Its good to see you back! as a music major you need to listen to first love by suga. Its about his first love being the piano, he even uses 2 different vocal sounds to show him talking and the piano talking. I really think you would love it. I know that he's character is Narcissis who so loved himself that he drowned looking at himself in a lake.As for V he's an old soul loves the classic Nat King Cole,Ella Fitzgerald,Louis Armstrong and even further back and let's not forget Frank Sinatra. Omagosh, I just realized what the lake - Narcissus connection might be, now that you mentioned it. Narcissus loved himself too much, but V doesn't, that's why the lake is frozen??? I was thinking what it might be cause the story didn't fit for me. Was there anything more that was said about it??

My Begin Was My First Love I’m pretty sure it was surgery. He was having breathing issues and had to have a medical surgery on his nose to fix the breathing problem.

@@viaciel he had an operation on his nose. The doctor took out a little bone out of his nose, because Namjoon snores when he sleeps. It became so bad that he felt like he suffocated. So he had to be operated on. He still snores, but he can now breath easily. I don't know why he get the machine that people use for when they snores.
V really likes listening to original soul and neo-soul music, he has like an original records collection and classical and some very other non mainstream tastes, you wouldnt expect it at first i didnt either but he loves singing old golds

This is the song that properly convinced me to dive even deeper into the group. It’s so good. Singularity is loved by critics as well. Neo-soul is such a rare genre these days. I love how BTS does all kinds of genres- even the rare ones like acid jazz.
The acid jazz song they made was named after the number assigned to Pluto when it was revoked of its title as a planet. I feel like that genre choice was super symbolic for the overall meaning of its lyrics. And sorry I can’t say the name of the song. I have a terrible memory, and since the title is just a bunch of numbers, it’s really hard to recall.
The song you were looking for is 134340 (PLUTO). Love that song, the music has such an easy feel to it, although the lyrics don't. It added to my fondness for BTS to see that they had a song about Pluto, which happened to be my favourite planet. I thought it was "unfair" that Pluto had been downgraded astronomically in 2006. By the way, no, I don't know, why i have a favourite planet. Save to say, it added even more to my fondness for BTS, that the broken-heart-lyrics were from the viewpoint of Pluto, circling the sun no mattter what, be it as a rightful planet called Pluto or without much significance as the demoted dwarf planet with the registration number 134340.

the cool thing about bts is that there is literally a song for everyone. so it’s almost impossible to hate them. they’re sooo versatile bc they have so many members who each have their own style and individuality. i fell in love with bts through jimin’s solo serendipity even tho i had heard many of their singles before. in my opinion their solo work makes it much easier to stan them bc of how much they shine on their own and bc they are not produced to be a banger but rather a vibe or a part of a story in their albums. their album tracks are absolutely beautiful and so artistic... bts are incredible at making music that makes you feel, it’s why i think they’ve been so successful at breaking the barrier bc with their music you can understand their message just by the way they sing / the instrumental.
Their songs made me an army but their versatility and how they value the importance of lyrics in their songs made me a die-hard fan. They made me appreciate more genres of music
Taehyung has a veeeeeeryyyy diverse music taste. From recent mainstream to old non mainstream songs. And then he inserts his taste in his work. He's a really unique person, and not only in music. Clothes, art, way of thinking etc. He's incredible and I'm glad he's my bias 💜 I really enjoy your reactions, looking forward to more!! Songs or funny videos, whatever 👀

Let me interrupt you right here....I'm loving your monologue here about how this song was "created to be felt, not heard." I totally get what you're saying and agree 1000%.
Since you are a musician yourself, I really think you'll love:
- LIE (Jimin's solo song) It is just musically different. The keys and how it is compiled together is mindblowing.
- FIRST LOVE (Yoongi's solo song) This is a song for his brown piano when he was a child. It is like a narration type of song wherein Yoongi portrays him as a child and adult and the piano speaking to him that it will not let go.
And stigma is pretty good as well
Another reason for him to react to those songs is that both of them are very emotional too, they wrap you in the emotion the song is conveying in a similar way as Singularity does!
I would love it if you continued to tell us how a song feels when you listen to it since you have synesthesia. I don’t have it myself, but I am an extremely visual person. Knowing what a song “looks” like would help me appreciate something even more.

Heyyyy! You're back! I'm so glad you made it to this song, by far one of my faves. It's actually one of my ring tones. His voice is ridiculously soothing and chilling at the same time. If Netflix and Chill had a voice, his would be it. It doesn't matter what the lyrics say, he could be singing the Barney theme song and it would still be like....Ok👀. Yeessss as a musician I really love this song for it's minimal instrumentation and interesting/unexpected chords, and also this is not a style that you hear in k-pop like ever. I just stumbled across your channel a few minutes ago and I'm so excited that you reacted to this one just now lol. Not to mention Taehyung's voice - I feel like this style is super fitting for his voice and he should do more of this.

