I had the one on the top left (or similar). It was mechanical inside. There was a rod with a bulb up against the screen. It had a spring around the bulb end ( like a whisk). This let it gently bounce around as it traveled behind the ‘screen’.
Christmas of 82, living in Denver, we had a blizzard. Real nasty. I got the pac-man game from the 82 catalog! Played the hell out that thing. (Fast forward to now, emulating game and watch is not as fun as having the original) This video really brought me back Rob. Thanks! Good cheer to you and yours!
The first story sounded like Krampus came to town. That game was Space War. Dragster was so meh lol. But people sing it's praises.. A Sears Video Arcade 2 is a big want for my collection. One of these days I'll throw the money at one. Slik Stik is the best joystick ever. Still using my originals that I was gifted in 86. Sheez you could play only the games in the 83 catalog and be good to go forever. I've actually never played an intellivision. Had the coleco in the early 2000s but never found an intellivision in the wild to grab. They mailed them out buy you could buy them from Sears if I remember correctly. The 84 catalog is a dream for collectors and players of the 2600 lol. I wanted the Atari XE from the later 80s catalogs. The console just looked soo cool!! Sorry that was a long one.. I just responded as I watched.
Agreed on Dragster -- People either loved or hated it. I just got rid of my XEGS in the last big clean out. Most of the games played better on the 7800. Those pastel buttons were great though!

If there is one year you want to see, it's 1983 at chapter 4. It's the best.

I have so many memories with the Sears catalog. I miss Sears! One of my fondest christmas memories! 😊👍
Miss that store in general. Apparently there 19 or so stores still in operation. Maybe someday they will make a comeback like Dunkin Donuts.
These catalogs were a very big deal back in the day. They were the best way to keep up on the latest games.
Yeah, I loved them. Odd to think they are gone.

Happy Holidays! Emulation does miss part of the physical joy of the original game.
