As of 12/20/23, the RP-1600SW 16" is $1799 on Amazon. Would you buy the 16" Klipsch or the HSU 15"? Based on what I've seen, I'd take the HSU. No balanced inputs? Really?
I must correct you and I am sorry, A speaker is nothing more then a air piston, the way the cone moves to reproduce say 50hz is the same movement and amount of pressure no matter the size of the woofer. Its a optical illusion when a 8 and a 15 both playing the same tone on the same power, when the 8 looks faster. The power behind the driver effects the output and control of the driver. the enclosure effects the frequencies. When it comes to different woofer sizes the bigger the woofer the lower it will play. Thats why movie theaters have HUGE subs. They hit that LOW LOW giving the effect of subsonic on the body.
Now you need to do a review of the same series of speakers, see if they are also just as good a value speakers. Like a two channel with a sub or a two channel, center and a sub. I think a lot of people would be interested in that.
I can't go back to an analog sub. Elac was first and then SVS (Dual PB1000 Pro's) showed me the light on DSP Subs that have an app. I can't go back, I won't! lol

Yeah at $1399 Klipsch just can't compete with Hsu and SVS. This is only worth it ON SALE. For 1400 you could get a couple smaller subs by the big two that would do the job. Klipsch and most big box speaker boys have never been competitive in the sub market. I know because my old subs were all bought either DEMO or closeout. At that price, yeah, you can get some value. But imagine JBL or Klipsch selling their higher end subs MSRP for $200-$300, lol!
i will never ever buy a Klipsch product anymore, especially one with an amp in it. My SPL-150 sub broke after just about one year. I know they look pretty but you are aware that when you're listening to something, all those speaker cones are vibrating in sympathy so you're not hearing just the system you're listening to but a combination of all of them?
To the average person, this is true. They can't tell a difference. If you listen to enough subs, you'll start to train your ears and hear the differences between them.
I'd say tight and loose dictated by the woofer suspension, magnet structure, and dampening factor on the amp. Given that most subs in the same series use the same amp, same magnet structure, and have the same Xmax, a smaller diameter sub in that series can likely stop the previous bass note faster as there is less moving mass. This is not the same as saying a 12" is automatically a tighter sub than an 18". If the 18" has a lower xmax and a higher BL, it can likely be more controlled than a smaller woofer with a lower bl and bigger xmax.
@@mitchy5994 There are differences but the terms fast and slow make no sense. If it's moving slower than it's playing a lower frequency. The terminology is wrong. You can say that it sounds tighter or punchier. But slow and fast make no sense.
@@BiffTannenBTTF No need to tell me that. I never said that was the right terminology. But we both understood what he was saying, so it doesn't matter in the long run.
It’s funny zeos and his followers think of subs much differently than I. For me I want a sub to disappear and blend into the background. I want my speakers the blend seamlessly and the bass to act as a natural extension of the woofers. Rel and rythmik are the way.
Oh not at all. We think the same, I just have to make it a little more bombastic for the video. The only subwoofer that doesn't disappear into the background and the giant klipsch and a small ass sunroom

Also. The idea that smaller subs are faster, is nonsense.
