I'd be careful about suggesting that people whitelist their public IP address for management. Some people won't have a static IP address & it would eventually lock them out.

The public ip doesn't change the local ip is what changes 192.168.0.0/24

@@1337shadow a home user's public IP address can change occasionally. When you're managing a cloud instance that's where the source of the SSH traffic will be coming from. Your private IP is irrelevant as it will be natted by your router.

Nice video. Next time please talk more about WHY one would want to do this and what are the alternatives. One could just use command line, no panel, correct? What if I prefer NGINX over Apache? Stuff like that.

Thanks for the great video/tutorial. Question from a newbie: you recommended changing the password and locking it down so only my IP can access the cPanel but I don't have a static IP (I'm just using my wifi from my home network) - and maybe this is a dumb question, but if I set it to my current laptop's IP, and it changes, won't I get locked out? Thanks again.

Another question if you happen to see this: the email account I set up is able to receive emails but thus far nothing I send out seems to show up (I checked spam/junk folders). Ideas? Again, thanks for the tutorial.

As another user has commented below.. Its not a good idea to only allow your public ip as most ISP's change ip every couple of months or so. You usually have to pay for a static ip.
Best way would be to use ssh keys and disable being able to log in via passwords indefinitely. Generate a keypair using ssh-keygen on each of your devices you plan on connecting with. I would advise against using the same private key more than once incase it ever gets compremised. You don't want to get locked out of your system and via doing it this way, you will also have access to logs to be able to understand which key/system has been compremised.
Also, I'd recommend looking through how to secure your server- linode actually has a guide and it should help a lot for beginners. Been with linode for a few years now and I gotta admit, they really are a top notch service.
Lastly, if setting up a mail server- do a bit of research into it and make sure everything is setup correctly and that it passes all the mail checks. Its easy to get your domain/ip blacklisted if not done correctly, especially to gmail services.
Hope this might help a few of you.

Hestia: In the Ancient Greek religion, (/ˈhɛstiə, ˈhɛstʃə/; Greek: Ἑστία, "hearth" or "fireside") is the virgin goddess of the hearth, the right ordering of domesticity, the family, the home, and the state. In Greek mythology, she is the firstborn child of the Titans Cronus and Rhea.
