  • Our Cessna 172 is finally back from repair after the September goose strike, and I'm taking it out solo for a quick tour of some rural airports around North Central West Virginia.
    We'll stop at Philippi, WV (79D), Buckhannon-Upshur County (W22), and end up at Class-D Clarksburg (KCKB), before returning to Fairmont (4G7).

    Wow! So cool, I purchased my 1960 Cessna 172 from Philippi in 2015. Flew it back to Kansas City Mo.
    Beautiful country in WV, thanks for sharing.

      How much does it cost you to purchase 1960 bird?

    I'm obsessed with the con trails off the propeller at 1:24. I'm confused about how they formed in such wide circles. I assume you're making about 2400 rpm, which means the prop is turning 40 times per second. And I don't understand how the camera's shutter speed only puts the con trails in the locations that we see. Maybe the contrails themselves are swirling around the airframe? I dunno but that effect is incredibly cool.

    As always, excellent content. Looks like beautiful country there. The weather has been cruddy here in Western WA and haven't been able to fly. So looking forward to being back in the air!!! Thanks again and look forward to the next one.

      Can concur. Western WA is a beast of a place to fly in sometimes. Out of KTIW. Thanks for the content Midlife Pilot.

    Great video as usual! I've followed you since my journey started! Post Solo, Short Solo complete, Night Flights almost complete, and Long Solo next month; shirt intro but would love to know your stance on whether to get iPad with or without cellular connectivity? I believe you use Wi-Fi before flight and no cellular connectivity. Thanks for the great job you're doing with your videos!

    Great video, how much faster is it to take the 172 then driving?

    Is the feather on the backseat from the bird that damaged the wing?

    • @MidlifePilot
      @MidlifePilot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, no! Good eye. That feather has been in there since early in my training. We found it on a dual cross country.

    Where did you get your license? I live between Clarksburg and Parkersburg and want to get my license.

    I'm wondering if the flight school in Morgantown is still open. I've left three messages in the last two weeks with not one return call. Maybe they are shut down. Do you know anything about them?

    • @MidlifePilot
      @MidlifePilot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      RSA. I think they’re still open. Last I heard they were exceptionally busy. When I started training I tried for months to get in there and never could.

      @@MidlifePilot thanks for the reply. I may just go ahead and get my training in Virginia Beach since I'm going to be down there quite often

    Any update on the Goose?

    • @MidlifePilot
      @MidlifePilot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Goose (actually geese - the plane hit three of them) didn’t fair so well lol. One was obliterated, one was decapitated and the third broke a leg.