Taehyung has now 7 solo songs(one ft. RM) 6 of them he has written 4 of them are self produced and self written. His most recent is for a kdrama ost Sweet Night.
Thanks for your reaction. V is the reason I first got into BTS mainly because he is a very old soul like myself and I love his taste in music. He loves a lot of older artists and ones that are unknown and unique. His voice has that quality that pulls you in and makes you feel something. I find it very soothing and relaxing. He has a couple of other solo songs, winter bear, scenery, stigma inner child and also a new called sweet night which is an ost he made for his friend for the tv kdrama he acts in called itaekwon class. This song was made by V and is entirely in English. I’m glad that you recognize each boys talent and their contributions to the band. It’s saddening that they treat them like that especially v who they call the happiness preacher. He is one to always tell others to please love all seven member equally and invented the word and concept of Borahae which means I purple you. Purple being the last color of the rainbow and it means I love and trust you for a long time. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
BTSs strength is their respect for each member’s diversity. Their backgrounds are SO different! Example, when I first heard the neo-soul heavy bass line of ‘Hold Me Tight’ I knew V was behind its creation. The man breathes soul, R&B, classical , and occasionally gospel music.
Like I said, their strengths is their diversity.💜

Oh I love that you gave Erykah Badu as an example of Neo Soul! I'm old as dirt, so I can remember when she released her first album and "On & On" was on the radio, good times. You are so true about the artistry of V and he helped RM write the lyrics and V really asked wanted to help produce the music as well. He helped with the lyrics, music and production. He also worked with the choreographer since it was his solo. I am actually floored by the people who say that V is not talented. He is a marvelous baritone voice. Thank you for reacting to this song.

THANK YOU!!!! This is the song that grabbed me and sent me deep down the BTS rabbit hole! I had never heard K-pop at all before. I am a 53 yo life long music fan particularly R&B/soul old school and neo as well as hip-hop. This will forever be my favorite BTS song it never gets old for me. V (Taehyung) will forever be my favorite (bias) member. His voice is everything! Those people that try to minimize his talent tend to do so because they want to elevate their fave and they tend to be kids, I believe.
If you love this, you will definitely love Stigma another of his solo songs.

RM wrote the lyrics and he felt like the song would suit V, so they continued on with it, for him. So it was definitely “built” around V. Like mentioned in the comments, this song really reflects the music V personally enjoys listening to. I have a weak spot for music, coming from a very special family I’d say. This one definitely hit the spot.
Also, you should listen to the album Tear. In my opinion, that's an album thats always going to be a legend. Every song has been an emotional rollercoaster. You don't have to react to it if you don't want to. But enjoy it.

9:25 RM wrote the song but you are correct that it was written and produced specifically for V. V himself is very singular/unique and He has a very unique way of thinking and a very unique personality. In the fandom, we used to call him 4D and alien and Jimin in the new album actually calls him his alien. Also V's BT21 character that he created is literally an alien. So it's interesting that you picked up on that and I appreciate the musical input you added I never heard it put like that before.

They truly are amazing at emoting. Their songs and performances always make you feel something. And I find it absolutely amazing.

I'm kinda looking forward to you reacting to the other vocal solos as well, because you are on the right track with how they all have their own "sound" or vibe, and it comes across very well in the solos. Also, if you get around to it, I recommend Stigma from Taehyung as well, especially the live version. Taehyung has a very sophisticated taste in music and it shows in his tracks.
But then I feel like the same could be said with the others as well. Like, Seokjin's songs, for example, have a completely different vibe. And then Jungkook and Jimin as well. And I guess the same applies to the rapline. They all have their uniqueness they bring into it. Anyway, I really enjoy watching your reactions, it's very insightful.

Singularity is my second favorite solo from a BTS member, and it's definitely such a mood and such a perfect song for Taehyung in all ways. I definitely agree on the emotional element you mentioned, you can certainly feel as if you are part of the emotion the song is conveying for the time it lasts. And this is also one of the reasons why Lie is my favorite solo too, it's also a very emotional song, and you can almost feel the pain and distress in Jimin's voice (and his dancing to).

I love the dancing in this. At times it feels like the choreo is hitting the exact beat, and at others it feels like it's hitting the exact space between each beat. so cool.

