      @@gregoryfenn1462 Most paleontologists don't believe that, they believe that T. rex (not T-Rex) was likely an opportunistic predator that hunted for its prey when it needed to but wasn't above chasing off smaller predators or scavenging a carcass. In other words, it probably acted like a present day lion or hyena does now a days and is neither exclusively predator or scavenger, or kill stealer.

    • @AngelEmfrbl
      @AngelEmfrbl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Riceball01 ITs actually a pretty logical assumption as many animals that hunt won't pass up a free or easy meal. Its only some species that pass up because their normally not able to handle possible diseases.

    • @Riceball01
      @Riceball01 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AngelEmfrbl I never said that they wouldn't pass up a free meal. I imagine Gigantoraptor was an omnivore with herbivorous leanings. People forget that omnivorous animals don't eat equal amounts of plant and animal matter, the diets of most omnivores is mostly plant matter, with over 80% in some species. Black bears for example it is 80% plants, 15% insects and only 5% meat.

    Yutyrannus is an animal that is capable of reaching sizes more than a tonne and some could even reach 2 tonnes in weight (Which is similar to Gigantoraptor size) and they have been found to have feathers. So, the argument of dinosaurs being too big for feathers seems to be quite invalid in this case. Personally I'd find it very odd for Gigantoraptor to not have feathers, especially since it's pretty bird like in the first place.

    Fun fact: there is a french paleontology channel on youtube named Motorsport Gigantoraptor, hosted by a kid that mostly debunks pseudo-science and sometimes does science news.
    This channel was massively pushed by the youtube algorithm last year, prompting a trolling campaign that included antisemitic insults, because that kid also happens to be the son of a former first lady and a mediatic philosopher.

      lol a lot of people seem to think that I am responsible for the bullying campaign that targeted this kid (which made national news). Telling me to kill myself does not make you good guys, you know.

    The kind of feathers dinosaurs didn't trap heat like fur. Instead they helped regulate body heat and would of cooled the animal down thus Gigantoraptor could of had feathers.

    I consider that these animals are unlikely to be herbivores. The huge claws and fast running speed plus the shearing beak suggest that they were carnivorous.

    Palaeontologists: It was big and lived in quite a hot environment so would likely not have many feathers or none at all.
    Palaeortists: *draws it fluffier than an Ostrich which is about 2/3 smaller*

    • @ksprice45
      @ksprice45 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Modern amateur paleoartists use waaaay to many feathers and specially evolved features from modern birds. The ideas started out as just that, ideas that were cool. However they’ve taken it way to far with the speculative paleontology in a lot of the modern art. It’s actually become less cool and more annoying as I’ve seen artists who go for more accurate drawings get chastised for not adding in the features of birds. As with a lot of good things in life, people who go to far ruin it with hate, and pressure to assimilate into what they believe is right

    • @flightlesslord2688
      @flightlesslord2688 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ksprice45 i know right. People see an accurate deinocheirus with sparse feathering (we only know it had tail feathers conclusively), and call it inaccurate because its not covered in feathers, which would contradict its habitat and size. Its dumb.
      I think the worst one is Utahraptor. Don't get me wrong I've seen some great fluffy utahraptor work. But this an animal as heavy as bear which lived in a semi-arid environment, its bigger than both ornithomimus and ostriches, but according to some palaeoartists it was an absolute fluff ball. Which would not only be detrimental for maintaining its temperature but also would inhibit its hunting most likely, especially a fluffy face and neck, given that it would have been eating animals larger than itself. I find the feathered face look of utahraptor pretty ridiculous given most birds that feed on carrion have featherless faces.
