Why y'all keep thinking DCT is superior? It is not... the ZF 8HP trannys are way faster, smoother, and stronger. They're basically better in every possible way, that's why BMW switched over to them on all M cars, and it's also why that tranny is becoming the go to for swaps.

Those M4 are hard to launch. It's always a little bit tricky with rwd, never know how much power to apply for the tires to stick. But once you're gone, you're gone!!

@@jip254 There isn't much difference weight wise between those two cars. M4 CS curb weight 3,620 lbs while the RS3 curb weight is 3,593lbs. The difference seen here is awd traction vs RWD.

It is hard to find an 8V RS3 in stock these days, since it is very cheap and easy to have a swipe for an extra 100 HP.

The bmw driving dynamics make up for it in my opinion. Rs3 are fwd biased understeer pigs. Great cars that are very composed but lacking excitement
@@CR-pu4tz unless you’re a super track loving person, that won’t sway you over something else though. The RS3 drives and handles very nice. That FWD bias isn’t as bad as haldex systems use to be. Sway bars and decent springs will have it feeling near perfect also
@@alit90 I don't disagree that they handle very well and offer a composed ride which it should at the price tag. Regardless they are fwd biased and lack enthusiasm because of it. I had a mk7 R with Haldex tuned and have had seat time in several rs3's. Eventually the driving dynamics got boring and ended up selling to go back to rwd manual setup. No regrets besides some winter fun but from spring to fall the bmw is more engaging and entertaining. Not bad cars and I am very interested in how the latest haldex generation will perform.

two different classes of cars…i would hope the m4 awd would be faster than an rs3. i think the purpose of this video is to see how a lightweight or powerful car can lose to an awd lower rung car just because of how power is put down. the new m4 x drive will be a monster, and will be cool to see how audi responds with the new rs5

that M4 had traction control on lol, MDM mode with full Traction off and that's a different story. Got an M4 running 305 rear tires, MDM and traction off and this thing takes off with very little wheel spin (you can't step on it 100%, this is when skills come when driving RWD)

You’re not wrong happened every time. Maybe the driver was a bit timid or it was intentional. Your not going to win from a dig on a fairly equal horsepower race comparing an awd car and rear wheel car for the most part. But in the rolling race the BMW was letting off around the finish line making the final ground level view look closer IMO

The BMW still wins overall. 2/3 rolling race and circuit. Audi 1/3. Drag race. Both engines are engineering marvels. But, Audi power train and axels are poorly made. Sure you can make it run 8 sec 1/4 mile. But it won’t last.
It's actually faster to leave it in sport in the Audi vs manual shift when drivers can't drive properly 🙄
A used 2018 M4 costs the same as 2018 RS3 in Canada.
I picked M4 for the scare factor, the RS3 was too easy to drive/launch like my X4.
And the difference in road presence is ENORMOUS, RS3 looks way too normal for the price.

@@Chair991 tune only a45s makes more power but less torque than a tune only rs3. A45s makes almost 500bhp with only a tune! Mercedes has definitely upped there game in recent years and audi are struggling to keep up. Due to emissions I admit. Unless you want to pile money into the rs3, the a45s is quicker to 60 and the quarter mile. Rs3 does sound better though.

atleast in this generation A3 I believe the screen retracts into the dash. Unlike the more current A4/A5/Q5 designs.

The M4 has dynamic advantages you can feel on the road and is so much more rewarding to drive.

That RS3 is not stock, Its got an aftermarket front mount intercooler.
Paddle shifters for the RS3 dual clutch are behind the wheel numb nuts. He drags like pops borrowing his son's car. Probably didn't even switch it into Dynamic mode and comfort all the way.
Should try the new 2022 rs3 (401 bhp) vs the regular 2018 m4 (425 bhp)
Audi is a boring good launch - M will kill it all day everyday on track and have a ton more fun. Audi engines also die off after like 140/hr
but when are you on the racetrack? Not 000.1% of the total mileage. And are you a racing driver? A good driver with the RS3 kills a bad driver with the M4

There was no way any rs3 or rs4 could pass on rolling race but yh traffic lights yh no chance on that but even then if road is long enough then it will catch. Waiting for new one to come out with xdive then all them 4 rings gonn see only tail lights.
