I don't find the second outfit to be Victorian modern goth at all. It looks like more burlesque/ romantic goth, there are a lot more better Victorian modern goth dress out there than what has been showen here.
That head piece is literally 1920s vamp Theda Bara. It kinda makes me mad how historically inaccurate this is. Theda wore sexy dresses and dark make up too. Everything but the pink hair. Pink hair didn't happen until the 1950s.
Looks modern Victorian to me! High low overskirt parasol . it is pieces put together from the era .......black mourning attire...... Late Vic was a mourning period for the queen. Wear we get the look!
People want to act like they are experts when if they only looked at the pieces individually they would see how it fits in the modern Victorian Goth section... And when it comes to Gothic style, many people still argue over things, so to me trying to be right about Gothic styles is just setting us all up for failure... We all have opinions on what we think. Goth has become an all over the board type of thing. So many boxes we want to put everything in..... It's kinda stupid. And when people want to act like know it alls about the fashion and especially the music, it gets annoying as all hell!
Llike It's Black Friday said, the second one looks more like a bordello Victorian figure. She is very pretty, but the clothes are not really Victorian 'social life' adapted.....there are so many frocks and dresses out there that are modernized Victorian, that the bordello look was not necessary in my opinion. Great video once again, but it could have been better, if you compared 1800's Victorian social wear to 2000's adapted social wear. Anyway: thank you for your effort!
The historical dress is *gorgeous.* The historical Victorian Gothic style will always be my favorite. It's so refined and elegant, feminine yet powerful... I just wish I had the money to actually dress that way, lol.
I love the traditional mourning dress better than the "modern" one. Perhaps it's my age, but while the other one looks good on some people, it isn't for everyone. I like Black Friday's take on it, as well as people I've seen on Gothic and Goth. I loved your other videos, but this one only had one interpretation of modern Victorian.
Being a goth lady myself who absolutely adores steampunk Victorian I have to point out that we're not trying to completely recreate the look to the finest details. What we're trying to achieve is to put together a look that is emblematic of all the things that were finest in this era.
Bit of a shame the 1860s inspired historical dress was supported by 18th century style paniers instead of a full crinoline, but otherwise, pretty fantastic job!! (I took my degree in historical costume so I tend to be really picky!!)
Thanks Lizzy. We like that kind of pickiness. Learning is good. For this look I think our stylist did an awesome job making an authentic look from the reproduction pieces we had avail to us. Glad you liked it!
Yep, it looked like they used the paniers to get the early 1860s fluffiness and then added a big bow and waist bump to imitate the crinoline of the bustle. *rolls eyes*
The modern one look beautiful, but not Victorian to me. No Victorian blouse, the skirt is to short, no fascinator, etc. For me she looks like a romantic Goth and not historical inspired. Just my opinion. :)
I love and have worn both looks at various times. Though to be honest, the historic Victorian is my personal favorite. There's always been something about getting ready that just put me into the proper frame of mind. Another awesome video.
Nice but looks unfinished .. the second is goth but not really victorian goth .. it's more like a show burlesque goth .. I'm a victorian goth and I wear both modern and older Type of style
1:37 personal, I love black lace and fringe and beautifully made black stockings with little bows at the tops attaching to her under garment to hold her stockings up. That lady could fit as a third party example tinging in the possible 1920s from a guess at stylistic wedding choices over the years.
I hope you don't mind, Liisa I used to be gothic, not so much anymore, but still have love for it. Love the style and fashion, especially when it's Victorian. Simply gorgeous. Love your style, your gorgeous 🖤🖤🖤
I want the jewelry from the first model. The clothes, not so much if they were made period-correct (the additives to make black crepe non-reflective and stiff were known to cause a lot of health problems)...
Both are beautiful but I have always been partial when it comes to history. That’s why my dresses were $600 or more when I went out. Always custom made to be exactly like the ones in Victorian times... Still have them hanging up in my closet even though I haven’t been to a goth club in years lol..
They both look cool, but I can't imagine myself looking like that. I just prefer dressing like if I was in a funeral and putting some spooky elements like skulls, spiders, bats, bones, eyes... or typical symbols. It's a lot easier for me.
Always loved a woman in goth. Always beauty in dark. I miss dressing this way but had to change because unfortunately I couldn't get a job. My appearance may have changed but who I am will never.
If the historical one was supposed to be actually from history it was so off in so many different ways.... It didn't look anything like what would have been worn. Not to mention it would have been considered gothic, it was just mourning attire, they would have worn black veils, they wore corsets, each varying between the decades. Please do full and complete research and don't lump everything from the Victorian era into one thing. I'm incredibly passionate about history and historical garb so to see this both makes me sad and upset. I don't mean to come off as rude or mean.
Thanks for your feedback, it's not rude. I welcome comments from people who have studied Victorian fashion. We made a composite from what historical dress was available to us. I personally love the look and it represents my vision for this video very well. But would also have been happy to have a full budget to have historically accurate pieces that fit together.
I like victorian ladies being goth without even knowing it
O.G.
What I hate his Goths don't understand. This is where it came from, yet they say was music that inspired it. NO! IT PAINS ME!
♚ QUEEN OF OBSCURE PAIRINGS ♚ the subculture came from the music
It is not because you wear goth style clothes that you are goth...
they weren't goth, this was just their way of life. the subculture didn't exist back then.
I don't find the second outfit to be Victorian modern goth at all. It looks like more burlesque/ romantic goth, there are a lot more better Victorian modern goth dress out there than what has been showen here.
Take a look at my page to see ;) I agree with you
Like from beetle juice I’m not saying it three times
That head piece is literally 1920s vamp Theda Bara. It kinda makes me mad how historically inaccurate this is. Theda wore sexy dresses and dark make up too. Everything but the pink hair. Pink hair didn't happen until the 1950s.

