Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Marigolds are too stinky though, never was a fan. Too many other amazing flowers one can grow. How about Lobelia for a short plant you can put in containers & front of the borders? I grew last year & loved them.
@@monawolfe, not all the time.. there are some new varieties that aren't as 'stinky'. I like the stinky ones because I sweat they keep the bad bugs away from my tomatoes.
@@monawolfe I used to hate them smell, but nit doesn't bother me anymore. But they're help so much with repelling pests and attracting beneficial insects that they're worth it.
Hi! How do you grow marigolds for cut flower? I cant find any vids on youtube! Ive tried growing but they flowef mutiple buds in one stem, please do a video pls

I only have light in the very back of my yard. It’s paved back there so I can only have a container garden. That hasn’t stopped me from buying about 20 packets of seeds with grand plans to cram flowers into every strip of sunlight I might have 😅
I’m trying to buy a house with 1/10th acre. I want to grow a years worth of veggies and all the flowers. Haha it’s definitely not happening but I’ll be damned if I don’t try

I often watch your videos at night as I’m going to sleep and thinking about flowers. I get so relaxed I fall asleep like a baby...Your little sweet voice is so relaxing, lol. But I like to think some of your knowledge has been programmed into my brain bc I’m growing all kindsa things I didn’t know I wanted to grow using your winter sowing method & propagating using the bottles. Seeds are cheap, but it does take time & energy I’m reminding myself, so no, I can’t grow ALL the flowers even though my magical child brain thinks so! 😜🌸
I'm still trying to convince myself that I don't have space to grow ALL THE FLOWERS. LOL!
@@TONYAwiththeflowers I think I just NEED to experience NEW plants & a big variety. You could grow ALL the flowers by sowing fewer of each? Lol But they all need different things so you could go crazy trying to remember what to do with each at different times. I have lots of perennials & house plants that keep me busy, otherwise I’d grow more varieties.

Yours were some of the first videos I watched when I first started gardening two years ago. I started simple like you suggested and have branched out to lots of different things and currently focus on native plants. I still love and appreciate your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!
I too love the native varieties. Just adopting a wildflower garden helped me learn so much, about the flowers and the pollinators who love them!
Another snowy day in Wisconsin so seeing colorful garden flowers is a special treat. 22 winter sowing jugs under the snow so far. So much to look forward to in the garden this spring and summer. Thanks for another enjoyable video!

Completely agree. I’ve switched where I buy my milk for now so I can get more of the non-opaque bottles.

I love that your videos focus on the flowers, they're beautiful to watch over and over, even as a screensaver. Side note about comments, I just logged onto my laptop to leave a comment for you (as per request on one of the video's I watched the other day-I usually watch on the TV) and it was so hard to find the comment area!! Weird...it was allllll the way on the bottom and didn't even show up when I used ctrl+f and typed in comment-No result. And no, I'm not 1,000 years old lol Just thought I'd let you know. Thanks again

Hi.. can you make a video how and when we should cut the flowers of the plant. And how to extend the life of these flowers in vase.. not getting this video anywhere on youtube.. and after cutting these flowers the plant grow more flowers in same season

Getting my first small cut flower garden ready to go, mostly using the winter sowing method since I have limited space inside - Cosmos, Cleome, and Asters into soda bottles this afternoon! Also love the new thumbnails for your videos, really catches your eye when scrolling.

I mostly grow the taller ones, but there are several really pretty short dwarf varieties, as well. I think 'Green Thumb' is one of my favorites for bouquets.