This was choreographed by a pretty well-know American Choreographer/dancer named Keone Madrid who did the choreo for Dope, Fire, Not Today and Blood Sweat and Tears. He has also worked with several other Kpop groups and people like Justin Bieber. V's backup dancers in the video are some of Keone's dance crew.

Honestly their music is seriously so versatile it's not even funny when we say that they are their own genre. Always ready to try something new, always sharp minds to create whatever and real musical freedom to come up with whatever looks as if will work, they will never stop surprising you.
this is a song worth also watching the live performance of (whether you react or not), not just because of taehyung's ability to turn the performance into a gorgeous act of magic but because it's an entirely new musical experience. like seriously, the live arrangement/instrumental is sooo so beautiful. i love the production in the studio version and i'm glad it's the way it is because it does perfectly capture the painful emotion being conveyed in the song, which feels very isolated and distant and empty and leaves taehyung's poignant vocals as the focus, but i wish there was also an alternate version with the live instrumental! both suit taehyung so well.

This is actually BTS strongest point, musically wise. Their versatility and the ability to cover a multitude of genres and fusion of genres, hence satisfying even the most eclectic tastes. Of course, they do have a specific sound as a group that can be recognized in the middle of billion sounds, but you can rarely find two look alike songs in their discography. This is why their albums are 'no skip' tracks type of albums. On the other hand, each of them, in their solos, shows their individuality as strong, unique flavored, complex artists. Again, a very rare occurrence in the music world, when we talk about groups. As for V, in this one, you pointed well. He literally creates an original vibe that manages to grip your soul and makes you stay in there, happy, dumbfounded like in a cocoon. His tone is one of a kind.
His handsome face is just a bonus from V. Coz he already has a gorgeous soul kind of voice. If anyone says that what he only has just a face for this group, maybe they're just jealous coz he has everything. He hits a very high note on song STIGMA.... He's not playing around with his voice...

One of the guys from UCLA that they colabed with for ON said specifically that he agreed to do it bc BTS is so good about mixing real and synthetic instruments. They don't favor one over the other, they use the one that gives the best mood. I think that's what you're hearing with this song.

this song, 134340, lie, and boy meets evil were the songs that really sucked me into bts. they really just hit different.
I love bts' versatility. They have a song for every mood. And each member does have different tastes and styles of music they prefer, which definitely contributes to their discography being insanely diverse. But even more than that, each member has so many different musical sides. For example, RM's first solo mixtape has a lot of aggressive, hard-hitting rap, a lot of "I'm out here and I'm gonna fking prove myself as an artist an a rapper", and then he throws a curveball in like Life (one of my fave songs from him) which is an really dark meditation on loneliness and, well, life. And that mixtape compared to his most recent solo project is again, a 180.
Also, it'd be really cool if at some point you checked out the song Rain (not even necessarily a reaction, just listened to it). Not a whole lot of people seem to think much about it, but it's my favorite group song and I think it is super under-appreciated. It's super musically and lyrically stream of consciousness and has this fantastic jazz piano line throughout (improv maybe? who know) and is one of those songs that instantly puts me in a very specific headspace. V has the solo song Stigma from the Wings Album, Singularity as you’ve seen from Love Yourself:Tear, and Inner Child from Map of the Soul: 7, their newest album. On the SoundCloud he has 4 o’clock, Scenery, and Winter Bear, all very good and creative songs to match his vocal tone,
Jimin has the song Serendipity from the Love Yourself Album and Promise on SoundCloud, which are very soothing to the ears. However, his Lie from the Wings Album and Filter from Map of the Soul: 7 have an interesting change of tone.
Jungkook (your favorite golden boy) has covered a numerous amount of songs (which can all be found on their SoundCloud) but his main solos are Begin from the Wings album, Euphoria from the Love Yourself Album and My Time from Map of the Soul: Seven. Each are individually touching and a way of him basically flexing his vocals.
Jin has the song Epiphany on the Love Yourself Album, Awake on the Wings Album, and Moon on Map of the Soul: 7. All songs Cary a somewhat similar vibe so to speak but in Tonight on their SoundCloud, the song focuses on his falsetto.
For the Rap Line, they all have individual mixtapes and albums produced.
Suga has the song First Love from the Wings album. This song is so emotional and contrasts his other works the most by far. Trivia: Seesaw is from Love Yourself: Answer and Interlude: Shadow is from Map of the Soul: 7. Suga also goes by the name of Agust D where has produced multiple songs such as Agust D, So Far Away (ft. Surat but there is a version with Jin and JK on SoundCloud) and Give it to Me.
RM has the song Reflection from the Wings album, Trivia: Love from Love Yourself: Answer and Intro: Persona from Map of the Soul: Persona. On SoundCloud, he has so many songs it’s hard to count but I enjoy Moon Child and Seoul the most.
J-Hope has the song MAMA on the Wings album, Trivia: Just Dance on Love Yourself: Answer, and Outro: Ego from Map of the Soul: 7. He also has a mixtape called Hope World with my favorites, Airplane and Daydream along with many other songs. He also released a song around November of 2019 called Chicken-Noodle Soup ft. Becky G where they incorporate Spanish, Korean and English in the song.
They also have various unit songs like a vocal line song or a rap line song such as Ugh, Friends, Respect, 00:00 and many others.
I’m not saying you should react to all of these because there are A LOT, but if you ever wanted a small (not so small) rundown on the individual songs, here you go.
i remember exactly what i was doing when this video came out.. we were all expecting it so i had a laptop, my phone and a tv streaming this video so many times i couldnt count ( this was in the beginning of 2018 and bts was just getting started to get reeeeal huge, so we we’d always work really hard to break youtube records and in streaming services as well ) i remember how shocked i was because it was tae’s first come back trailer ( before serendipity came out in 2017, starring jimin, i believe all the comeback trailers before starred namjoon or yoongi )
we were all so happy for him haha! and also it was the first time we’d seen backup dancers that weren’t big hit’s employees. 2018 was definitely a good year for them, and to be an army :’)
im really glad you enjoyed it and realized the factual range bangtan has production and genre wise, it’s mostly why armys say “ the genre is bts “ , for when analyzing their entire discography, you will not be able to label them. u know? and since we’re talking about range, i should add that taehyung is the member that has the greatest vocal range, he reaches incredible high notes powerfully ( can be proved by his solo song “ stigma “ ) , and performs the lowest notes with ease and smoothness as well, as you’ve seen !

