I don't know exactly how complimentary it is but it kind of reminds me of when you are really little, a small kid or something, and you think every stranger adult is a kidnapper, because it's what adults tell you to "be careful of strangers", but more so because you have a really active imagination and it makes life seem more adventurous! I feel like the perspective you gave set a nice feeling of dread and cautiousness that could have made this story feel a lot more scary and supernatural than the reality could have likely been. I think that use of perspective really draws you in to feel like the character, but it also can be used for humor or even mistrust of the perspective, which is exciting in of itself because we know he started out a little tipsy, so we don't know how much of this is really real or just feels real. I would definitely be interested in more of this stuff! Even though I'm a "non-Scot", I could still understand most of it... but not all of it... still, I think this is really good and I think I would be into a whole book written by you.

It's a wee joke about a place called Fife. A part of Scotland that's just across the river from Edinburgh. I grew up sort of taking the piss out of them and they take the piss out of us all the time too.
