4000
    NS RP14BD 2120
    NS D8.5-40CW 8508
    NS SD40-2 3419
NS SD60E 6920 (Honoring Out Veterans)
7/25/16 - A dramatic sunset creates the backdrop for a short 16T passing through the farmlands.
    18:05 - 16T - Birmingham, AL - Allentown, PA
    NS D9-44CW 9529
    NS D9-44CW 9397
    Thanks for watching!!!

Man I’ve been binge watching these videos lol. Thank you for documenting the mid-2000’s era NS so well… it’s been massively helpful to me for modeling it in 2 rail. I was just a kid then, and I didn’t know the difference between a dash 8, dash 9 or GEVO lol, they were all just trains to me then.

awesome footage! I've always like Richland for train footage! Norfolk Southern dash 9's are 40 cw's not 44's, they bought the 4000hp rating for fuel consumption.

Thanks and yeah they were built as D9-40CW's but all have been reworked to 4400 horsepower. CSX did the opposite with their ES44DC's and converted them down to ES40DC's.
