I like physical media because it is generally still in the last place I left it months or even years after last partaking of it. I've never yet had an Amazon representative burst into my home to collect the DVDs and Blu-Rays they no longer want me to have in my library for whatever reason.
Yeah it is nice to have a guarantee of owning something. I had Netflix for a very brief time and I remember 'Hot Fuzz' was constantly coming and going.
One really cool thing about physical media that's not as prevalent anymore is the menus like when you put Fight Club in it opens with the never been kissed menu as a fake out and I always thought that was really cool.
Hello George!! It’s Mac!!! So glad and happy you are back!! It has been a while since I have seen your videos as I have been super busy lately beginning my filmmaking ventures! 🎬 By the way, I absolutely enjoyed your video on why Physical Media is the best!! Owning a DVD, Blu Ray, or 4K of your movie grants you the best quality anyone could ever ask for! It even feels very personal as you have stated since you are able to connect with the movie itself! 🎥 I also have struggles with space storage for Physical Media but we forget that we can buy in and trade Movies and TV Shows we regularly don’t watch anymore. With this day and age with the streaming market, Physical Media is still super important for us movie lovers and makers in the cinematic world!
Hello Mac, thank you for the comment. I of course absolutely agree with everything you said. Although it's niche, I'm happy that so many people are still passionate about it.
If I lose access to any of my DVDs, it's entirely my own fault too. Once I made plans to spend my new years watching the Godfather trilogy, which I'd seen was on Netflix just the month prior, but they pulled them all down just in time to ruin my plans. Won't happen with anything I buy physically. Nor will it be ruined with exclusivity deals, my internet being silly or compression being funky. Always just works, and they're dirt cheap these days, with how few movies I watch, it honestly does pay to just buy them all for 20DKK on Amazon.
Yeah I think everyone has an example like this. When I briefly had Netflix I was going to watch 'Hot Fuzz' just for the sake of convenience, but found out that it was no longer on there. Thankfully I had a physical copy so I just watched that way instead.
Hilariously enough George, I think your one criticism of physical media is negated by the fact that most blu rays come with a digital code. In fact, I recently was gifted the "Better Call Saul" blu ray collection and was disappointed to find it didn't come with a digital code. Obviously, someone is less likely to chance it with buying a movie vs streaming a movie like you said. But convenience I don't see as a particularly valid knock against physical media so long as they give you the digital option. Really good video, and solid presentation implementing your actual blu ray collection into the footage.
That's interesting because I tend to find that most of the ones I purchase do not come with a digital code. I found that it was more frequent with newer DVD releases - is it something that's being phased out perhaps? Thank you mate. Using film clips can be effective to convey certain points, but I do enjoy filming my own footage and implementing it where possible.
As long as it is available, I will continue to purchase physical copies of my favourite pieces of media.
What do you think about physical media?
Bro came, said his piece, and dipped, 10/10
This seems accurate.
It's just nice not to have to rely on my internet and watch it offline....
Very true. You can never rely on a good connection 100% of the time.

Have they done that with other things then?

@@That0therGeorge Amazon has it mate.
@@Tillyard86 With downloadables (both music and films), they absolutely have removed paid for content from my account.

Very true. I do really like the interactive menus as oppose to the static images that you often get now.
Blooper reels…enough said
yes.

Thank you. To be honest it doesn't feel like I really left - I've just been cooking up a big project.