Esaveo, THANK YOU for mentioning Erykah Badu and making me rediscover her after way too many years! Singularity was the first song by BTS that I properly listened to and fell in love with and it's still one of my absolute faves.
I got introduced to BTS last year by a friend of mine who is a music major and a music producer, and he has synesthesia too!! He said to me once that when he was a kid he thought that's how everyone sees/listens to music. He's a big fan of these guys!

the coatrack thing is actually an old vaudeville trick! they use a lot of illusions inspired by those classic acts especially in their stage shows.
v in particular really loves vintage styles, both musically and in terms of aesthetics, fashion, etc. this song was written for him by rm, and you can really tell it was conceived with his voice and style in mind.
for another really lovely neo soul style song from him check out stigma! that one was co-written by v and a couple other producers from their company that have worked with them for years. fair warning though, it's a heartstomper.
they're very diverse in their songs because they all have a hand in writing them, so we have the product of 7+ creative minds all inspiring and jumping off each other, it's really something extraordinary!

Tae favors simple arrangements for his solo music. His personal music tastes run more towards jazz, neo-soul, etc, and it reflects in his solo releases. His voice is my absolute favorite, and I cried when i first heard it even before reading the lyrics. His voice just has that something that digs right into your soul.
This song, video, choreography ... ALL of it, is a masterpiece.
For another emotional song, I HIGHLY recommend Yoongi's song First Love. It's about his love for his piano/music, which he wrote and produced himself. As a musician yourself, you would appreciate it. It's beautiful.

Yes they give them this much freedom :) every solo are part of every members identity. They always do what they like or what they want to try so all solo songs are very different. You can feel...them? In their songs and like..kind of like..feel their mindset at the same time and when you have this much diversity in one album... It's wonderful :)
The live performance of this is pure art. Taehyung can captivate an audience with his voice and his stage presence, his facial expressions and gestures are just on point. Even the other group members were talking about how people were screaming constantly during the perfomance . He never performed it exactly the same twice. I won't lie..when I first saw your reactions it seemed like you weren't too impressed with V, to be fair the introduction video everyone reacts to of the group is underwhelming during Taehyungs part compared to everyone else's. No shade or disrespect to the creator of that video.

You picked up on the contrast of the slow rhythm vs fast choreography as well as the “feeling” of the song. When people ask me why I like a group that I can’t understand what is being sung, I play them this song. If you can’t “feel” this song, you can’t feel period. The sexy coat hanger, as you put it, comes from the mime or Commedia dell’Arte tradition. Phantom Hand. I’ve seen it done before, but this is a very effective usage of it. And there is a lot of other mime/Commedia dell’Arte aspects in the visuals of the MV. Truly a singular😏 piece of art
