  • This is the real-time version of the previous video we did on carving a wood spirit. Several followers asked to see the realtime version to see more detail on how this piece was created. Watch as Carver king Paul from Ontario Canada sculpts this white oak cut off into a beautiful spirit face using just die grinder and dremel in 30 minutes.

    Fantastic. I loved getting to see how you went from one tool to the next and the image just kept getting more and more intense. Cheers!!

      Thanks! Me too, even though I carved it , is still like seeing how it progressed. I also learn quite a bit about the mistakes I make and how to improve on the next one. It makes for a great learning process for me anyway.

    I'm a Sculpture Major currently at college and I absolutely love finding new things I haven't tried before. I took a wood stump and carved an abstract relief from it, but it was only about 4 inches from the surface I grinded flat around it. How do you deal with removing mass amounts of material, without accidentally removing too much?

      We call that blocking. Basically you need to figure out what wood you do not need and cut around that

    Nice job, i carved an eagle out of cedar post and it cracked up the side. how do you deal with cracks

      It’s wood and it will crack, unless you are using kiln dried and laminated for your project. So I either use cedar shakes or make my own shims and glue them in. Then trim them back and reshape to match

    Never done faces or anything before just abstract sculptures. I have been wanting to try something representational but faces look so hard. But animals look hard also.

    You use the bits at full speed, or the grinder has a speed selector? I mean, the big grinder.

    • @CarverKingsOfficial
      @CarverKingsOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The large die grinder is not variable. It run full speed. When using the large one, I am usually move a lot of wood so that is what you want. For the smaller one I use variable speed.

      @@CarverKingsOfficial I have a Makita GD0600, no variable speed. That's why I asked. Used it on wood, only with bits for steel, and one bit for aluminum. Most of the bits for wood are suitable for maximum 5000 rotations. I've bought a cheap Parkside, recently, with variable speed. You are incredibly talented, congratulations.

      Thanks. I like Makita but I can buy 3 cheap brand ones for the same price. Princess auto has replacement policy, so I just bring them in and swap them out when they break.

      @@CarverKingsOfficial what does that mean, replacement policy? You bring in the old broken product, and you get a new one? I assume you pay a replacement tax, how much is it, in percent of the price?
