It's a shame just so less people gave a thumb-up here. . . He was a unique goddamn fantastic musician!
I love how he makes every cover his own, in the most incredible ways.
True there are some artists likeJohnny Cash and him. They make us forget the song is by some other band.
Micheal Hedges we miss you we love you so much ...thank you for all you gave ..amazing strength and talent such a gift
Beautiful rendition of this song ..xx oo
Anyone still listening? New fan. Wonderful music.
Welcome to the legacy of Michael Hedges
R.I.P. Micheal... thanks for all the joy.
Michael is using his custom Takamine Guitar, with his name on the headstock. It was gifted to him while on tour in Japan, 1989.
Michael overheard myself and another person talking about him, my friend said "who is Michael Hedge?" and a newly bald Michael came up and answered "one of the best guitarists in the world" and showed us his ID. so funny I gave him a hug and was captivated at the concert in Arcata Ca. that night. On of the best and original EVER! may his memory live on!
This is a great story. Very nice. It is very kind of you to share it with us. Thank you.
I am a big fan of his. I only became familiar with Michael and his talents within this past year. By chance do you know why he decided to shave his head? Not that it is important. Just curious.
I canʻt believe I missed him because I graduated from HSU the previous year and moved to Hawaii to go to graduate school. Because of that I never got to see him.
RIP man and thank you
Not sure what I could add to the legacy that is Michael Hedges. His music transcended the guitar - ethereal, mystic, and other-worldly. He created an entire genre of music & instrumentalists. This is my favorite video of Michael just being Michael - fun, engaging and always unique. And though we miss him, we hear him every day in so many different ways. Thanks for the recording (and cleanup).
Amazing!
Thank you Michael for the music!
R.i.p.
There's only room for one Michael Hedges.
One of those guys who came through Tulsa back in the day ... Great player Great entertainer.
It's back! Thanks - this is my all-time favorite TH-cam video!
RIP dear Michael. Genius. So very talented guitarist and composer.
A true genius. Someone should put out a guitar tab book of his versions of these songs
it's criminal this complete concert isn't officially released on DVD...among many others.

Jimi would have loved Michael and who knows maybe they are brothers playing together in musical heaven...

a song, a chorus, a rendition for our times, right now...."gimme shelter...."
Gimme Shelter (The Rolling Stones)
Ooh, a storm is threatenin'
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Ooh, I'm gonna fade away
War, children,
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children,
It's just a shot away
Ooh, yes, a storm is threatenin'
And a fire is sweepin'
Down our street today
Burns like a red coal carpet
A mad bull lost his way
War, children,
It's just a shot away-yeah
War, children,
It's just a shot away
A shot away-yeah
Rape, murder,
It's just a shot away
Rape, murder-yeah
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Ooh, a storm is threatenin'
Down our street today
Burns a red coal carpet
Gimme, gimme shelter
I'm gonna fade away
War, children,
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, ooh, children
It's just a shot away
But, i'm telling you now
Love, sister
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
Love, sister
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
Love, sister
It's just a kiss away
kiss away
kiss away
Thank you
🎻♥️🩰♥️🎻
Yeah- Love, sister
It's just a kiss away

un ange est passé..
This intro reminds me of 'Lullaby' from the Cure.
Superbe
A wormhole lost too soon.
Funny, this reminds me a whole lot of Peter Gabriel. Wow, uncanny!
Well, to me he reminds me of... Michael. That is because I knew him in highschool. He was an awesome musician then and only got better. My favorite cover by him was of All Along The Watchtower.
How?
Fantastic!
Strange part about his other guitars that on live records they didn't sound as natural as 'Barbara'. Like he didn't really care. And almost all of 'em had the same pickups - Sunrise S-1 and F.R.A.P. near the bridge. But Barbara sounded fantastic and on this Takamine, for example, you can hear typical 'plastic' sound of unequalized S-1. Strange for such perfectionist. Maybe, he just liked it.
Gone much too early
Gahhh
fat strings..........teah
RAPE! MURDER!
Oh wait... I mean AHHHH! AAAHHHHHH! I guess.
