Ah yes, the relatable problem of having a freshly made cake and apparently not owning a single kitchen implement, but luckily I keep my medicine cabinet stocked with toothpicks and dental floss. Happy Birthday, Mabel, here's a violently uneven "leveled" cake.
Sis I love baking and LOVE baking cakes and cookies im 12 👁👄👁 I've never fully burnt cookies only the bottoms a few times but one time j made cinnamon rolls and the bottom burnt so we took a knife and shaved it still good
I took a cake decorating class and that was how we were taught, with dental floss and tooth picks. She taught us that way and then she taught us the normal way. It does work if it's done correctly, a knife or cake leveler is easier though lol.
The so-called marbled hack clearly left out two very important components: first, either it needed more chocolate or the chocolate had to finish melting; and second, to get that marbled, feathered effect, the cake needed to be tilted in several directions. That's how they get the effect with paint pours - the various colors are poured out in streams on a board, and then the board is tilted, forming the swirls and marbling. Just pouring the icing in a circular motion over the top of the cake will never give you that look, no matter how much chocolate is added to the white icing. But since the whole point of these hacks is to claim they take very little time, they can't add that second component. It would also risk your cake sliding right off the plate, lol. Maybe a blow-dryer on the no-heat setting to move the icing around?
@@amatullahzakirhussain9357 I don't know how well that would work, but definitely smaller pieces of chocolate (like chocolate chips, maybe) so they melt easier AND a lot more of them overall.
Whenever I overcook my grilled cheese sandwiches and burn them a little, I can actually scrape off a bit of it with a knife and it tastes fine, but it can't be burned to the point where it's super black or anything. It's only good if it's only a little burnt (which I do a lot because I forget that I'm cooking 😂)
Cookies don't work like that though you burn a cookie it's going to taste burnt the black may be gone but that burnt bottom has made its way throughout the cookie you're going to always taste it
oh my Lord lmfao..Sometime ago I was hesting up a hotpocket in the microwave, and forgot it was in there and I put it on for too long, ended up with a garden rock and a smoke filled house LMAO
Being a professional baker she probably has a high end oven and quality cookie sheets. It would be hard to burn just the bottom like the hack. It would turn into a nice even brown brick before it burned.
7:26 Growing up poor, we scraped the burned bits off toast. Grown up, and poor, still do! Usually only happens with hand sliced bread, or a toaster you're not yet familiar with. Tastes fine. EDIT: We use a butter knife to do the scraping. No need to buy a zesting blade!
Hard relate. You can rub two burnt halves on each other too and that works really well to get burnt parts off both. Just do it over the sink, it is a lot of mess.
I didn’t grow up poor but my mom did not let us waste so she always scraped the burnt side off the toast with a knife. Still do it to this day even if there’s a whole loaf. Definitely lived a frugal life
5:58 - THE COOKIE HACK WORKS!! For those of us who aren’t bakers, we bake our cookies directly on the cookie sheet as that’s what we see on commercials - you’ll see the hack video doesn’t have paper either 😂 The direct heat from the cookie sheet cooks the bottom faster and burns it, while the rest of the cookie is basically fine, maybe a little crispy. Based off of how you set up your cookies, I now know to use parchment paper 👌
I'm a baker and I've never used parchment paper to line my cookie sheets rarely have a burnt cookie to the point that it needs the burnt part scrapped off. And if I do then I know my oven is to hot.
@@TherealDanielleNelson I’m not a baker but I’ve baked a lot at home and I’ve never used parchment paper either except for macarons. Everything turns out great. I'd try melting the chocolate and icing separately, because chocolate needs a higher melting temp, then just pour one into the other before pouring over the cake.
I was thinking the same. Also the icing needs to heated in intervals stirring in between. Then I thought, were those icing tubs made to be microwaved? The wrong plastic can release some nasty chemicals in the microwave!
Tim Frey I was thinking to cut the chocolate into much smaller pieces so you can heat both gently and let them melt evenly, but I think the purpose of her doing it that way was to copy the video exactly...

My mom actually started making the chocolate frosting for our birthday cakes with strong coffee in place of milk do thinning, and it makes it so smooth and chocolatey, I never make chocolate icing with milk anymore, I always use the strong coffee.
I’ve done the marble one successfully. I put a Lindor truffle on the top of the icing in the jar so it melted better than being pushed down. I waited until it had just started bubbling and VERY lightly swirled with a skewer. I poured it in a swirl then used a blow dryer to swirl it more