The Ranunculus at the start is one is in my top 5 favorites ever, wish they bloomed all summer. My Zinnas got at least 6' tall last yr, they were amazing. My mom loved Sunflowers, she was always upset that they never faced the house, good tip about pollen-less. "Get carried away with what we see online", you're one channel that does that for me =^)

I think those orange cosmos are actually a type of marigold. I like them for flower crowns.
Great video as always! Been busy researching when I should plant each variety, what LIKES cold weather,, what's just cold TOLERANT, each succession, what to pinch what NOT to pinch, etc.! So that I can hopefully have some blooms like yours! 😁

Lovely photography, so inspiring! I also love zinnias and have had many neighbors ask to take my dried seed heads. I will be trying the "brain" celosia for the first time this year. Do they reseed? My favorite amaranth is called "love lies bleeding" which are long drooping red ropes. Thank you for another video.
Yes, celosia will definitely re-seed themselves. I've tried to grow love-lies-bleeding before, but for whatever reason, I always have terrible luck with it. Maybe I'll have to try again! :)

I'm in Atlanta and I grew my first flowers 2 years ago. zinnia and cosmos were insanely easy to grow, I didn't really know what I was doing and they looked amazing. This year I'm growing profusion zinnias. Next year I'm going to try bulbs, there's just seemed advanced

Thank you for your video! It was super informative. My husband and I are avid gardeners and have several gardens on our property...woodland garden, pond garden, perennial garden and vegetables. This year we are designing a cut flower garden. We don't have a greenhouse or planting lights...so I am going to try my hand at planting the seeds directly in the soil. We live in PA and are zone 6. I realize that our bloom time will be later due to this...any tips would be appreciated.

I have always hated those big monstrous sunflowers that r bigger than me. Flowers should b dainty and delicate, imo. Butt. . . . I have a back yard that is a fish bowl and all the neighbors love to come and talk every ding dang time I am out there. So. . . . I will try those massive, scary asss sunflowers (secession planting) so I can get some work done such as, planting permanent, people blocking plants, in my back yard without conversing (wasting time) with ALL The People. also i love amaranth .... going to try and grow them in the patch i previously had sunflowers - gets too hot & dry for them there, maybe the amaranth will fare better in that spot.
I grew Red Spike last years, praying for some volunteers this year.

Hey so I have watched your videos on having cut flowers in your landscape and I am thinking of doing something similar. My question is how do you take care of the ground your growing annuals in? Do you till? Do you just throw compost down in the small areas before you plant every time and just break up the ground with a shovel?
My beds are now mostly no-till. I simply pile the compost on top and turn it into the soil with a shovel. Hope that helps! :) :)

Did I miss which seeds to direct sowed??? I don’t have enough room and light in my cottage to grow strong enough seedlings 😔
Idk my zone. I’m a beginner. It’s cold here. Alway been told by my old timers to never plant before the first full moon in June. Frost usually comes around mid September to ward the end more so but we do get 23/24 hrs of sun light in June and lots in July. I want to plant Gladiolas (my all time fav) any hints?? Please!!!!
I would definitely start by searching for the last frost date in your area online. Most tender plants, like gladiolus, can be planted then and begin growing through summer. Thanks so much for watching! Happy gardening!

Any suggestions for colder wet summers? Basil and celosia dont grow at all at where i am.
Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with cool summer weather. Ours are very, very hot.
Would you mind telling me how far apart you plant your zinnias, Snapdragons, Cosmos, & celosia?
Most of my plants are spaced about 6 inches apart, with the exception being larger blooms like sunflowers and some varieties of celosia. Thanks for watching! :)

So how do you get the pests off your flowers in order to deliver them?
That's a great idea for a video! Any insects usually leave during the conditioning process, but there are a few things I do to make sure they're gone.
Do you have to stake your amaranth?
Is it always true that the red-pink-white cosmos variety is rarely more than 50% germination? In my experience over last several years is that the yellow-orange variety of cosmos is the fastest, (or worst depending on your view) reseeder in the world! Zinnia and cosmos seeds are kinda similar in size but never get good germ on the pink cosmos while zinnias and yellow-orange cosmos are 90%+ germ.
That's interesting. I haven't planted cosmos in a few years. Perhaps, I'll have to try sowing them again and pay special attention to the germination rates. Thanks so much for watching!

How close do you sow your zinnias? I’m I. Georgia 7B and it’s so hot and humid. I don’t want to grow them so close that they don’t get good air flow. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge of flowers. I’m learning a lot. This is my first growing season -Moonshadow Flower Farm✌️❤️
