Sam Cooke was so good, one of the great singers in the 60’s & very popular. I remember dancing to his music & many other popular soul music in the 60’s….Motown Music!👍🎵🎶🎵🌹🎸🎸🥰

It's very emotional. I could listen to it over and over. I agree with you wholeheartedly.❤

Yes it is....just to think he made this song 60 years ago and it's still relevant today...He tapped in, I played 4 times in a row.

Powerful song!!! In the words of Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions of the sixties, we've got to "Keep On Pushing".

Yes Ma'am it's just a little sad to me that 60 years later it's still relevant and the change has not come in full.

Now that you have entered the world of Sam Cooke, you should listen to "You Send Me", "Chain Gang", "Bring It On Home To Me" (his duet with Lou Rawls) and the version of "Twistin' The Night Away" live at the Copa, which will give you a sense of his spirit and personality. According to the movie you are speaking about "One Night in Miami" on Netflix, "A Change is Gonna Come" was written after a deep conversation that he had with Malcolm X. Sam Cooke was a game changer. He controlled his own career - wrote what he wanted to write, owned his own record label, publishing, etc. Despite the account given of how he died, several well-known artists of his era (including Smokey Robinson and Etta James)say what really happened is the Mafia wanted a piece of the pie but he refused because he knew what he was building was too important for Black people.
Don't give up on a change coming sometime in the future, no matter how bleak it may appear to be now - change, like death, is inevitable. In Islam, we have a saying "faith is suspended between FEAR and HOPE." FEAR of the WORST possible outcome and not pleasing our Creator and HOPE for the BEST and pleasing Him in the end!" So we should never be too inclined toward one extreme or the other especially since they have tried everything they could possibly do to get rid of us but, as the Main Ingredient say in "Black Seeds Keep On Growing": "Without water the seed just couldn't last for long but it fooled everyone and it grew up big and strong / It grew in soil that was so unfit to sow / but still that Black seed continued to grow" ... or, as Donny Hathaway said in "Little Ghetto Boy": "everything has gotta get better!"

Sincerely I thank you for the knowledge, wisdom and history you've given me. The insight and encouragement I appreciate. I was just being honest. I haven't given up all hope it's just when I think about Marcus, Malcolm, Martin, Medgar and Fred Hampton etc...When we were at our most conscious compared to now as well as what they always seem to come up with every decade to move the goal post or prevent us from moving the needle I just don't see it in this country. Small changes but no big leaps. "Faith is suspended between fear and hope" wow. I read Sam was the man with the plan, another one of our great ones gone early. I'll definitely be reacting to more of his songs.

This is such a sad song to me. I remember riding in the car with my dad listening to this song. Sam was my dad's favorite singer. We just rode in silence, because Sam Cooke had been killed. I don't like listening to it. I don't like to listen to The Dock Of The Bay either. These songs just remind me of these artist and their tragic deaths.