pretty sure the chocolate icing one was ACTUAL chocolate and vanilla icing mixed together, a much smarter way to do it if you're going the marbled pour store bought icing route
In my experience, cookies burn like that either when you cook them on the bottom rack of the oven or if you don't use parchment paper.
Exactly
When she clicks the hairstraitener I don’t know why but I laughed so hard.
I love that you have no annoying long intro, and that you just get right to the point.
for the burned bottom cookies i confirm it it works do good
Frosting is a fail, cake level is a fail. Happy Dt. Patty's day and Happy Birthday to your Grammy.
Hi Laurie u really inspire me to try baking keep being amazing and creating new things! ❤️🧁
They sell these dehydrated lemon & lime slices, & those come with the peel on them that you eat & they're pretty bomb tbh.
wow so cool the things that i found Entertaining was the jolly ranchers and splitting the cake in half
The sound of grating away at cookies shouldn't be as funny and somehow satisfying as it is... Thanks for the laugh 😂🖤
I wish a hair straighter could make me straight.
_sike lmao my gfs to cute_
Mood
God I felt that
Aww how cute
Straightener lol

I'm so happy you're having fun doing youtube videos, most people: Start, continue, gain millions, and feel pressured
Hello. For the marble technique, i would pre-melt the choc, and lightly start into the warm icing. Then pour it like they said.
I really like how she laughs, makes me laugh as well🤣🤣
Her incessant giggling makes her almost unwatchable for me
@@ticketyboo2456 why
@@bushrarehman8097 people who laugh hysterically when something is only mildly amusing have always made me very uncomfortable. Her content, however, is extremely good.
@@ticketyboo2456 oh ok
@@ticketyboo2456 it just mean those people have a very low laughing point. Even lame jokes would sound funny.
Insomnia. 5AM.
YT: Watch this, dude.

Do NOT believe in no-brainer hacks!
I have always believed that 5 minute crafts never show any genuine thing and they always do nothing except than WASTAGE. Even if you look at any of their videos, literally any video you will see that there is nothing except wastage and other art youtubers and lifestyle youtubers also while doing a review videos say that it's total wastage
I think 65% of the wastage on planet is done by 5 minute crafts
Also, all their crafts that work are stolen from other youtubers!
Maybe my family is weird but I eat a thin slice of lemon (like for that candied lemon hack you did) for fish fingers. Definitely delicious. Sweet/savoury from the fish finger, sour and a hint of bitterness from the lemon skin. Try it, tastes good.
I don't think it's weird, considering that the 11th doctor's favorite food is fish fingers and custard
Happy St Patrick's Day, Laurie. Keep on being beautiful, my friend.
Heat chocolate separately from frosting. Stir two together so it just barely starts to swirl! Then pour! Works great and is beautiful!
the amount of sarcasm in this vid is amazing. Thx Laurie!
You’re so fun!!!! This was in my recommended and I gave it a shot and you’re so adorable and funny and enjoyable to watch. Subscribing :)
I always put a shot of espresso in my chocolate cake and in the chocolate icing. And I have grated a lot of burnt cookies and with royal icing you can't taste the difference. That lemon wasn't squeezed soft enough. I used the same tecnique as a child for instant orange juice.
Candied lemon peels are literally sold as snacks "IT's gOT LeMOn PeEL IN iT" wtf are y'all on
In elementary school, my friend would bring lemons to school for lunch. She would then eat them like APPLES. Just.... Nom. Peel and all. It was kinda disturbing, but we just ignored it as much as we could.
oh my god - I had the BEST laugh at you grating the burnt cookie............just feels so wrong.........laughing with you girl, love this
My cat perked up and turned toward the computer when you were scraping the burn cookie *laugh cry emoji"
Can we talk about her smile? It's absolutely precious!
When I was growing up kids would call me a burnt cookie 😔
Awwww am so sorry, that's NOT okay, I really hope u don't go through that sort of thing anymore
Mariam Yehia People still try and be mean to me for being Dark skin but honestly I’m 23 and it doesn’t bother me as much . It’s like ok but my dark skin is beautiful and just because you are t a fan doesn’t give anyone the right to put me down over something I can’t change

ouch
There different sorts of lemons. I think for the lemon candy thing you need a really sweet lemon sort. I tried it with a Italien sort this tasted really good. I also think you need a sort with a sweet pealing.
It's only a table spoon , you dont want to taste the coffee . It just brings out the chocolate. Bakers have been doing this for decades. It really does work hun. Love your channel
Straightening the floss cracked me up 😂😂😂😂
im just laughing along whenever she does at 3 am now
help i found one of her videos on my recommended and im addicted now
I really missed your amazing cookies and cake designs !!
The lemon slices needed to be baked longer til they were hard coming out of the oven
In India, we don't peel the lemon to make pickles out of it. But after becoming a pickle it tastes amazing too.
You're *Turning $3 grocery store cupcakes* video was in my recommended. Now I can't stop watching your videos!!! I love you you're *fantastic*! Keep up the *AWESOME, TRUTHFUL* work!!!
