Had an uphill touron skied into me at squaw and his first reaction was to try to put blame on me. Downhill skier has the right of way because we can’t see behind us whereas the uphill skier can. I advised him very clearly that it was responsibility to watch where he was going and not assume the skiers below him would look behind them and try to ascertain his intentions to avoid a collision…. I was a bit more colloquial in our exchange but I’m pretty sure he got the message when I told him if he can’t avoid hitting a stopped person below him on the trail then has no business skiing on it. Thankfully the only injury was his damaged ego.
Lets be clear,....this woman failed to negotiate a chair. And now lawyers have the right to sue whomever they can get a buck from, this happened in the 80's as well and killed freestyle skiing for most of 2 decades,.....Nanny State of MIND sucks for everyone.
I always wanted to ski in the US it always looked great, but after seeing everything with the ski patrol and lift ticket prices and now this I will stick to Europe
One thing that needs to be added to the Responsibility Code is to lower the safety bar when riding the chairlift. Most skiers and snowboarders don't lower it - in the United States, anyway. I've heard that in Europe everyone lowers it every time. People here seem to think they are too cool to use the safety bar but, sometimes a person can and does fall off of a chairlift. Think about it - 30 or 40 feet in the air with no safety bar in front of you! Even children high up in the air with no safety bar in front of them! Most people wear helmets now. Would you ski or snowbaoard without a helmet? Would you let your child ski or snowboard without a helmet. A helmet protects your head, a chairlift safety bar protects your whole body.
65 years, 5,000 +- days on the slopes/chairs, no need for a safety bar! Human misbehavior and general lack of common sense/responsibility, not sitting back, sitting still and messing around are cause for falling off a chair!
If you want to put the bar down that's your choice, just please let others know before lowering the bar. If you'd like to have the government tell you what to do on every decision you make maybe you'd like it better in North Korea? I prefer the freedom of choice rather that a government mandate personally. PRAY FOR SNOW!
Truth. I always put the bar down, whenever I’m riding with a stranger, they seem like it’s completely foreign to them. I don’t care though, the effing bar is coming down.
Great analysis, thank you! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Quit sewing ski resorts! Shit like this is how Vail and Alterra buy up all the really good small mom and pop ski resorts. There is enough corporate greed already, let's not ruin skiing with more Vail buy outs.
Wow another way to sue people just what r screwed up society needs
How does someone fall off a chair lift then sue the resort?
how does girl that large fall off a lift, is my question.

Lawyers like this are why ticket prices are $250.
She's the idiot who fell off a chairlift and gets to sue? WTF?
Surely no one will take advantage of this, least of all the lawers.
The resort can't make a chairlift any safer than it is. Also how tf you just fall off a chairlift and then sue the resort? lmao
I take it she didn't the time to put the lifts safety bar down? How dumb can one be.
Resort skiing has become intolerable. Backcountry ftw
Like wealty politicians, at the stroke of a pen, they just get out of it.

Those camera settings are way off.
Rediculous, this is one reason ski tickets are so expensive!
Lawyers are pest
interesting break down of the law on hit and run on the slopes.

Why wouldn't you ride with the bar down? It's safer and it allows you to rest your legs between runs.
I even use a safety bar when I sit on my couch at home. Can never be too safe.

Great. the lift price gonna sky rocket.

In NYC they arrest people who try to help others. Here, we legislate that you mus5 help others.
We never see the resort held accountable. Its always the other way. I keep seeing poor maintenance with the lifts.
United States of Suing🇺🇲
Shannon Ogden is smoking!
Can you please grow up?
She fit into a chair?
