Jungle knots / bungees have been my go to for a while. When I first discovered the jungle knot I just sat there thinking “how on earth has this not been common knowledge for a hundred years now?!” 😂
Greetings, boss. Can you do a video of any use of 550 cord, plus any alice rigs vs. Smersh kit? I understand that any of use don't have deep pockets, but alice/Smersh/mollie or ww2 snap closure pouches. Please stay with "J" and his fellow channel members for start-up information.
I like your idea of using your fist to create uniform distance between the knots. I tied "figure of eight knots" so they're easier to untie if I need to re-purpose my cord. May I suggest, you tie your ends together & start from that end because you won't have any odd length of cord to trim that way. Keep up the great work mate!👍
Great vid mate, thanks for the mention. Here’s another idea for you. Add a smallish loop of strong bungee to the eyelets of you tarp and then attach the jungle knots to the bungee. Gives a bit of play to your shelter, just enough to take out any stress on the tarp in high winds etc which will stop it from tearing. Worth a try,, if it doesn’t work for you then bin it and stick with the original set up. Stay safe. TSUK.
Good for freezing cold when dexterity is an issue I've used this technique in the winter for tethering down shelters it's sort of like how soft shackles work. Thank you for the video!.
I do it a bit different. I always have a jungle hammock with my tarp. I have a bungee along the top of the hammock for the tarp and my hammock anchor points are where you have the over hand knots and that's where I have figure eight knots. A bit more 550 cord but much more secure for holding me up off the ground about a foot so as not to have anything want to share my bed.
Thank goodness someone who speaks English. Tried watching this numerous times with the Brits trying to explain it and it wasn't so good. Thank you for not saying "Basher" 37 times that's appreciated and you cut right to the chase. With the Brits they seem to ramble for minutes before they get down to "it"...thank you Sir.
watches an american bloke put up a British Army basha inside out whilst un ironically moaning about its own inability to comprehend the English language. oh dear, how tragically embarrassing for you ! 😂
I like the idea, but it seems fragile in incliment weather. I would say to use a spring loaded caribeaner and hook the tail end and the lead end and pull tention.
I fold the tarp in half lengthwise 3 times, lay the jungle knots in it (so they don't get tangled) and roll the tarp up then it goes in a stuff sack. I keep bungees and pegs in another stuff sack.
I’m finally getting around to winterizing my get home bag. One area I’ve neglected is a sleep system. All I have currently is a glorified emergency blanket by SOL. I have a fleece sleeping bag I plan to stuff in it for a little additional warmth but was curious if you or anyone else had a recommendation for something better. Thought about a woobie but I use the poncho as my shelter so…
I started with the SOL emergency blanket and it was kind of flimsy so I upgraded to a "Tact Bivy " and while better it still was too thin for repeated use. So I finally ended up buying an Arcturus Survival Blanket and have been happy with it! This way I can still use the poncho as an overhead shelter and can use the Arcturus blanket and a woobie as a pseudo Ranger Taco... www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01H6NC8XU/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWwp13NParams&th=1
Goretex bivi bag coupled to a lightweight sleeping bag from any of the military modular systems is an excellent base to work from. Invest in a good bivi bag, the US and UK ones are both good, many of the nato ones also that are genuine goretex. If you need a winter option instead of the woobie, consider packing a softie suit (a pile synthetic insulated top and bottoms, often used by anglers) that’s pretty much a wearable sleeping bag that packs down to a similar volume as the woobie. That inside the lightweight sleeping bag and bivi bag, you’ll be toasty and more importantly dry in very harsh conditions should you require it. All the best from blighty 🏴🤙
What is that concoction you have on the front of your chest with all those pockets? And what in the world would you carry in those pockets?. Can you explain to me where you bought such a contraption?
Does this have any downsides? Maybe the double amount rope needed? What would be the weight limit that you would trust in this knot? The rope seems a bit sturdier when doubled and knotted.
Man thank you for getting to this so fast ( although time is one luxury we don’t have )! What coat are you wearing in the video? How about another run of MM patches? Stay safe Brother!
No worries mate! The jacket I'm wearing here is actually an LL Bean Mountain Anorak that I modified by doing a "Raid Mod" by adding sleeve pockets on the biceps and I did some rattle can camo to it. Perfect for a lightweight, windproof/water resistant, packable shell piece. It's been awhile since I did patches! Maybe again in the near future.
Were you not concerned about the acetone in the spray paint damaging the material? Perhaps I need to check out that video. lol I’ve painted a ton of my stuff but never thought of painting things made of that material.

That was exactly my thought too! LOL...

I think it has, but till plastic paracord was just too expensive in terms of single use not so playable cordage.

That's a solid idea to try out! Thanks for the tip!
Man i’ve never heard of jungle knots definitely have to give them a try
That's awesome, thank you for this 👍
Why have I been learning knots for years? 😮
Shoot me now!😂
Thanks for this!😊
I know, right... It was a game changer for me too.
Used these knots tonight in my system test. Worked flawlessly. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome!
I would use a carabiner in that application. But jungle knots are super handy for sure.
Blackie thomas has a video where he shows Jungle knots being used to hold branches for camouflage.

Another Nifty trick for the toolbox...
Thank you Jay. Good stuff

Can't overlook the basics! Thanks brother.
Awesome content, appreciate it!
Thank you
Another great video man. These are the skills everyone overlooks. Keep up the videos!
Thanks! I agree, field craft has become a bit of a lost art.
This is how I have my tarp setup. There’s no easier or faster way.
Great videos brother, keep them coming.
Thank you!
Cool way to do it!
Thanks

At least we British invented English and can get our bashas the right way up!😂
@@Jimimac73 English is derived from Latin and other early forms of Anglo Saxon dialects…and our bashas stay up all night!!!!! GoodDay Mate
What exactly are you saying?

Nahhh its seriously solid. 80mph winds and mine were fine.
How do you pack/ store your shelter and jungle knots?

Our come with their own pouch attached

Sweet and it doesn’t cost a fortune either.

I'm wearing the Condor 7-pocket Chest Rig. Here is my review on it here to answer your questions.

The jacket is a modified LL Bean Mountain Anorak. The chest rig is a Condor 7-pocket chest rig.
