Hello Awasthi ji, As far as I know, Indian wolf never hunts in a pack. They generally hunt alone or may be in a pair if they are hunting a chinkara. I doubt that wolves in bahraich will be hunting in packs. Also, I would like to tell you a story of Deccan Plateau folklore (from Karnataka). Request you to please research about it also; In the grasslands of Karnataka, it is believed that a wolf, a shepherd, and a sheep were once brothers. They were born of the same mother but took different paths in life. The wolf, being strong and wild, chose the life of the forest. The shepherd, compassionate and wise, took care of the sheep and lived a life close to the village, guarding his flock. The sheep, gentle and innocent, followed the shepherd and found comfort in his protection. As the story goes, despite their bond as brothers, their lives often brought them into conflict. The wolf, driven by his nature, would try to hunt the sheep, and the shepherd would have to defend his flock. Even if the wolf succeeds to take away a sheep, shepherd never kills it. Shepherd thinks, if he takes one sheep, he will bless the shepherd with prosperity as wolf is also one of the brothers. This constant push and pull between their roles symbolized the delicate balance of nature and the inevitability of conflict between the wild and the domestic. This folktale reflects themes of kinship, conflict, and the idea that even within family, differences in nature can lead to strife. This story I am writing for you to let you know, even though wolf attacks have been there however, I think, the situation after all news channels covering it is of mass hysteria where wolves are being blames for anything and everything. In Karnataka and Deccan plateau (parts of Maharashtra as well) there has been hardly any conflict in between wolf and humans. Wolf almost on a daily basis attack hens from the poultry farms here in Pune but never harm human beings. Once, i was in a grassland in Indapur (near Pune) and the wolf was hardly 6-7 foot away from me. It ran away as soon as it noticed me.
