AUDI CONVENIENCE KEY DEFECTIVE DIAGNOSIS FIX

  • Today I had a 2010 Audi A5 that had a problem with the advanced key or convenience key feature not operating. The doors on these vehicles are designed to unlock automatically when you place your hand in the door handle with the key nearby. This feature was not working along w;ith the push start operation. The vehicle needed to have the key manually inserted into the ignition slot in order to start it. Audi issued a TSB technical service bulletin for this concern. In the bulletin it describes these concerns along with associated dtc 03283, 03284, or 00183. The bulletin recommends replacement of the convenience system control module. In this video I will show you how you can repair the module for less than $3 dollars.

Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics, he did a great job of repairing a $600 computer! Most shops not interested in tinkering a bit, they would rather just sell a computer swap n bill for it. Here this was almost no parts required! The ultimate in recycling too!

Got the same problem. F Audi. Had a bunch of other problems to go with it. Oil consumption. Turbo waste gate, broken door handles.ect. Theses cars have a timing chain tensioner problem. The list just gos on and on. Not a good car. 😕 think I'll just leave the defective convenience key. It's already 12 years old. Gonna run it till it dies and never buy another audi. POS. I’ll add a little additional info. The touch sensors begin to actually leak water because the rubber gasket goes bad, this is what causes the sensor short. The short causes the transistor to stay “ on” longer than a few seconds ( like in normal operation) which causes them to overheat and burn out. You can replace the transistor but the problem will occur again. Just a matter of time/rain. You as a long term fix have to replace door handle AND the transistors, then it will go back to original function. They’ll still get random short to ground error codes but it isn’t an error that trips dash light and will come and go awhile as the water dries out on handle sensor and before transistor goes bad.

I think your right. My convenience key has been defective for like 8 years!.. it went out after I was driving in the rain one day. Smh. Not sure what to do. I might just leave it. Because if I mess up that module. Then it will leave the entire car not working. Then would have to be towed to the dealership costing even more $. Not sure what to do. Sooo many problems with my audi. Piston ring problem. Replaced Turbo. Convenience key. Rear door handles. It just never ends. Could be considered a lemon. Instead I just bought a New BMW under warranty. Still drive the audi though. What a pain

Thanks for the great, simple tutorial video.
I've followed all as in the video, turns out all the Mofset were running good. No sign of corrodes either.
    1. Bought & programmed a new Key from Audi dealership.
    2. Buy & test the new Keyless entry detector sensor, also from the dealership.
    3. They (dealership) strip all the door, dashboard, centre console, boot(where the BCM is located) to check for continuity as it is shown short to ground, but no luck.
    4. Lastly, they recommended me to get new BCM, which is cost a lot. Fuck
I've a cross tons of hour searching from the Internet for the solution, but your videos is the closest problem I've got, but seems, cannot be solved.
Is they anyway to flash the BCM? Suspect might be the software issue.