Historic is better in my opinion

the dress is, but not the makeup 💁 or the hair
What I hate his Goths don't understand. This is where it came from, yet they say was music that inspired it. NO! IT PAINS ME!
The Victorian Mourning girl just lost her family.
That flashy modern goth is what killed them.
Llike It's Black Friday

You watch Black Friday? Me too!!
the second one seems more like romantic goth to me
The historical dress is *gorgeous.*
The historical Victorian Gothic style will always be my favorite. It's so refined and elegant, feminine yet powerful... I just wish I had the money to actually dress that way, lol.
Mary Shelley created the world masterpiece Frankenstein at 19 yrs-old.
Women are Gothic in their very flesh, bone and soul.
the second one looks more like romantic goth
all of that are the same I mean victorian romantic and vampire...just different ideology
Lady Bellen
Ya, same with architecture
Queen Ann, Edwardian, Austere, 2nd empire Victorian

I would wear both
Me too
Prefer the historical.

Happy October to everyone (the spookiest month)
Erzs F happy October
What a beautiful corset shes wearing in the modern version! I love everything about her. well done Liisa!
Thanks Mary. I love that corset too!
i am an Italian Victorian Goth and i absolutely dress with the old Victorian fashion design.Love it.
The modern one look beautiful, but not Victorian to me. No Victorian blouse, the skirt is to short, no fascinator, etc. For me she looks like a romantic Goth and not historical inspired. Just my opinion. :)
This is one of the highest quality fashion channels on youtube. Please more.
Thanks for the kind words! I try my best with a small but mighty team to create the highest productions we can.
I'm absolutely in love with that first outfit
Me too, i wish i knew where can I buy it
I must say that I enjoyed the video and appreciate the work that went into it. Best regards
I really love all the Johnny Hollow that's been played in most of your videos 💜
Thanks. I'm a fan of their music and think it's the perfect fit!
DELIGHTFUL! That sheer corset is gorgeous, unfortunately at my age I need, ahem, a bit more coverage but wow that's beautiful!
I love and have worn both looks at various times. Though to be honest, the historic Victorian is my personal favorite. There's always been something about getting ready that just put me into the proper frame of mind. Another awesome video.
I'm a boy
I will buy a handmade tailcoat from around 1830 in black
Still have to choose the fabric
Can't wait
Nice but looks unfinished .. the second is goth but not really victorian goth .. it's more like a show burlesque goth .. I'm a victorian goth and I wear both modern and older Type of style
Dude tht see through corset!🖤🖤🖤
Loved this, short but sweet
1:37 personal, I love black lace and fringe and beautifully made black stockings with little bows at the tops attaching to her under garment to hold her stockings up. That lady could fit as a third party example tinging in the possible 1920s from a guess at stylistic wedding choices over the years.
I'm absolutely in love with the first one.... Wish I could find a dress like that
I love this, it's very sweet. Very cool, well done x thank you x
I hope we will also get a video where you explain the differences in words
Up
awesome video as usual. love both looks. well done
Love your videos. You're truly an awesome artist 🖤🤘🏻
Great work as always. Production values are top of the range, you and the team should be very proud!
Thanks Jarrett!
Both women looked great, but that lil smirk at 2:18 was something else
I personally prefer the historic but I really like how you presented them each and then together in the video in a mirror like fashion, very cool
I do both because it doesn't have to be one preference only!
I hope you don't mind, Liisa
I used to be gothic, not so much anymore, but still have love for it.
Love the style and fashion, especially when it's Victorian.
Simply gorgeous.
Love your style, your gorgeous 🖤🖤🖤
I love the tea party at the end it was so cute!
