I'll have to give dropshot a try with trout. I had 15 lb braid on my ul but I think I may drop down to 10 at least with it. For the summer it was all bluegill fishing with it with bait and I was going to see how that did with a 6lb floro leader it did with a spinner spoon or trout magnet jig/mousetail on a bobber for trout when they got stocked more heavily for winter months here
Definitely, dropshot is a great way to get on em. I would consider going lighter on the line, I use 4lb typically and thats sufficient for the occasional monster trout. The lighter line will enhance sensitivity and help you detect much lighter/softer bites
Im definitely learning more toward the single lately as most of the time the fish will hit the bottom bait and its much easier handling fish with only one hook to deal with. I do still have doubles on standby just in case thats what the want that day 🤘
Best drop shot tutorial I’ve seen. Do you ever go longer on the hook to weight distance to avoid weeds, or do you usually fish this rig where there aren’t really any weeds?
Great question. Typically if there are alot of weeds I wont do dropshot, however, if the conditions with the weeds weren’t too thick, I would tie one up higher from the weight to get it above the weeds and use a small splitshot for a weight so it doesn’t drag in the weeds as much. It definitely can be done
Hey Rob, what’s up? Another great video. Great info thanks buddy. I wanted to ask you. What’s your all purpose length from the hook to the drop shot weight? What’s the one you go with all the time?
Thank you for These great Videos i like how you explain the Technique and just some of these instructional Videos. When will you be at Hesperia lake? I fished Next to you guys last Year and Watched you guys catch all the fish on the mini Jigs. I started using them after i saw you guys using then and talked to a few of your guy that were in the group. love your videos and Golden state fishing videos always great content. Can I pick up more mini jigs locally or is it all online??
Thank you 🙏. Im not going to be able to make it up there then but we are starting to work our way north. Ill be up at Amador 12-9 thru 12-12. We may head up there one day during that trip. I just dont know alot about Collins but ill look into it 🤘
If you want one rod to do it all Id lean more toward the Elixir. The Californian is better suited for mini jigs than dropshot or hard baits unless your going to throw light dropshot weights and really small spoons
Rob "the real Diehl" has travel near and far to teach us his expertise, from Wyoming to Utah and all around the sierra Nevada mountains. Im sure that lake is more convenient for travel.😊
Really comes down to availability. That spot is not something we try for, its just a spot that seems to be open when we get there. Since we dont camp there we can only get what we can get 🤷🏼♂️
excellent fishing. I have a question, excuse me, that lake is private or anyone can go fishing in that lake. According to what they told me, that lake is private.
Lol, I’ll give ya its not exactly a wild river in Alaska, but what you have to understand is that this channel is designed for beginners and folks that want to learn different styles of trout fishing. I also have lots of content showing more advanced techniques in Montana, Utah, Nevada, the eastern sierra, and lots of the more challenging SoCal waters if thats what your looking for 🤘
Thank you for all the information on Trout fishing. I always learn from your videos.
I'm glad it's helpful! 🤘

Great video! Will you be going to the SARL opener this year?
If its this Friday, no. Im going to the Hesperia opener Thursday. I will be back at SARL though very soon
Great video rob..you like running double or single drop shot?
Im definitely learning more toward the single lately as most of the time the fish will hit the bottom bait and its much easier handling fish with only one hook to deal with. I do still have doubles on standby just in case thats what the want that day 🤘

Thx Rob for another informative video🤙🏼. Do you think a double drop shot rig catches more fish than a single drop shot rig?
To be honest I dont know for sure. Im thinking on doing some experimenting and making a video out of it
Hey Rob, what’s up? Another great video. Great info thanks buddy. I wanted to ask you. What’s your all purpose length from the hook to the drop shot weight? What’s the one you go with all the time?
I never measure it but always do about 6-8” from the weight.
@ thank you bro
Thank you for the video
No problem, happy you enjoyed it 🤘

Thanks brother 🙏 yes, the bulk of GSF sales are all done online but they have excellent shipping times
Love your vids you should try Collins Lake they are stocking their biggest stocking of the whole year on November 13

Between the Californian and the phenix elixir which do u think is better? I’m considering getting either one for mini jigs dropshot and spoon

@ Thanks for the help
Do you need to be a member there
Yes, its a membership lake.
Hey bro we’re do you buy your big packs for mosquitos hooks size 10 and 8 I even trying to look for them can’t find them.
No worries at all. I get them on Amazon, here is the link a.co/d/1QpZAKP
@@SeaSpankerOutdoorsthank you bro
Why do you always fish that lake and not the big lake?
Rob "the real Diehl" has travel near and far to teach us his expertise, from Wyoming to Utah and all around the sierra Nevada mountains. Im sure that lake is more convenient for travel.😊
Really comes down to availability. That spot is not something we try for, its just a spot that seems to be open when we get there. Since we dont camp there we can only get what we can get 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks brother I appreciate that. It seems that every time we go there we are limited to what spots are still open
excellent fishing. I have a question, excuse me, that lake is private or anyone can go fishing in that lake. According to what they told me, that lake is private.
@estuardochoc2582 its not private ,but you do pay to get in I think it's about 25 .00 dollars I could be wrong
How are you getting on with the fish? You are literally fishing in a small highly stocked pond. Kind of like shooting fish in a barrel. Takes no skill