Beautiful. Loved both looks! X
ABSOLUTELY, love Gothic Style, good time for you, thank you
I really want that Victorian outfit! It looks so beautiful especially on the model! 🖤
Love these videos!
Século 19 é definitivamente uma época que eu gostaria de ter vivido, os vestidos eram incríveis
Omg the first one - I love those boots!
They're both great but that second outfit is my JAM.
Love this! Historical for sure 👍
I want the jewelry from the first model. The clothes, not so much if they were made period-correct (the additives to make black crepe non-reflective and stiff were known to cause a lot of health problems)...
Such a lovely video and two beautiful ladies 💕💕💕. Keep up the great work! You've got a subscriber for life!
This was beautiful I loved it
0:43 the dress is so pretty
Very unique & elegance the black 🖤 match with everything!
i find it much easier to dress in Victorian everyday and excepted more so by Joe public but its also nice to mix it a little
I love the Victorian . But I love the smoked look & scarlet hair as well. When I think Victorian I think of Lucy Westenra from Bram Stoker’s Dracula
Both are beautiful but I have always been partial when it comes to history. That’s why my dresses were $600 or more when I went out. Always custom made to be exactly like the ones in Victorian times... Still have them hanging up in my closet even though I haven’t been to a goth club in years lol..
Brandi Joy looks very beautiful. Excellent video 😁♥️
I honestly love them all
Both are beautiful!
🖤🖤🖤
Both are amazing
The outfits too!
Since I was a little girl the victorian way of dress was always appealing and beautiful. Still is
Iris von Everec combines the two perfectly
I really like them both. It's really hard to decide
We can find both of them In the alternate timeline you propose...or in the Viona's picnics...
Love BOTH
I like the back then look.
Black butler 😍
Yo me vestía como el segundo look gothic romantic ayyyy que linda época 😍🌹
Historic is a pure magic, just wow!
I love the victorian styl💕 I got my firs goth lolita set not long agou and love it💕💕💕💕
Love it!
They both look cool, but I can't imagine myself looking like that. I just prefer dressing like if I was in a funeral and putting some spooky elements like skulls, spiders, bats, bones, eyes... or typical symbols. It's a lot easier for me.
Try adding Steampunk to the mix for comparison.... Just a thought.
The 1800's to 1900's was the last Dark Age. There was no Dark Age in the 1700's. There was a mini Dark Age during the 1800's to the 1900's.
Victorian goth is stunning, I'd go to a ball or a concert in such an outfit.
I yesterday for the first time in my life saw an actual goth. Pretty cool experience
Those are magnificent!!!!
And now time for my complaints about the corset!: there should be a chemise underneath, and I shudder at the sight of glitter 😂
Thought the same thing!: Corset on bare skin? oof!
Soooo beautiful
I want these dresses.😆😍
Always loved a woman in goth. Always beauty in dark. I miss dressing this way but had to change because unfortunately I couldn't get a job. My appearance may have changed but who I am will never.
I like using victorian dress patterns to make my clothes because I love historically accurate victorian goth
Muy buenos diseños victoriana gótico
Both so beautifull
Beautiful! ❤️🖤🌹🖤❤️
Both are gorgeous, but I love the modern goth look a little more and that's what I would (wanna) wear. :)
😳 they be havin a picnic. my imagination's RUNNING
The mourning dress was beautiful.
I mix some of thw victorian ideas into my modern trad goth look :)
when ur a mix of the two 🖤👌🏾
I like the historical one much more. Nothing is over the top, but yet it’s much more dramatic.

came over from its black Friday and subed
Welcome!
Klasse, der moderne Stil.❤️
2nd one reminds me of a pirate wench but I like both styles
I prefer the historical. Because it's very elegant and simple
Lavishing
Eu amo o estilo vitoriano 👏
The modern one looks like a Halloween costume from value village
